"Tiga's new album Sexor is one of the most eagerly awaited debut albums for ages. This is a unique proposition. Early reactions to the record have been electric. Described in some quarters as the 'male Goldfrapp' in waiting, Sexor finds Tiga in spine-tingling form. Tiga sings on every track. Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters sings on a couple too. Taking inspiration from some of the world's filthiest underground night spots, Sexor lives up to its title. Sexor is a dirty beast of a record that sucks pleasure from the bass and a whole lot more...The album's foundation song is 'Pleasure From The Bass'. Suitably inspired, Tiga began to think about making his long-awaited album. Being a well-connected, internationally-renowned, ambitious sort, he was never going to play it straight. Tiga would record half of his album in Ghent with Stephen and David Dewaele of Belgian band Soulwax (aka occasional mash-up kings 2 Many DJs), and half in Stockholm with Swedish techno producer Jesper Dahlbäck. The result is a hugely satisfying listen. Free-roaming but coherent, thumpingly invigorating without sounding samey, full of beats and tunes, electronic music that rocks. Album opener '(Far From) Home' sets the tone with its wonderfully unique pop feel. The moody, twinkling city-after-dark feel of 'Ballad Of Sexor' is another case in point. 'Good As Gold' is one of the first songs Tiga did with the Soulwax brothers. 'I wanted to make an old Italian disco record, and it was really exciting to do that.' He had also some fun with Talking Heads' 'Burning Down The House'. After years of excursions and diversions, Tiga has knuckled down, pulled in all his experiences, and crafted a brilliant, 14-song set."
