Title:
Serious Moonlight/Cylinder Swing
Label:
CLR (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
CLR 021EP
"After his latest work on Kompakt Extra and for the Swedish Drumcode label, Perc is back with two powerful tracks that fits CLR's profile! 'Serious Moonlight' on the A-side is a veritable stomping tune with a stoic bass drum that dies away in the break, just to keep marching in its original splendor afterward. Excellent and efficient. 'Cylinder Swing' on the B-side builds in a similar way, but instead of culminating with its wall of sound into a climax, Perc always reduces the tension, to instantly 'swing around the corner' with different sounds."

BAU, ALEX
Title:
Diabolika EP
Label:
CLR (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
CLR 022EP
"In 'Diabolika,' the bass drum stumbles skillfully into the break, and the sounds patter down like a load of gravel when a digger unloads the shovel. A brief backpedaling and the bass drum marches on -- with double intensity. The flipside 'Gusts' shows how the bass drum can cooperate perfectly with diverse static noises. Later on it will be vexed by a clap with an imperative that has not been heard in a long time. Alex Bau in top form."

10 Years CLR

CLR (GERMANY)

CD
Price:

Catalog #:
CLR 008CD
German producer
Chris Liebing
celebrates the 10th anniversary of his CLR label (an acronym for "Create -- Learn -- Realize). He's always been true to his techno roots, from the legendary Omen days to CLRetry to his Residency at Space in Ibiza. He's got a lot in common with
Speedy J
: the Zen attitude, the hunger for development in digital Djing and production that leads to involvement with custom soft- and hardware, the obvious bliss that tough and sexy grooving beats invoke in them. And last but not least, ethical values that strive to push the musically advanced over the safe standard, the talent over the hype. This is music that is unarguably underground -- a driving force behind re-introducing a darker, harder style of techno back to the floors. On this compilation, you'll discover a universe of relentless, high-tech beats and soundscapes. Big bass drops unveil sexy grooves, massaging the body from belly to fingertips. Hypnotizing patterns and reverb rooms surround pounding beats and sudden high-range attacks. These tracks work like crazy on the floor, and that's a proven fact. This is what techno sounds like on a 2010 technology level -- big room and tough, but ballsy and slick, functional yet innovative. This collection features techno protagonists you'll know from the last 10 years such as
Adam Beyer
,
Alex Bau
,
Speedy J
,
Chris Liebing vs. Green Velvet
,
Function vs. Jerome Sydenham
and new faces no less brilliant, such as
Dustin Zahn
,
Brian Sanhaji
,
Monoloc
,
Pfirter
, and of course
Tommy Four Seven
. All artists produced their tracks exclusively for this project, giving it a unique character. Techno enters its third decade stronger than ever with no end in sight, and CLR will help shape that future.

Title:
Traversable Wormhole Vol. 01-05
Label:
CLR (GERMANY)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CLR 009CD
In 2009, a series of five anonymously-produced ink-stamped vinyl recorded releases appeared in the global techno scene under the mysterious guise
Traversable Wormhole
. The series was released exclusively on vinyl. The sound of Traversable Wormhole is a unique signature of sci-fi laden techno music with gaps of time, space & bass in between sound & rhythm. Within a month's time of its conception, volume 2 of the series appeared and a huge buzz was soon amassed on the project. Accusations of who the artist behind the project was ran wild. People all over the techno scene had made theories about who was behind it. The project quickly received huge support from many of the world's most renowned techno shops such as Rub A Dub, Hardwax, and Juno & Decks. Word traveled fast through the wormhole and it was soon reported that globally respected DJs such as
Chris Liebing
,
Ben Klock
,
Marcel Dettmann
,
Mathew Herbert
,
Ryan Elliot
,
André Galluzzi
,
Surgeon
,
Function
,
Frankie Bones
,
DJ Deep & Radioslave
, etc. were all supporting the sound of TW. With the series fast approaching into further galaxies with the appearance of volume 3, techno cult blogsite MNMLSSG tracked down TW via Twitter. A sonar ping was sent back to the popular blog and soon a Traversable Wormhole mix appeared anonymously on the site, receiving rave reviews. As the series continued with volume 5 by the end of year 2009, the mystique of anonymity continued to grow. To usher in the very start of 2010, Traversable Wormhole would release the 6th volume of the series. At the same time, 20 year veteran techno artist/DJ
Adam X
, originally from NYC and now residing in Berlin, would be invited to partake in a feature called "Playing Favorites" on Resident Advisor, on which he would subtly take claim as the producer behind Traversable Wormhole. While traversing the wormhole, Adam has crossed paths with Chris Liebing and his CLR imprint.
Traversable Wormhole Vol. 01-05
now appears in digital format for the first time ever with all five volumes being digitally remastered in the highest of quality.
Traversable Wormhole Vol. 01-05
is a full-length mix of all 10 songs, mixed by Adam X himself.

TOMMY FOUR SEVEN
Title:
Primate
Label:
CLR (GERMANY)
Format:
CD
Price:
$17.00
Catalog #:
CLR 010CD
This is the debut album of UK-born and Berlin-based DJ, producer and sound designer
Tommy Four Seven
. Due to its unconventional and innovative production ethos, the record sets itself apart from the majority of contemporary techno productions. Tommy Four Seven did not use any of the traditional percussion and beat sounds, such as hi-hats, snares, rides, shakers or claps, nor did he choose to work with synthesizers. Instead, he used field recordings as the catalyst to shape rhythm and sound, many of which he recorded in his daily life in the city or on the road, and which are alienated beyond recognition. In addition to this, where most would use synthesizers, Tommy instead sculptured engaging vocal recordings, simply adding new and unusual textures to the sonic picture. Musically,
Primate
is deep and hypnotic, driving and exhilarating, with downright unorthodox beat structures and sequences. It delivers everything one could expect from a current techno production, without using a single cliché. When
Chris Liebing
first listened to it, he was immediately fascinated and amazed. This different avenue of techno seemed to be perfectly in line with the new, slightly more free-spirited and experimental CLR philosophy. That is why apart from offering to release the record, he even got involved with the finishing touches of the production, helping to make "the bass sound mega-hot" (as Tommy called it).
Primate
is a unique and uncompromising debut album from a young and promising techno pioneer. Awesome deluxe hardbound digi-book packaging.

Label:

Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
CLR 029EP
This is the first release in a series of five singles, available on 10" vinyl (1-5) in celebration of CLR's 10th anniversary.
Chris Liebing
and
Green Velvet
teamed up for the first time pretty much by accident.
Dustin Zahn
actually became some kind of obstetrician when he started this mash-up.
Alex Bau
is a long-time CLR artist and obviously had to contribute a track to the series. Both tracks are road-tested and guarantee serious damage on the dancefloors.

Function vs. Jerome Sydenham

Pfirter
. "Mi Estudio" is one of the biggest tunes, and it causes major damage on the dancefloor. "Two Ninety One" is a consciousness-altering, dynamic track.

Antifunk/Purple
Label:
CLR (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.50
Catalog #:
CLR 040EP
Perc
presents a memorable record for CLR. While "Antifunk" is straightforward techno, characterized by Perc's ceaseless sonic experimentation, "Purple" basically breaks with everything heard on CLR before. But even though the beat pattern is unconventional, and even though he uses all kinds of influences from different musical styles, Perc never loses sight of the dancefloor. With this record, CLR releases its first broken beat track and heralds a new, slightly more experimental phase in the musical history of the label.

MOTOR
presents their fourth album, which opens a new chapter in the history of the band. After completing three massively-successful and critically-acclaimed techno albums,
Bryan Black
and
Oly Grasset
, who together form the duo MOTOR, have shifted gears and recorded a song-based vocal album by the name of
Man Made Machine
. The album was conceived during their world tour with
Depeche Mode
in 2009 when
Dave Gahan
fell ill and the band found themselves in a hotel in Berlin with time on their hands. It features the vocalists
Martin L. Gore
(Depeche Mode),
Gary Numan
,
Billie Ray Martin
(
S' Express
,
Electribe 101
) and Motown's rising new star,
Reni Lane
. When MOTOR secretly played the first single from the upcoming album (also titled
Man Made Machine
) on a BBC radio broadcast, it got over 10,000 views within hours of being ripped and broadcasted on YouTube. The reactions from Depeche Mode and MOTOR fans are absolutely ecstatic. One online comment, which has often been quoted and agreed to, is that "Man Made Machine" sounds like the modern version of the Depeche Mode track "Personal Jesus" -- a royal honor for the guys from MOTOR. It is no coincidence that the album features some of the key figures in the evolution of electronic music. MOTOR have played as the main support act on sold-out tours for Gary Numan,
Nitzer Ebb
and Depeche Mode and have been considered one of their best-received support acts. They have performed on the main stages of all the top festivals with acts like
Daft Punk
,
Kraftwerk
,
Soulwax
,
Justice
, etc. They are known for having one of the most explosive and entertaining live shows in dance music. Other than that, MOTOR's music has been featured on various HBO and Showtime TV programs, in films and in several Playstation and Nintendo video games. Their impressive list of remixes includes "Precious" by Depeche Mode. In Mixmag 2006, Depeche Mode actually listed this one as their favourite DM remix of all time. This should in itself be enough to create some pleasant anticipation of the upcoming album and tour from these unconventional techno pioneers. Housed in a silver foil electrostatic bag.

Here's a new 12" from
Jay Haze
. The title track features the lovely
Laila Tov
on vocal duties. This song is purely infectious -- it has a groove for everyone and an immensely positive vibe. The flipside is where "The Darkest Disco" lives, and came about when
Ricardo Villalobos
stopped by the studio, turned on the machines and started hitting keys and buttons. It's warm, has long builds and a vibe which can only culminate when these dudes are together.
