Delayed until March/2025... "A massive photographic archive of Lee 'Scratch' Perry's legendary recording studio. A 600-page tribute to one of the most famous locales in music history, Black Ark is a detailed inventory of photographs and writings from the Black Ark Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, where producer Lee 'Scratch' Perry created music from 1973 onward. The eclectic and constantly evolving decoration of the studio provides an enduring visual counterpart to Perry's expansive musical catalog. From mural paintings to shape-shifting assemblages of records, instruments, found objects, posters and newspaper clippings, the artworks layer upon one another as they intertwine with the studio building itself. Perry created his own dense and diverse world in which to work: memorialized in this volume before the Black Ark disappears for good. The photographic documentation of the studio in the spring of 2021 was supplemented by efforts to secure and preserve Perry's works, objects and recordings as part of a joint project with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Black Ark reflects the rhythm and layering effects of collage both in its content and the materials used to craft the book. Perry was involved in the development of this publication until his death in August 2021. The book closes with memorial essays from Ishion Hutchinson, David Katz, Kodwo Eshun, and John Corbett. Lee 'Scratch' Perry (1936-2021) was a musician and producer best known for pioneering the dub genre in the 1970s. He worked with well-known Jamaican artists such as Bob Marley and the Wailers, the Heptones, the Congos, and Max Romeo. In 2003 he won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album."

One of the greatest classics of Brazilian popular music, with Jorge Ben mixing funky samba, Afro-Brazilian beats, and crunching guitars. Jorge Ben was the most prominent figure of the samba soul and samba funk scenes of the '70s in Brazil, and África Brasil is probably the most famous of his '70s recordings.

Colours Revisited, a revision of Adam F's MOBO Award-winning 1997 debut album, is a story of musical rebirth and passion. Adam F, realizing that Colours had found a new audience -- partly thanks to artists like PinkPantheress -- decided to recreate the album. Instead of simply remastering the tracks, Adam went all in. Over two years, he meticulously reworked the original music, from restoring vintage instruments like his Fender Rhodes piano to enlisting UK jazz legends like Julian Joseph. Vocalists including Kirsty Hawkshaw and the late MC Conrad re-recorded their parts, while new solos from world-class musicians added fresh life to the tracks. "Colours holds a special place in my heart because it was not only my first solo album, but also because I had the opportunity to collaborate with diverse talents," says the seminal producer on his ground-breaking album. "Musicians of a caliber such as Dave Ital (Guitars), The Jazz Great Julian Joseph (Keyboards and Fender Rhodes), MC Conrad (MC/Artist), Roni Jordan, Tim Philbert/Tim the Bass (Bass), Greg Leicester (Bass), Maurice Capillaire/MC MC (Live MC)." The revisited album deftly weaves together the energy of new live instrumentation with the '80s British electronica and jazz fusion inspired sounds of the original. The result is a project which not only brings the album into the glistening present but somehow manages to add further depth and sense of understanding of the original Colours, the influences latent within it and how and why it has gone on to influence so many others since its inception throughout the world. This is a must have album which pays homage to what has become a cornerstone of British electronic music history.

"Superior Viaduct and new artist label, W.25TH, continue to be the home for Cindy Lee with the physical release of the celebrated album Diamond Jubilee. Universally praised, shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, and already hailed by Pitchfork as the third best album of the 2020s, anticipation and conversation around the record has been high. Cindy Lee is the performance and songwriting vehicle of Patrick Flegel (who previously fronted influential indie group Women). Over several albums, Flegel has combined delicate melodies and sheer beauty with moments of experimentation. With Diamond Jubilee, Flegel's undeniable songcraft comes to the foreground, embracing a more instant connection and accessibility. Timeless tales of love and longing, surrounded by sticky hooks, take the listener on an unforgettable journey. Diamond Jubilee was written and recorded over several years by Patrick Flegel in Toronto, Durham, Calgary and Montreal at Realistik Studios. The album was mixed by Steven Lind, who also contributes to several tracks and co-wrote 'Baby Blue,' and was mastered by Joshua Stevenson. Triple LP on black vinyl comes with 24"x36" poster."

"Jim Franks is not a professional baker, because there are no such things as professional bakers. He is also not your father and never will be, nor is this a cookbook full of stories and recipes. Jim Franks is a baker and a poet who's written a love story about bread, which is to say he's written a life story about listening, learning, trying, failing, adapting, and above all, caring. Through humor, history, relentless curiosity, and refreshingly unsentimental poetry, Existential Bread teaches there are many ways to bake a loaf just as there are many ways to live a life." Paperback; 5.5" x 8.25" / 170pp "Existential Bread is a collected bakers' common sense from Jim Franks, one of the most knowledgeable people about modern baking in the United States today." --Matt Kedzie, Owner-Baker of Starter Bread "Part love letter, part philosophical manifesto, Jim Frank's book is an earnest and charming exploration of our human relationship with bread and what it takes to make it." --Fiona Cook, Author of The Wheel of the Year "In a world of samey-samey, this book is different. Jim Franks doesn't want you to make his bread (by providing glossy photos and detailed recipes); he wants you to make your bread (by sharing his practice and what he has learned). In a world of 'shoulds' and 'bottom lines,' Existential Bread creates space while providing structure for you to fall in love with the ancient act of making bread. Plus, it's a very fun read." --Abra Berens, Author of Ruffage, Grist and Pulp

WRWTFWW Records presents its third collaboration with Japanese electronic/ambient/synth-pop crew Interior, this time with the release of band member Daisuke Hinata's forgotten solo treasure from 1989: Tarzanland. The feel-good/smooth ride LP is available as a limited-edition turquoise and light pink vinyl housed in a heavyweight 350gsm sleeve with obi strip. Available on vinyl for the first time ever, Tarzanland is late '80s California sun-soaked kankyō ongaku, minimalistic proto-chillwave, the synth melody of a pleasant Sunday breeze as the ocean waves breathe in and breathe out. Steve Winwood and Steely Dan come to mind as the ambient sound design of an imaginary John Hughes movie unfolds as all pieces of the puzzle come together for a blissful journey of simple pleasures. Daisuke Hinata is a Grammy-nominated artist, composer, producer, and member of Interior. This is WRWTFWW's third release centered around the work of the band, following the reissue of their Haruomi Hosono-produced self-titled debut (1982) and the first release ever of Sculpture of Time (Apocalypse), their rarely heard before commissioned piece for German environmental artist NILS-UDO.

LP version. "Rose City Band's music is sun-kissed timeless country rock whose seemingly effortless momentum carries the joy of its creation without ignoring the darkness pervading our consciousness. Led by guitarist/vocalist Ripley Johnson, the music of Rose City Band is rooted in his love of private press records of the mid to late '70s. The band, in addition to Johnson, features pedal steel guitarist Barry Walker, keyboardist Paul Hasenberg, and drummer John Jeffrey who enmesh a keen sense of rhythmic drive and melody with gentler, sumptuous atmospheres. Nuanced performances and interplay between players unfurl like desert flowers splashing color onto an arid landscape. The ensemble's buoyant moments still glide with ease, but there is room to revel in respite of the shade of a dark cloud. Across the album, Johnson's tasteful guitar interjections and soothing voice are met in kind with the versatile playing of Walker, Hasenberg, and Jeffery, with special guest performances by synthesist/vocalist, Sanae Yamada. Album closer 'The Walls' perfectly captures the band's explorative and expansive songs, Hasenberg's soulful organ driving the album to an emotionally cathartic conclusion. Throughout his prolific career with Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo, and now Rose City Band, Johnson's music has consistently centered around exploration and discovery. Sol Y Sombra imbues his penchant for space and resplendent tonality with a denser amalgam of his influences through a delicate balance of the somber and the serene, of subtle evolutions and familiar sounds, Sol Y Sombra makes for a holistically joyous experience, finding solace in both sun and shade."
"Ripley Johnson has been responsible for some of the past decade's most mesmeric and beguiling albums. Rose City Band might be the best of the bunch." --The Guardian
"[Johnson's] Rose City Band incarnation may be his most dazzling and uplifting so far. [Rose City Band] transforms the fuzz-drenched thrust of Johnson's usual music into a beatific choogle, a modest but potent means of escape" --MOJO

Tikhet are Sepalot and Angela Aux. Each of the ten tracks on mixtape suite is likely to evoke such absurd associations in music lovers. The album authentically and unpredictably creates a feeling of total boundlessness with a global approach. Effortlessly uniting an entire record shop within itself. One time you think of Madlib or the Bee Gees, then of Joan Baez or Amon Düül, other times of Beck or Gorillaz. Between boom bap and Krautrock, disco styles, folk references and trip-hop vibes spread out organically. Analogue percussion blurs with '90s sampling sound aesthetics. Tikhet sounds unplanned and anarchic, with a raw core and some well-rounded patina on the outside. Featuring Feekind.

LP version. The debut album from French singer-songwriter Siân Pottok. A unique sound enriched by horns and electronic textures. Featuring Mamani Keïta, NNEKA, Abou Diarra, and Sanseverino. Deep Waters is much more than just an album. It embodies a "here and now" where the raw intensity of the earth and the yearning for a new vibration intersect. Siân Pottok has found this unique balance in the Kamele Ngoni, a traditional West African harp the practice of which she has been perfecting for several years. Surrounded by layers of brass and electronic sounds, she invites listeners to dive into a universe where every note is a nugget of emotion, a vibrant echo of the times. With this record, Siân asserts herself with the strength and simplicity of a landmark debut album, in the tradition of visionary artists such as Björk and Joni Mitchell. With Valentin Couineau as producer and Cyril Atef (Matthieu Chedid, Brigitte Fontaine, Bumcello) on drums and percussion, Siân surrounds herself with talented musicians who enrich her compositions with singular textures. Exceptional collaborations with NNEKA, Mamani Keïta, and Abou Diarra also enhance this album. Deep Waters is a powerful and authentic work, a sonic voyage that promises to leave a lasting impression.

Delayed further... until early 2025.."Pioneering media artist and concrete poet Ferdinand Kriwet's 1971 cult artist's book in a facsimile edition. A monumental, three-volume encyclopedia of alphabetically organized images, Ferdinand Kriwet: Stars was first published by Kiepenheuer & Witsch in 1971. In the 1960s, German author and media artist Ferdinand Kriwet (1942-2018), inspired by concrete poetry and its interest in the visual quality of linguistic signs, began to approach the literary medium of the book in a new way. Imagining new ways of reading that resisted linearity, Kriwet experimented with alternatives, encouraging a rapid back-and-forth between the pages of the book and the texts and images on them. In Stars, he treats images like words and arranges them in alphabetical order in an epic encyclopedia format. For years, Stars has only been available, at considerable cost, in antiquarian book catalogs. This new facsimile edition of Ferdinand Kriwet: Stars brings Kriwet's pioneering vision and his seminal book back into print." 416 pages. 2.5 pounds. 5.50(w) x 8.75(h).

Captivating, hypnotic, and highly energetic! Prepared -- a free-spirited Munich-based trio in a chamber music line-up that instinctively awakens dance impulses and guides the listener into a trance-like sound space. A pianist who hammers, taps and plucks incessantly on the grand piano. A clarinetist who plays more bass than clarinet in the depths of his bass clarinet. And a drummer who, like a good record, goes on and on, constantly spinning the grooves in circles. Three Munich jazz musicians, united in their contrasts. Where one plays Argentinian tango with Quadro Nuevo, the other plays "folklore-free folk music" with Dreiviertelblut and the third plays German hip-hop with Moop Mama, in their new project Prepared they merge cyclical motifs and cleverly layered patterns in minimalist yet highly virtuoso compositions creating a mesmerizing Gesamtkunstwerk. It's as if Steve Reich, Jonny Greenwood, Nik Bärtsch, and Dawn of Midi had been thrown into a pot. For a "state-of-the-art" immersive music production, the music was tracked "live" in one room without any overdubs. This album has been recorded using high-class 3D recording and miking techniques for Dolby Atmos and was mixed and mastered by highly acclaimed sound engineers. Recorded by Kseniya Kawko at Kyberg Studio, Munich, mixed by Kseniya Kawko at MSM Studio, Munich and mastered by Christoph Stickel at csmastering, Vienna.

LP version. Ex-Vöid -- featuring Lan McArdle (Joanna Gruesome, Lanny) and Owen Williams (The Tubs) -- return with their second LP: In Love Again. Joined by Laurie Foster (bass) and George Rothman (drums), the record sees the band flourish from a chaotic power punk group into a fully-fledged pop behemoth. Taking in elements of shoegaze ("Pinhead"), country ("Outline"), '90s indie rock ("In Love Again") and pretty much the entire history of guitar music, In Love Again reveals McArdle and Williams to be true students of perfect pop. The pair have been collaborating for a decade now, having played in Joanna Gruesome as teenagers, and In Love Again sees them both building on the sound they've honed together and embracing a new, unapologetic attitude towards songcraft. Backed by the tight-yet-raucous rhythm section of Foster and Rothman, In Love Again delivers as a huge pop album without sacrificing any of the hardcore propulsion that characterized the band's first album. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the Ex-Vöid sound is the sublime blend of McArdle and Williams' vocals: close, folk-indebted harmonies which guide the listener through an onslaught of hooks. And while this is utilized to full effect on In Love Again, the album also sees McArdle make full use of their vocal range. In keeping with their new sound, McArdle and Williams have taken a more autobiographical, nuanced approach to lyric writing this time around, a move influenced by touring with Waxahatchee. The hints of folk and country embedded in the tunes also stretch to this new lyrical approach -- storytelling and heartbreak abound. The band's first LP, Bigger Than Before, received positive coverage in Pitchfork, SPIN, Stereogum, and others. It received airtime on BBC Radio 6, and saw the band support/tour with acts such as Waxahatchee, Speedy Ortiz and Alvvays. Williams also fronts The Tubs -- whose 2023 debut saw them touring internationally and receiving plaudits from Pitchfork, The Guardian and Iggy Pop.

LP version. Cités Analogues was the first album released by Lightwave's core duo Christoph Harbonnier and Christian Wittman. Recorded between April and May 1988, and edited and produced in July 1988, Cités Analogues was then distributed through the alternative scene as a cassette. After the experiments and improvisations of their first tape, "Modular Experiments," recorded with Serge Leroy, Lightwave opted for a concept album, comprising of a series of discrete compositions and atmospheres assembled into two continuous tracks. The album was both recorded and mixed live, using a Revox B77 and an Allen & Heath 12/2 mixer. As such the different passages of this album captured the experience of Lightwave's performances, in which Harbonnier and Wittman played off each other with sympathetic improvisations. The instrumentation consists mainly of analog synthesizers, including several modular systems (RSF, ARP, Roland, Oberheim), while the sequences and rhythms are driven by two Roland sequencers. Digital effects help to create an expansive stereo field, in which recordings of urban environments and tape processing form rich experimental punctuations. Cités Analogues is thus a seminal album for the Harbonnier-Wittman duo, laying the foundations for a musical collaboration that continues thirty-five years on, thanks to their complementary skills and sonic universes. Long overdue, this remastered reissue of Cités Analogues, produced by Christoph Harbonnier, documents an important stage in Lightwave's trajectory and reflects the kaleidoscope of their influences at the end of the '80s, encompassing the Berlin School, Brian Eno's ambient work, and a particularly French-style of electro-acoustic experimentation. All tracks composed and performed by Christoph Harbonnier and Christian Wittman at Malibu Studio, Parmain, France (1988). Remix and mastering: Christoph Harbonnie.

This is a special edition of the 40th Anniversary of Cuerpo y Alma by Eduardo Mateo, in 180 -gram vinyl with obi, new cover artwork and insert. Cuerpo y Alma was his second record as a soloist, originally released by Sondor in 1984. Recorded between 1981 and 1984 with Hugo Fattoruso, Osvaldo Fattoruso, Pippo Spera, Urbano Moraes, Travesia, and more. In this record Mateo also experienced with percussion trying to get closer to a Hindú Percussion. Eduardo Mateo is one of the most important influences in the history of the Uruguayan Music. Mixing beat, jazz, Bossa Nova, and candombe. He was the one who created the "Candombe-Beat" mostly known as "Fusión." He also was a member and inspired the legendary band El Kinto. Mateo was a versatile and constantly evolving musician. If there is a record, however, that can be seen as the condensation of all his work, it is Cuerpo y Alma. Here are examples of his disconcerting simplicity, his most radical experimentalism, his mystical vein, of his explorations with Eastern, African and Caribbean music, their different approaches to the candombe, his tenderness and his frilly climates, his childish surreal humor, of abstractions and permutations of what would be his phase "Time Machine." Mateo took care again of all the instruments in most of the grooves and built in them these minimum-constructivist arrangements in the manner of El Kinto. But there are also collective grooves with a more spontaneous and improvisational approach, interacting with some old friends (Urbano, Pippo, the Fattoruso, Eduardo Marquez) and new colleagues with whom he interacted in the following years (Travesía, Walter "Nego" Haedo).

When dub and dope beats entered into an open relationship in the mid-nineties and created a casual hybrid with trip hop, Jean-Yves Prieur aka Kid Loco was one of the first French people to be there. With singles like "She's My Lover" and "Love Me Sweet" and the album A Grand Love Story, the producer proved himself to be a loverman indeed, with a knack for bedroom moods, charming little melodies and a comforting balance between minimalism and lush arrangements. As a keyboard all-rounder, Guillaume Méténier aka Soul Sugar has been featured on numerous Kid Loco productions for more than twenty years. From the synthesizer to the clavinet, from the Fender Rhodes to the Leslie organ, the "Funky Frenchman" is no stranger to any keyboard instrument. The Hamburg label Echo Beach, which has already issued dub commissions for a number of pop and new wave classics, thought it was time to change that.

In 2015, Membranes released their first album for 25 years. It was a critically acclaimed double album about life, death, and the universe. An ambitious work, it became the band's best-selling album in a long and unconventional career. Dark Matter / Dark Energy was both the band's critically acclaimed return and best-selling release and, due to public demand, it is now reissued as a double vinyl album in stunning and experimental, ground-breaking new artwork and packaging. The album was inspired by Membranes' John Robb, meeting John Incandela the head scientist from the CERN project at a TEDx talk they were both giving. Incandela had just completed his work on the Higgs Boson particle project, and Robb became friends with him and other scientists from the project. Their conversations about the universe were mind-blowing, and the album attempted to capture these in musical form. The band toured the album around the world, supporting The Stranglers, The Sisters Of Mercy, and Mark Lanegan, who called the Membranes one of his favorite all-time post-punk bands and said that "John Robb is a legend -- I'm truly honored to know him." The Membranes were formed in Blackpool in the late seventies and were big John Peel and music press favorites with their innovative bass driven discordant "Death To Trad Rock" sound providing a template and influence for many bands over the years including Big Black, Mercury Rev, The Wedding Present and even the likes of the Lambchop who covered them. John Robb is also a well-known face on TV and radio as well as running the Louder Than War music and culture website and writing best-selling books like Punk Rock - An Oral History and The Art Of Darkness - The History Of Goth. The new edition of the album comes in revolutionary and stunning new artwork gatefold sleeve, complete with lyric sheet, and a poster of the original album cover, all of which captures its interstellar themes.
