Title: Twelve Inches Of Pleasure - BBE Singles Part One
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BBE 051CD
"A long time ago BBE Records released twelve inch records, in those days London's Soho offered the record buyer a feast of vinyl; specialist stores proliferated, turntables took over from the guitar as every schoolboy dreamed to be the next 'Superstar' DJ. The music press was astounded at the survival of the 12" record, despite the major's attempt to quash it. In to this 'mix' BBE rose, releasing obscure funk records, and A Bollywood Funk album, as well as kick starting the whole DJ driven compilation genre with its Stop & Listen series. Fast forward to the now, sadly many of the Soho vinyl institutions have gone (R.I.P- 'Catch A Groove', 'Mr Bongo', 'Atlas', 'Quaff Records' the first 'Deal Real' & 'Major Flavours'), we hope that this album will memorialize a small part of that special dance music history."

Artist: MARC MAC
Title: Visioneers: Dirty Old Hip Hop
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: BBE 071CD
"Marc Mac is better known as one half of 4hero, the duo that changed the shape of UK electronic music and picked up both a Mercury Music Prize nomination and MOBO award while doing so. Marc Mac's production credits include tracks for Jill Scott, Vikter Duplaix, Ultra Nate, Terry Callier, Ursula Rucker, and Shaun Escoffery and he has a long list of remixes under his belt from Masters at Work to John Coltrane. Visioneers music is the sound of hip hop and jazz in a head-on collision, a definition which reaches its climax on tracks like, 'Ike's Mood I' and versions of the classic Nas 'The World Is Yours' and Pharcyde's 'Runnin'. The project features the talents of Brad Somatik and 4hero drummer Luke Parkhouse and features guest vocals from rappers Capitol A and Voice."

Artist: OSUNLADE
Title: Aquarian Moon
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: BBE 073CD
"Multi platinum selling producer Osunlade will surprise his house music disciples with a return to his soundtrack scoring origins. This album tells of his love affair with the beautiful Greek Island of Santorini & pays homage to its rich unspoilt culture. Sonically it describes his experience, full of feeling, opening a window into what was going through his mind while he was a resident. Recorded live over a 12 day period, this is a stunningly beautiful soundscape, taking house tempos, and lushly orchestrating them with strings and divine horn solos to produce a masterpiece. Although very deep and ambiently solemn, the album still has huge dancefloor potential. A wide range of rhythms and timbres run deep through out the album, from traditional African influences, to fat breaks, to jazzy broken beats."

Title: Passage
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: BBE 106CD
"Osunlade is a globally renowned DJ, sending dancefloors across the world into a frenzy with his trademark deep spiritual house sound. When he plays, he parties as much as the very people he is there to entertain. There are very few DJs who feel the vibe they're spreading the way he does. Osunlade is no stranger to BBE, having produced one of the highlights of the Exit Music album (an epic cover of Radiohead's 'Everything In Its Right Place'); the beautiful live concept album Aquarian Moon, inspired by a visit to the enchanted Greek Island of Santorini (so inspiring that he moved there), plus numerous remixes including DJ Jazzy Jeff's 'Rock With You' and Roy Ayers' 'Tarzan.' Regarding the direction of his newest mix, Osunlade says, 'Passage is an exploration into the current transition of deep house through a more electronic, minimalist sound. I chose songs that I felt were consistent with what I understand as soulful, yet exists in the territory of tech. The mix begins as most of my mixes, with a nice build, vocal impressions and carries onward to a more freelance style of the genre.' The mix features his own productions, as well as prodigious talents mentored and enriched by his guidance, such as Boddhi Satva who has evolved a very minimal, yet spiritual sound."

Title: The Best Of Disco Demands
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: 2LP
Price: $23.50
Catalog #: BBE 173A-LP
Gatefold 2LP version, part one of two. "The Disco Demands series started sometime in the early 2000s - I couldn't give you an exact year because it didn't feel like a big deal, so I never noted it. I simply wanted to put out a compilation of some records I really liked and maybe make a little of the money back I was spending on them. Buy some food and stuff. There's always been Disco comps around of course but there was rarely anything that strayed too far from the standards, the same songs kept appearing over and over again, or the comps would feature records you could pick up anywhere for little money. I've never seen the point in that. I gave up judging a record on its value or rarity a long time ago but surely there's more to disco than Exodus, Martin Circus, Mass Production and all those Salsoul, West End and bloody Prelude records. So it was a nice surprise to find that there were other people out there who thought the same way. Volume 1 was pretty straightforward - just some nice records, with the only edit being an instrumental of Disco Socks; a strange, thinly veiled reference to the disco sucks movement."

Special limited edition five disc set of ultra rare 1970s disco, compiled and edited by Al Kent. Sturdy outerbox packaging with a booklet and individual picture CD sleeves inside. "The Disco Demands series started sometime in the early 2000s - I couldn't give you an exact year because it didn't feel like a big deal, so I never noted it. Volume 1 was pretty straightforward - just some nice records, with the only edit being an instrumental of 'Disco Socks'; a strange, thinly veiled reference to the disco sucks movement. Then on Volume 2 I included a few of my edits and introduced the cover up concept to the disco world. That caused a bit of controversy, which of course I loved. And so it continued for five volumes. What we have here then is the full series, give or take one or two cuts, all remastered, many re-re-edited, with lots of nice naked pictures to boot."

Title: Johnny D Presents Disco Jamms Volume One
Label: BBE (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $17.50
Catalog #: BBE 192CD
"Johnny 'D' DeMairo has always been about disco. It was something that underpinned his seminal house label Henry Street Music (named after a cross street in his Brooklyn neighborhood), the imprint he set up with Tommy Musto in 1993. It was a place where the particles of classic disco and the four-to-the-floor throb of house music were smashed together to create something new, something that would extend the life of these underground anthems and introduce them to a new audience. Armand Van Helden, Kenny Dope, Lil' Louie Vega, Terry Hunter, DJ Sneak, Todd Terry, DJ Duke; they all turned it out for Henry Street, and tracks like Dope's 'The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)' and Van Helden's 'The Funk Phenomena' made it a pivotal part of house music history. This selection is about the tracks that would inform Henry Street, the tracks found deep within the complex strings of its DNA, the tracks championed by Pettibone on Kiss or by Washington at the Studio, or those dredged from crates across the city. Half-heard anthems from Italy tracked down through forensic research in the record shops of the five boroughs, rare dub versions of classics that you won't be finding on eBay anytime soon."
