Artist: MUSICA DISPERSA
Title: Musica Dispersa
Label: DISCMEDI (SPAIN)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: DM 896CD
Classic reissue of one of the most heralded underground albums from Spain, originally issued in 1971. As recently featured on the Delay Records comp Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word. Deluxe digipak package with fold-out poster insert. "Spanish album from 1971 that featured the talent of three of the most significant musicians from the Catalonian underground movement of the late sixties: Jaume Sisa, J.M. Brabo ' El Cachas' and Albert Batiste, who after their Miniatura project with Pau Riba were joined by young hippie girl Selene. Echoes of The Incredible String Band are present mainly in the guitar parts; drums are absent in all but one track on which they are played by Josep M. Vilaseca 'Tapi', of Máquina & Tapiman fame, but percussion, harmonica, organ, mouth harp, piano and wordless vocals are heard throughout the album, as is Selene's flute work. All in all this is a strange, relaxing little piece of underground from Barcelona's early seventies hippie youth that has become a classic of Spanish pop music; a masterpiece full of melodic tunes that are equally indebted to the English folk music of the era, as they are to the early Amon Duül freakout sound concept."

Artist: SISA, JAUME
Title: Orgia
Label: DISCMEDI (SPAIN)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: DM 897CD
"Jaume Sisa was an important part of Musica Dispersa and is a folk-rock artist with a very idiosyncratic style. His first album Orgia was a prime example of psychedelic rock the Spanish way with Sisa followings his whim much like Robin Williamson (of Incredible String Band) in his heyday. The vocals and harmonica playing is a little indebted to Bob Dylan, but of course this is a lot stranger. Elsewhere there are kazoos, piano, tablas, recorders, snippets of tapes, and even occasional strings and brass. The same year, 1971, that Musica Dispersa was released, he also put out this great solo album. Crazy acid folk with lots of humour and weird vocals by Sisa himself."

Artist: LAGUARDA & TAPINERIA, PEP
Title: Brossa d'Ahir
Label: DISCMEDI (SPAIN)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: DM 899CD
"Digipack edition of this fantastic Spanish folk-rock record. This, the only album released by Pep Laguarda, was originally released in 1978 on the Ocre label (a sub-label of the infamous Belter), and today more than ever gets amazing reviews and feedback everywhere. Pep was helped by people like Daevid Allen and Pau Riba on this legendary album. Musically, it's the very highlight in the Spanish folk-rock history; melodic, hippie, well-crafted and with a strong Mediterranean feel, all these songs seem to be as young as they were in 1978."
