The Eskimo label's second installment in a series dedicated to cosmic Balearic beats features 16 exclusive and unreleased tracks of beautiful, sun-kissed cosmic house, disco, funk and more, mixed for the ultimate slo-mo house party and including a bonus mp3-disc featuring the unmixed full-length versions of all the tracks. A technicolor fusion of house, techno, acid and psychedelia, Hot Toddy's "I Need Love," featuring Ron Basejam on vocals, is the perfect way to set sail on the good ship Balearica. Next up is Canary Island-born Rayko, whose "Slowtrack" evokes the more experimental edge of '70s NYC disco, before a rolling, euphoric piano break engulfs Slight Delay's floor-filling anthem "Can You Feel It?!." Fernando Gomez forges bubbling synths into a great percussive workout, maintaining the momentum as Marbeya Sound brings Soviet-era synths into a modern day cosmic swirl. Premier Rang takes it down a notch with distorted thunder cloud claps and French spoken word, while The Beat Broker's "Ice Castle" injects Italo disco elements into the cosmic journey. In-demand remixers and Glasgow DJ legends Johnnie Wilkes and James Savage (aka Optimo) drop in under the name Naum Gabo, while Humberto Matias' Social Disco Club pumps things up with bouncing beats and jittering hand claps. Newcomer Phelps makes his Eskimo debut here, drawing from disco, '80s pop, new wave and house, until The Outrunners deliver a perfect homage to the John Carpenter-esque synth soundtracks of the late '70s. Denmark's Visti & Meyland team up for the original mix of the superb, rousing house belter that is "Yes Maam (All Nite Long)." Among the well-known names on this compilation, two key characters from the booming Belgian dance scene, Mugwump's Geoffroy & Kolombo, show once more why they're going straight to the top, while disco veteran Georgina Fernandez aka Baby G teams up with studio wizard Robin Craford for the perfect disco-tinged action of Dance Disorder's "My Time." Finally, Lyhome's "Other Side Of Me" sees Dutch producer Martijn Poulus bring it down the tempo scale via a collaboration with Italian/Argentinian hip-hop and soul producer, Shablo. As you have come to expect, the production quality is impeccable, matched only by each track's beauty and invention as Eskimo traverses the worlds of disco, house, funk, Italo, electro and beyond through its global army of collaborators and artists.
