London DJ/producer Jesse Rose handles mix duties for Get Physical's third Body Language compilation. Rose comes well equipped with skills, having been involved with house music for more than half of his life. Jesse started his production career with a series of collaborations on the Dubsided label and his own imprint, Front Room, and it wasn't long before he had developed his own recognizable form of jerky, angular fidget house. Given his love of house music's electronic sound, it was no surprise that he hooked up with M.A.N.D.Y. from Get Physical. Consequently, Jesse was asked to remix "Vejer" by Riton vs. Heidi for the label. After moving to Berlin, Get Physical's base, he was asked to mix the third Body Language CD. Body Language Vol. III sees Jesse condense a typical three-hour set into just over 70 minutes, with deep chords, trippy acid undercurrents and chopped-up vocal samples from hip-hop -- what he listens to at home -- appearing in the shuffling, drummy grooves of releases on Made To Play, Classic and Dubsided. Eschewing a computer, he constructed the mix using two turntables and a CD deck, emphasizing the live performance aspect of DJing. Jesse's own work also appears on the mix: there's his squelchy remix of Rekid's "Next Stop Chicago" and the jerky groove of "Didn't I." Meanwhile, the deep, hypnotic Radioslave version of Chelonis R. Jones' "Deer In The Headlights" maintains the connection to the label. Body Language Vol. III doesn't stay in one place for too long: there's the minimalist acid of Tigerskin's "101 On The Run," and Paul Woolford's huge "Erotic Discourse" track. On Body Language Vol. III, Jesse Rose speaks clearly to house music's global audience. Also included are exclusive tracks and remixes from: Solid Groove & Sinden, Elon, Laid, Cass & Mangan, Oliver $, Scoper & Bubba, Induceve, Dublex Inc. and Justin Maxwell.
