"By 1959, when The Curtis Fuller Jazztet was recorded, Detroit native Curtis Fuller was considered to be one of the greatest living jazz trombonists. Upon moving to NYC in the mid-fifties, Fuller became one of the hottest new names in jazz, recording as sideman on dates with Miles Davis, Sonny Clark and John Coltrane, (and featuring on Coltrane's classic Blue Train), as well as his first albums as leader for Prestige and Blue Note. Although tenor saxophonist Benny Golson and trumpet player Art Farmer would continue to use the Jazztet name from 1959-1962 without Fuller, this LP, recorded at the Van Gelder studio, represents the original Fuller-Golson co-led Jazztet line-up, with Lee Morgan on trumpet, Wynton Kelly on piano, and Paul Chambers on bass, and featuring two of Fuller's well-known compositions, 'Arabia' and 'Judy's Dilemma,' as well as Cole Porter's 'It's Alright with Me' (called the 'trombonists' national anthem'). Fuller would soon go on to join Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers." Comes on 180 gram vinyl.
