"Born in the desert of southern California, The Sort Of Quartet has been playing their odd mix of guitar fuelled music for over10 years. Their history is a strange mix of countless desert parties powered by generators. Gigging with any style of artists and musicians from punk to jazz to surf, this eclectic mix is an insight to the sound that drives The Sort Of Quartet. Open to all influences, nothing is sacred in this musical world. Darting and weaving through the Ventures' house while filling their pockets with Beefhearts and banjos, then making their getaway to the tune of smoking cop-show swing, stopping only to play a quick Jewish wedding disguised as punk rock mariachis. Victim À La Mode, their fourth full length CD, is the quartet's first real attempt at experimenting in the studio with multiple instruments, such as drummer Rob Peterson´s contributions on the marimbas, vibes & assorted ethnic drums, also adding bass clarinet to the haunted 'Ocatillo Fist'. Gary Arce´s talents range from guitars to keyboards & trombone, also sharing vocal oddities with Mario Lalli, who swayed from the guitar to play drums on 'Brownshrine' and assorted keyboard squaks & squeaks. Larry Lalli on bass guitar & percussion plus a guest appearance by the innovative guitarist Mike Kanealy (Frank Zappa Band) on 'Behind The Ol ´Geerage´ was another treat to make this record a great experience for the band."
