Artist: KLANG
Title: No Sound Is Heard
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: PTYT 001CD
Klang's debut album on the Blast First Petite label features nine tracks and is the follow-up to the UK trio's brilliant L.O.V.E./No Thing single (For Us, 2003). Klang formed in 2002 when Donna Matthews (formerly of Elastica) and Isabel Waidner met Japanese drummer Keisuke Hiratsuka in a used record shop in London. A truly original Brit-pop group into scratchy, loopy, downbeat tunes, leaning like neo-expressionist drunkards toward the likes of Can, The Fall, and Kraftwerk.

Artist: SLITS, THE
Title: The Return of the Giant Slits
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $27.50
Catalog #: PTYT 008CD
The full, original 1981 Return of the Giant Slits album + a bonus CD that features ALL the archived dub versions and an American radio interview conducted at the time that was subsequently used by CBS for an ultra-rare promo disc. Including new cover art and two of the classic photos by Anton Corbijn from the NME magazine cover session. The 1981 second and final Slits studio album features the same line-up as their first album, Cut: Ari Up, Tessa Pollit and Viv Albertine. This record has often been overshadowed by their more controversial 1979 debut. It represents their natural development as artistes by focusing more on their interests in dub and "world music" sound eclecticism (featuring Steve Beresford and ex-Pop Group drummer, Bruce Smith) that is well suited to their, by then, more accomplished playing style. Perhaps, in retrospect, the Jamaican half-sister to The Raincoats recordings. A "lost" gem, ripe for reappraisal, of this still vastly influential and important group, in both musical and sociological terms. Produced by Dennis Bovell and Dick O'Dell (Y Records). Previously only available as an expensive Japanese import and never before released in the USA.

Artist: SUICIDE
Title: Live 1977-1978
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 6CD
Price: $44.00
Catalog #: PTYT 011CD
New lower pricing. Limited edition of 3000, 6CD set. Audio verité recordings (mastered by the incomparable Denis Blackham) of Suicide playing live from September 1977 to August 1978. These recordings cover most of their early shows at CBGBs and Max's Kansas City, plus their first-ever tour across Europe and the UK, these being their dates outside the USA. As you will hear, a crucial year in Suicide's development as both musicians and performers and their mission to stretch the label of punk rock to the very limit. The package includes a 40-page booklet of Suicide & Red Star Records memorabilia (including very rare Red Star press releases) from the personal archives of Howard Thompson, the A&R man that signed Suicide to UK label Bronze Records. Only the infamous 23 Minutes Over Brussels has been legally released before. From soundcheck and post-gig snippets to crowd noise to a radio advertisement for Our Price Record Stores, these recordings are raw and real. From the liner notes: "This set of recordings are not for the faint hearted, nor is it the ideal place to start for those first time listeners seeking an easy entry into the dark and decidedly queasy world of Alan Vega and Marty Rev's proto-futuristic, low- tech sci-fi musical that they launched on a mostly uncaring world as music group Suicide. Howard Thompson's archive was originally made purely for his personal reference based on a joyless recognition that he was right there seeing history in the making. We've presented the gigs in the order they happened, all the better to hear how the Suicide live experience develops. If you want homogenized, sanitized, tweaked and combed, P.C.'d 'punk,' put this baby back on eBay and sell it for profit to one who maybe really wants the use of these leather black skrying mirrors." --Paul Smith, Blastfirstpetite (2008)

Artist: HTRK

Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 12"

Catalog #: PTYT 012EP
A mysterious three-piece from Melbourne, HTRK (pronounced "Hate Rock") exercise sublime tension and beauty, calling to mind David Lynch, The Birthday Party and Pita. "Panties" is a visceral outpouring recorded live in Belfast at the end of their 2007 European tour supporting the Liars.

Artist: PANSONIC/HAINO KEIJI
Title: Shall I Download A Blackhole And Offer It To You
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 014CD
Blast First Petite presents the complete live concert recording of a musical duel/last waltz between stand-up Finnish electronic technicians Pansonic (Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen) and Japanese guitar shaman, Haino Keiji. Performed at Berlin's Volksbühne on November 15, 2007. Drone and percussive rumbling vs. soaring guitar scrawl in a tooth-and-nail cage match. Magic. Mystery. All bow. Deluxe packaging designed by Stephen O'Malley (Khanate, Sunn O)))).

Artist: HTRK
Title: Marry Me Tonight
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 016CD
This is the debut full-length release from HTRK (an acronym for "Hate Rock Trio"). Originally from Melbourne, Australia, they moved to Berlin in 2007, and then to London in 2008. Initially started as the duo of Sean Stewart and Nigel Yang in 2003, they later added vocalist Jonnine Standish for a moody/no wave rock trio formation that is made all the more compelling by repetitive, stupor-inducing bass lines, industrial drum-machine clangs, streaking guitar and Standish's smoky, vaguely tuneless, amorphous voice. Steadily building significant buzz, their Ha/Panties (Live) 12"/download was named "single of the month" by February 2009's Artrocker: "...more mood than band, they are a feeling, a trance." John Kennedy -- a highly influential DJ at the UK's hot-tip radio station XFM -- is a big fan and has plugged the single several times. Glasgow's Optimo club and London's White Heat were early adopters with regular club plays and several live shows. Fire Records originally released their demo package Nostalgia (2007), and since then, the band has garnered constant praise and interest that is spreading from shore to shore -- perhaps even more so having performed as an opener for Liars in Europe in 2008. Captivatingly murky, new post-rock scrawl whose sparseness harkens UK warehouse spaces of old.

Artist: HORRORS, THE/SUICIDE
Title: Shadazz
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 10"
Price: $7.00
Catalog #: PTYT 018EP
This is number two in Blast First Petite's year-long series of limited edition 10" vinyl EPs celebrating Alan Vega's 70th birthday. The UK band du jour The Horrors present their version of "Shadazz," specially recorded for this series, and delivered with a twisted dub menace that could point towards an expanding sound-world for these dark princes! Previously unreleased anywhere, the flipside begins with Suicide's 1980s NYC live version of "Radiation," and Nik Void (a new persona for Kaito's Nikki Colk) does a propulsive, 'tronic floor-filler for cool alt/art discos everywhere. Edition of 3,000, cover image by Alex Rose.

(En)Chanted voices re-encode half-heard street mutterings. Hypnagogic mellow-trons swathe summer solar breezes. Provocative cover art by Cary Kwok. A limited edition of 1,500.

Artist: PRIMAL SCREAM/SUICIDE
Title: Diamonds, Furcoat, Champagne/Ghostrider
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 10"
Price: $7.00
Catalog #: PTYT 020EP
This is number three in Blast First Petite's year-long series of limited edition 10" vinyl EPs celebrating Alan Vega's 70th birthday. Primal Scream get all glam-rocked up for this bouncing sing-a-long led by Bobby "Stardust" Gillespie with the stealth viciousness of Miss Kittin. 3:33, the sign of the beast halved, the song freshly un-pickled, just like Damien (Omen or Hirst) would have wanted it served. The B-side features a version of Suicide performing "Ghostrider" from a recently-rediscovered demo taping from their legendary first album, partnered with a slinky, Roxy Music-esque rendition of "D.F.C." by Devastations' long tall leader, Conrad Standish. Sleeve by China's Fang Lujin. Limited edition of 3,000.

Artist: KLAXONS/ALAN VEGA/NO BRA
Title: Sweetheart/Speedway/Super Subway Comedian
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 10"
Price: $7.00
Catalog #: PTYT 026EP
Blast First Petite continues to celebrate Alan Vega's 70th birthday with three Vega tracks, performed by the man himself, Klaxons and No Bra. The Klaxons drop a photo-realist mind bomb upside ya head. Jamie trips out on Vega's start of the '80s Ballardian ballad... with a 21st century added sugar-high hit. Sticky with lurve. Meanwhile, waaay out on the flipside, Suze Oberbeck irons IN the kinks. Wears her No Bra on her sleeve, if you get the drift. A Xerox lovingly re-Xeroxed till it hurts, then becomes a thing of beauty all its own. Twisted and tight. Front cover by Alexander McQueen.

Artist: FRIDAY & DAVE BALL/THOMAS BRINKMANN/ALAN VEGA, GAVIN
Title: Ghostrider
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 10"
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: PTYT 027EP
Blast First Petite continues to celebrate Alan Vega's 70th birthday. Mr. Gavin Friday, solo artist, one-time singer with The Virgin Prunes in this unique collaboration with David Ball, the musical maverick of Soft Cell & The Grid, present a specially recorded, subtly re-coded, poptastic dancefloor shudder-fest version of Suicide's "Ghostrider." Thomas Brinkmann's 2005 dancefloor twitch-out is teleported in to crash his own party. "Puss On Tha Time Warp" sees Vega speed-dialing up car radio statics with a jazz break. Cover art by Alan Vega in a limited edition of 1,000.

Artist: VEGA WITH A.R.E. WEAPONS, ALAN
Title: See Tha' Light/War
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: PTYT 034EP
Blast First Petite continues to celebrate Alan Vega's 70th birthday with two new tracks Vega recorded with New York-based duo A.R.E. Weapons. "See Tha' Light" is a truly unique & titanic stutter-gun, glitch-glam groove over which Vega calls down one of his classic croonings from the cross -- love, death, sex... the whole damn nine yards. "War" is the cover of Edwin Starr's classic and another example of this nu-funked, futuristic, maxed-out dancefloor minimalist shit. Preacher Vega proclaims the abiding law of peace & love from atop his scrap car and dumped TV pulpit.

Artist: FAHEY, JOHN

Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: DVD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 037DVD
Shot live for TV by the legendary German music show "Rockpalast," this DVD represents the earliest example of a complete John Fahey concert performance, given on March 17, 1978. The multi-camera filming features detailed close-ups of Fahey's playing style, giving Fahey fans a rare insight into what Pete Townshend has called the William Burroughs of the guitar. Fahey's 1978 visit to Europe saw him in fine wild form, performing an 10-track set and, as an incredibly rare bonus, a short interview with the maverick iconoclast. All-Region NTSC-compatible DVD in CD digipak. Location: Audimax, Hamburg. John Fahey: vocals, guitar.

Artist: COYNE, KEVIN
Title: 1979 Live At WDR-Studio L Cologne
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: DVD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 039DVD
Kevin Coyne remains one of the UK's greatest lost cult talents; one of John Peel's all-time favorite musicians, and an acknowledged artistic hero of contemporary talents as diverse as Will Oldham and John Lydon. His then-record company Virgin described him as the ultimate anti-star. This super-rare recording was shot live in 1979 for the legendary German TV music program "Rockpalast," when Kevin was at the height of his considerable performing powers. The DVD features some 18 songs from across his then-career (1973 to 1979) and serves as almost a personal greatest hits set, and features him in a solo and duet (with Zoot Money) setting, for an intimate and energetic example of Coyne's unique charms. All-Region NTSC-compatible DVD in CD digipak. Kevin Coyne: vocals & guitar; Zoot Money: keyboards.

Artist: REV, MARTIN
Title: Stigmata
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 040CD
Martin Rev, the avant keyboard half of NYC punk pioneers Suicide, releases a solo album on the Blast First Petite label. Stigmata was recorded in New York City and features 14 tracks that heave with glitched-out, digitally-distorted, synthetic orchestral sounds -- quite unlike anything he has released before. A timely "flash-forward" of an album, it has already been described as "genius" by Spiritualized main man, Jason Pierce, and continues Rev's now four decades of eclectic electronic musicianship. And to further celebrate the album's release, Neu Galleries (London) showed a series of Rev's "abstract instinctive scores" throughout November 2009. Blast First Petite also continues to celebrate Martin Rev's partner, Alan Vega's 70th birthday with the release of their Suicide covers series with tracks from Bruce Springsteen, Primal Scream, Peaches, Sunn 0))), Lydia Lunch, Iggy Pop, Julian Cope, Vincent Gallo, and many more.

Artist: CAZAZZA, MONTE
Title: The Cynic
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: PTYT 042CD
Monte Cazazza is a San Francisco-based industrial music pioneer, artist and filmmaker and a genuinely unique artist whose influence on culture in the 20th century has yet to be recognized. The Cynic is Monte's first album since the early '80s. His original releases were through Throbbing Gristle's Industrial Records and San Fran's Subterranean Records. He was regularly featured in the seminal RE/Search magazine and books. In the early '90s, Mute Records gathered most of his earlier recordings together for a Worst Of Monte Cazazza compilation. This early work was harsh, mostly perceived as violently anti-social and often quite shocking. The Cynic sees him unwittingly mine a vein of highly in vogue "retro" synth-pop and TV theme tune soundtracks in a uniquely Monte way. The album is a Rolls Royce release for those industrial/noise fans who can hear beyond the adolescent screech-fests that the genre has been reduced to. To that end, The Wire magazine is publishing a major, Jack Sargent-written feature that serves as a great overview of his often mysterious career, which has frequently seen Monte self-sabotage any attempt to have the outside world engage with his work.

Artist: PANSONIC/HAINO KEIJI
Title: Synergy Between Mercy And Self-Annihilation Overturned
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: 2LP
Price: $30.50
Catalog #: PTYT 043LP
Limited LP-only release. Blast First Petite presents a studio collaboration between Finnish electronic technicians Pansonic (Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen) and Japanese guitar shaman, Haino Keiji. Recorded only days after their performance together in Berlin that resulted in the powerful and haunting live album Shall I Download A Black Hole And Offer It To You (PTYT 014CD). Synergy Between Mercy And Self-Annihilation Overturned is a more controlled, even tense, affair, where the participants circle each other like gladiators at the Colosseum. No more needs to be said that isn't already alluded to with the fabulous, mysterious track-titles. Housed in a lavish gatefold sleeve with spot-varnished lettering and glossy inner sleeves. Deluxe packaging designed by Stephen O'Malley (Khanate, Sunn O)))).

No live shows whatsoever are planned to celebrate their 15-year run at the forefront of expanding the electronic music scene (although Ilpo would still like to play in Africa someday soon). Artist: MCPHEE, DEAN
Title: Brown Bear
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: PTYT 046CD
West Yorkshire's Dean McPhee self-released on his own Hood Faire label a limited 12" in 2009. Blast First Petite picked up rights for this CD re-release after hearing a track on WFMU New York, and Dean has gone on to record a new album for BFP. John Peel's son, Tom Ravenscroft gave the 12" an honorable mention in a round-up of his current favorite music. In New York, a store reported that it seems every time they put the record on they sell one, so immediate is the "McPhee Effect." Reviews of the 12": Brainwashed: "This is a very promising and assured first release, as McPhee displays a rare combination of technical skill, simplicity, and subtle unpredictability." Boomkat: "Dean McPhee offers a more complete picture of his talents as a solo guitarist on this new 12" for the Hood Faire label. Playing clean electric guitar without too much in the way of reverb, McPhee plucks his way through some lovely instrumentals here, perhaps bringing to mind John Fahey's more melodic Table Of The Elements output or certain Six Organs Of Admittance recordings. Best of the bunch is the B-side-filling title track which makes good use of delay/loop pedals and stirs up a wonderfully dense atmospheric backdrop after the more skeletal, naturalistic sounds of the A-side. Recommended." Foxy Digitalis: "Arguably the best solo guitar record in the past few years. 10/10."

Artist: MCPHEE, DEAN

Quiet-time music; summer fields and winter fire-tending. Future dub folk from an olde English tradition that no one can quite put their finger on. Blast First Petite re-released his initial Brown Bear EP on CD in spring of 2010 to a growing press awareness of this young man's talents with Boomkat, Brainwashed and Foxy Digitalis giving him the big ears kudos and MOJO and Tom Ravenscroft firmly planting the McPhee flag as a talent to watch out for. Artist: CHAPMAN, MICHAEL
Title: The Resurrection And Revenge Of The Clayton Peacock
Label: BLAST FIRST PETITE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: PTYT 068CD
Following its original Summer 2011 release as a 500 copies limited-edition vinyl release for Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! label, Michael Chapman's The Resurrection And Revenge Of The Clayton Peacock is now released on CD for the first time by Blast First Petite. For those already aware of the Yorkshire-born composer, singer, guitarist and self-confessed maverick troubadour, Chapman's Clayton Peacock recording may come as something of a surprise. The music here is unlike anything he has crafted before, casting aside his skills as a songwriter and focusing on improvisation for the first time. The LP was Wire magazine's No. 5 Album Of The Year, after it received a full-page rave review by Edwin Pouncey and later, Chapman himself received his own Invisible Jukebox feature. Chapman, along with Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, John Fahey et al, was a significant and historical informant for this young set. But he claimed to have never even entertained the notion of an LP of exclusively improvised playing. Anyone who has had the good fortune to hear Michael just take off in the middle of his songs and simply shred into zones of in-and-out-of-the-chakras stratosphere knows that such an idea could only be wildly welcomed.
