Rising Sun is the production alias of Berlin-based Steffen Laschinski, a producer and curator of multiple record labels (including Kristofferson Kristofferson, Styrax, and Millions Of Moments). The name of the project and the music are both inspired by Specter and Damon Lamar's productions on the Tetrode Music label. Laschinski's reserved deep house recalls Larry Heard and early-'90s house, while also drawing on influences from soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, Detroit techno, and ambient. More a crossover work than music of one specific style, Laschinski's productions retain unplanned moments alongside the ritual of the Rising Sun process. Includes two vinyl-only tracks, "Pressure" and "Remix." Includes download code.
