"Detroit producer Kenny Larkin takes a break from the stand-up comedy to put out a new album on Carl Craig's Planet E label. Who says techno artists don't have a sense of humour? Kenny Larkin's output has been quiet of late, the reason being that he has moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and independent film-making. Keys? is Larkin's first album since Funkfaker (2004), but don't expect belly laughs, Keys... is serious business: Larkin's most dancefloor-oriented album to date. 'The majority of the album was written at my home in L.A.,' says Larkin. 'But I flew to Detroit a few times to work in Carl's studio which did wonders for my inspiration. Nothing can top the type of inspiration I get from being in a proper studio environment in Detroit. I stayed in Carl's studio and worked for days.' Made with 'proper synthesizers' and 'mixing on a mixing desk with proper outboard gear,' the album so far features two singles, the song-based 'You Are,' and Larkin's favorite track on the record, 'Glob Glob.'" --Resident Advisor
