Artist: REBOLLEDO
Title: Super Vato
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: COMEME 001CD
Mexico's finest Mauricio Rebolledo has found a road to new frontiers because nobody beats the drum like him. Since his first appearance on the Cómeme label, he emerged as one of the most spotlighted figures out of the furious tribe of DJs, producers, and connoisseurs of the art of living. His unpredictable DJ sets have always been good for some fresh groove adventures -- be it tripping dark '80s disco, techno, funk, cosmic, synth-wave, or Latin EBM-style. His home is La Pitaya -- an area in the woods not far from the town Xalapa, the famous "Ciudad de las Flores" in the south-east of Mexico. Rebolledo headed south, went to the coastal town Playa Del Carmen, and opened the bar Corvette Ninja. He also hooked up with the legendary club La Santanera, where he met the Kompakt artists Tobias Thomas., Michael Mayer, Superpitcher and Matias Aguayo during his DJ residency. They all befriended him and took him under their wings to work on some fierce dance music. The result was the first Cómeme release, Bo Jack/Pitaya Frenesi -- an infectious double A-side EP that earned worldwide applause and took the dancefloors by storm. Since then, Rebolledo's life changed entirely. He designed the club, TOPAZdeluxe in the north east Mexican town Monterrey which he co-runs and curates. He travels constantly to South America, spends his summers in Europe, is half of the duo Pachanga Boys (with Superpitcher). His heart remains with the Cómeme tribe, blazing new trails in the dance music universe with a polyrhythmic, jacking sound-kaleidoscope that ranges from cúmbia, techno, disco, kwaito, cosmic, to house. In this family of fearless musicians, Rebolledo created a trademark sound that he describes as music that is inspired by the emotions that emerge when he listens to the power of The Warriors movie theme, the energy of "Billy Jean's" beat, the drive of the bass synth in Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase," the dark motion of the bass rhythm that drives "Thriller," and the anger of the snare drum of a Mexican military march. But the DJ and producer can't boogie alone. That's why he has delivered Super Vato -- an album of ten hypnotic tracks that pool together all temptations of the night. Cinematic beat music, full of psychedelic drill. A record like a John Carpenter movie: foggy, dark, thrilling, and full of scary special effects. Created with a '70s vintage Woody organ, Hammond rhythm machine, shakers, cowbells, and the Mexican donkey jaw and fuelled by marching drums, synths, percussion, and roaring car engines. With the help of befriended singers and musicians such as Rodrigo Cano, Matias Aguayo, Superpitcher, Diegors, Raquel Wolff, Miriam Torres, and Philipp Gorbachev, he grooves towards a new horizon and keeps it raw and basic. A record that absorbs you the more and more you listen to it.

Artist: AGUAYO/REBOLLEDO, MATIAS
Title: Bo Jack/Pitaya Frenesi
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 001EP
"Cómeme is a label with its working base in Buenos Aires, founded and run by Matías Aguayo and Gary Pimiento. Starting with spontaneous and itinerant parties on the streets of the Argentinean capital, parties called 'bumbumbox' (which later would travel through huge parts of Latin America), Gary, Matias and their musician, dancer and DJ -- friends felt the necessity of running a label that represents the sound that resulted from this way of partying. The sound they created, in collaboration with friends from Buenos Aires, Santiago, Asuncion, is a result of collective work and a common esthetic search between different cities. On their first release, they deliver us two superb tracks in its vocal and instrumental versions. 'Bo Jack': There is no doubt, doing an hommage to Bo Diddley on one of his tracks is not an empty gesture at all; in opposite we find all spontaneity and fury of a Bo Diddley beat, Aguayo throwing haunting onomatopoeia on a track that is already pumping on the dancefloors in Santiago and Buenos Aires. The track features vocals by Buenos Aires' Ladybumbox. 'Pitaya Frenesí': Being another hit on hot summer night street parties, 'Pitaya Frenesí' is the ecstasy of trying a tropical fruit of exuberant flavour and stretching this sensation as long as possible. That's what Rebolledo (Xalapa, Mexico), an experienced DJ reaches with this track. Prolonging and expanding that moment of nocturnal euphoria where notions of time and space are lost. Dancefloor frenzy Pitaya Frenesí counts with vocal participation of Matias Aguayo."

Artist: AGUAYO/DJ PAREJA, MATIAS
Title: Street Sound
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 003EP
"Matías Aguayo: Matias is Chilean but was raised literally and musically in Cologne. As a touring DJ, especially in South America, where he now has his base, he has developed his knowledge of local dance music and deepened his relations with artists from different places on this planet, especially Latin America. His two tracks here are stripped down and tough but very 'Latin' both rhythmically and melodically, reminding of early tracks from the '80s 'Latin freestyle' genre. 'Street Sound' is a bumbumbox classic, while the bitter sweet 'I was in love' is already a big hit across South American blogs. DJ Pareja is Mariano Caloso and Diego Irasusta, a DJ duo who have been famous in their native Buenos Aires from the '90s onwards. So far they have only released records in Buenos Aires, which combine their love of pop and house, with Mariano's suave voice and Diego's dramatic electro pop arrangements. You can still hear these influences on this debut release for Cómeme, but these two tracks are dance floor orientated and rhythmic. The pumping 'Kenia' slowly builds soft rhythms and a one note melody into an intensity brought into sharp relief by a dark melody over a pumping bass line. 'Tribal Scream' builds from a jungle atmosphere with bird calls, into a bass line punctured by a screaming melody, and trance stabs."

Title: Guerrero
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 004EP
This is the first solo release by Mexico's Rebolledo, who has a quirky sense of humor, a unique Latin American approach, and a light, lo-fi touch. "Guerrero" is all shouted vocals, simple beats, and '80s synths. "Venganza Y Seducción features suggestive vocals over a cosmic disco bass line, with atmospheric chords. "Marchante" presents aggressive kick drums, a pulsing bass line, siren-like synths and tough drum patterns. "Raid..." sounds like Chicago acid, with nonsensical vocals over a pulsing rhythm.

Title: Ritmo Especial
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 006EP
Matías Aguayo and Gary Pimiento's Cómeme label has been specifically formed to highlight artists making dance music in South America. The tracks are inspired by and made for their Buenos Aires-based Bumbumbox street parties, where makeshift sound systems are built from linked-together ghetto blasters. There is no place for the cold 4/4 engineering of minimal techno here -- these tracks are about chunky rhythm, melody and color. Artists include: Daniel Maloso, Matías Aguayo, Christian S., Rebolledo, and Raquel Wolff.

Artist: REBOLLEDO + MALOSO
Title: Desierto
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 007EP
Rebolledo and Daniel Maloso present this epic EP, a score for an imaginary, mysterious Western, full of hypnotic disco-beats, furious guitar chords and rattlesnake shakers. A Cómeme adventure where the traces of Morricone, Argento, Patrick Cowley, Kenneth Anger and the typical caveman rhythms of Rebolledo and Daniel Maloso melt under the relentless desert sun into an epic adventure of 2010 outdoor dance psychedelia.

Artist: HELDER, ANA
Title: Complicado
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 008EP
Hailing from Argentina, Ana Helder represents a generation of young producers in South America with a fresh approach to underground house music. "Complicado" is an epic track that brings menacing techno together with disco and house. "Buena Punteria" is extreme body music with a strobe-lit rhythm. "El Groove De Tu Corazón" is a special track a good DJ knows how to use, and "Next Club" combines a seductive bass line and vocals with the grooviness of Chicago house and Colombian champeta.

Artist: MALOSO, DANIEL
Title: Hijos De José
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 009EP
Maloso's disco is undeniable -- already the creator of "Ritmo Especial," hailed by Bleep/Warp as one of the top tracks of 2010, which you definitely heard in every DJ set Michael Mayer dished out. "Hijos De José" crosses the genre spectrum and ingeniously spits out sweat-drenching, musical madness. Maloso vocally plays with the title lyric "Noy Doy Nada" in every which way, and "Caracol" is purely instrumental hand-clap disco à la Metro Area tweaked out with a killer arpeggio.

Title: Chilean Pop
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 010EP
Chilean Pop is a special EP that digs up Cómeme's connections in Santiago de Chile and sees some of the most beloved artists of the label remixing a couple of bands from the current underground Chilean pop music scene. Fredi Michel's hit from 2005 "Enganami!" is remixed here by Broke, "Marinero" is remixed by Diegors aka Diego Morales while Matias Aguayo and Diego Morales' collaboration remixes "La Gata Negra" by $990. Also features a Javiera Mena remix by Rebolledo.

Artist: MORALES, DIEGO
Title: Sacándose Uno
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 011EP
Diegor's first solo EP is a colorful result of all of his influences and experiences, and a true reflection of his great dancefloor knowledge. It is dirty and rough, heavily rhythmic, extremely musical, playful and full of the "locura" (craziness) techno tracks need. This dark adventure, full of magic, groove and imagination is another Cómeme production beyond the clichés of what is supposed to be "Latin."

Artist: GORBACHEV, PHILIPP

Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)

The Delta is a symbolic and poetic place -- where the flow of the river enters the ocean. The Delta gives the feeling of rhythm. The Delta is the supreme destination. The Delta refers to hanging out in the city streets. Essential in The Delta is the spirit of conscious spontaneity, collaborations with artists, jam sessions, highs and lows, night-time, stories and other basic habits from the primordial age of music. Title: The Power Of Now
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 013EP
Tracks by Barnt, Dany F, Christian S and Philipp Gorbachev & Hugo Capablanca. This EP brings together artists from Moscow, Medellin and Cologne, as well as guests from Spain. It's a collection of tracks that translate Cómeme's ever-quintessential voltage into different musical temperaments, drawing the bow from infectious, semi-electronic body music and cumbia-inspired rhythm affairs to detached, pitch-frenzied sequence-disco and a sphinx creature with fanfares and whiplashes.

Artist: JOHAN, ISAAC
Title: Every Time I See Your Face
Label: COMEME (ARGENTINA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: COMEME 014EP
Isaac Johan is a genuine ghost who joins the ever-growing, splendidly twisted company of Cómeme characters. This Isaac must have been to Detroit in the late '60s, to Weilerswist in the early '70s, to Düsseldorf, to Manchester and Sheffield, and finally to Chicago when house music hit. Consequently, his actual incarnation shows up as a maelstrom. Don't be afraid of ecstatic mantra-like vocals, hypnotic guitar riffs, haunting tom-tom action, mesmerizing marching beats and bass lines that get more and more absorbing.
