Disturbance
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 001EP
"Earwax is a new dubstep imprint presented by Bristol's' DJ Pinch and is set to feature some of the biggest dubplate rhythms drawn from his bag. Kickstarting the label into action is the awesome 12" produced by Manchester's rising talent, S.N.O. 'Disturbance' is a huge tune that drops with such an impact bassline, it always calls to be pulled up and run again. Fans of Coki (Digital Mystikz), Skream and Mark One will go wild over this one. Flip then for 'Back Yard Dub' and its lazy Sunday afternoon vibrations: dubbed out, melodic and charged with massive sub bass pressure. Highly recommended. Support from Pinch, The Plastician, Distance, Skream, Loefah, Mark One, N-type and many more."

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 002EP
"'Earwax is a new dubstep imprint presented by Bristol's DJ Pinch and is set to feature some of the big dubplate rhythms to be drawn from his bag. Following up from the awesome first release by S.N.O, 'Earwax turns to another new artist -- South London's up-and-coming Cluekid -- for the next excursion in dancefloor-friendly bass weight. 'Halogen' is a dubwise selection that leads in with a melodic, reggae-licked hook and scuttling, head nodder's drum beat, before dropping straight into pull-up anthem bass line business. Big and bold is the order of the day here. Flip then for 'Down & Dirty,' a more stripped-down minimal affair, going deeper and darker -- a true skunk-steppin' smoker's riddim. Bass built for systems that can handle the weight, chest plate rattler!! Support from: Pinch, Mary Anne Hobbs (Breezeblock BBC Radio One), Distance, Skream, Loefah, Chef, N-Type, Random Trio and many more."

Title:
Kapsize EP
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 003EP
"Bristol's Earwax draws from hometown blood for round 3 on wax, this time in the shape of up-and-coming producer Joker who has been making some serious waves the last year or so. Already, at the age of 18, he's well known in Bristol for his sound -- from his 'Kold Hearted' days and through DJ sets at the premiere dubstep night, Dubloaded. His productions are tightly engineered and smack of originality and quality -- like Neptunes meets melodic grime, with totally off-the-wall results. This
Kapsize EP
, dedicated to his recently departed cousin, DJ Kapsize, presents 4 top-draw rhythms that demonstrate the various angles of Joker's production skills. 'Stuck in the System' is an uplifting tune that will pull you out of any bad mood with its note-perfect orchestral composition -- think Low Deep on a particularly good day. 'Grimey Princess' sees a more electro sound come to life -- dubsteppin' crossover stuff with a characteristic Joker rhythm that just falls over itself -- entirely original. Flip then for 'The Bop,' with its power-charged anthemic sound -- a rare example of using guitar licks in dubstep/grime that actually works."

Title:
Kingfisher/Love Of Jah Light
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 004EP
"Earwax is very proud to announce this excellent release by RSD -- none other than Bristol's very own grand wizard of production -- Rob Smith of Smith & Mighty/More Rockers fame. If you don't already know -- get to know, a pioneer in dubbed out breakbeats from the late 1980s -- his knowledge on the buttons is rivaled by few and has guided him to a status of underground heroism. 'Kingfisher' sets the pace with its on point half-step riddim, driven by a slithering bassline that moves like a hypnotized snake rising from a basket, entranced by its own melody. Delayed vocal cuts and reverb'ed guitar chunks layer up as the tune progresses and builds. This track will sit well in a variety of sets, fitting with any dub-wise, sub-wise selector -- across the board. Flip then for the majestic 'Love of Jah Light' with its warm, involving melody -- just in time for summer, it's a lazy anti-anthem that draws you in for a soothing, introspective ride. Support from: Pinch, Distance, Cyrus, Appleblim, Joker, Peverelist and many more."

Title:
Bones/Steppa Delights
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 005EP
"It's grim up north, eh lad? No matter though, as Manchester's MRK1 pulls out another quality release for us Earwax southerners. 'Bones' is a big-boy banger of a tune -- drop heavy, run for cover bassline business -- no messing about, just draw it back and run again. You can hear hints of Coki and Skream in this one, but there's no mistaking MRK1's tight production ethic and his characteristic sound palette. It might not win many prizes for innovation but there is no doubt that 'Bones' will set off the dancefloor every time. Currently getting plays from Pinch, Skream, Distance, Cyrus and many others. 'Steppa Delights' is a cheeky lil' 4/4 dub number that perfectly crosses into dubstep sets, being at 140bpm. Laid back on every front other than the bass weight, this rhythm is an excellent exercise in gut wrenching sub power and soothing melody -- one for the late night skankers. Being played by old school dub heads such as Dubkasm and new school dubsteppers such as Skull Disco's Appleblim, Pinch, Skream, Distance, Cyrus, Joker, Peverelist, and many more."

JACK SPARROW
Title:
For Me/Lights Off
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
EAR 008EP
"Jack Sparrow has established his name with some big hitting releases these last couple of years -- including, not least, the recent dancefloor smasher 'I and I' for MRK1's Contagious imprint. Stepping up now for the next installment on Earwax, Jack Sparrow shows off a more refined, smoother flavor with 'For Me' ('scuse the coffee-ad style metaphors!), punchy beats touching on quality house and dubwise influences as if flexing Kromestar-esque rhythmical powers over a Martyn-style soundscape . Flip then for a rumtotting anthem sound of the devastating 'Lights Off,' with its infectious druggy synth lines and groggy bass line -- the demented vocal sample eventually commanding 'Turn the lights off.' Big tunes for the big boys to play -- buy this now or be fully prepared to walk the plank! Support from: Mary-Anne Hobbs, Pinch, Plastician, RSD, MRK1, Appleblim and many more."

"Very limited supply. DJ Pinch's Earwax recordings always reps the heaviest in dubstep and related. MRK 1 brings his Manchester grime step with a futuristic techno twist. Bad!"

LION DUB FEAT. JAH DAN & SOTTO BLESS
Title:
Heartbroken (Noah D Remix)
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 010EP
"Earwax steps to the USA for this monster plate from New York City roots/dub veteran Liondub, who collaborates here with Jamaican rising stars Jah Dan and Sotto Bless. Fellow stateside producer Noah D takes the dubstep refix duties with a floor smashing b-line. The result is an outstanding roots/dubstep crossover that is -- for once -- totally original. 'Heartbroken' sees Jah Dan & Sotto Bless take up the mic and, bouncing between each other, lay down a vocal that is measured equally between deep and energizing. With a laid back delivery they catch a flow that rolls perfectly over Liondub's wicked instrumental that sounds like a dubstep flavoured take on Berlin veterans Rhythm & Sound ocean deep dub style. Noah D takes the original and charges the already excellent vocals with a more dancefloor friendly re-fix. The swooping bassline that hits when the chorus drops will turn your insides out -- cutting through the full sub frequency range to guarantee it will hit the right spot in any dance, any room with a system in. Drop heavy and stand proud -- this is a huge version. Support from: Pinch, Plastician, N-type, RSD, MRK1, Appleblim and many more."

The Blues/Issues
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 011EP
"Earwax steps a little deeper for their next outing on vinyl with 2 killer tracks from new names on the dubstep scene -- production duo Skinnz & I.D. 'The Blues' is a deep and tribal affair laden with warm muffled pads and gut wrenching soundsystem subs. The heavily swung conga workout that forms a backbone to the rhythm is both hypnotic and energizing and quickly conjures images of a late night tribal gathering around a voodoo bonfire! As the track works into a breakdown it resurfaces, touched with a gentle melodic layer akin to Mala circa 2005. Quality dance music for your mind and feet! Flip for 'Issues' as the duo show in one release the breadth of their skills with this soulful roller. Combining a driving 2step beat with playful congas, a diving bassline and muted housey stabs -- this rhythm swings from dark smokey corners into skanking, grooving party vibes."

Title:
Chicken Foot/Shifty
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 012EP
"It's been a while now since Cluekid released his debut single here on Earwax -- 'Halogen' and 'Down & Dirty' (2006). We are very pleased to have him back on wax, demonstrating his progressions as he's mastered his art. The lead track 'Chicken Foot' is a one for the clever stepper who likes his wobble to be little more deadly and refined in delivery. It's a banger alright but one with plenty of restraint and fine style. Opening pads chime a deadly warning before the wonky bassline thumps in, heavily grooved and heavily weighted. Sporadic conga riffs cut through on point, adding to the momentum generated by the no-compromise bassline. Hold out for the 2nd drop as it twists a new way round! Flip then for the equally deadly but more stripped down 'Shifty'. Perhaps not the most appropriate title ever conceived but a fine piece of heavy artillery nonetheless. Taking a 2005 Loefah sound (and supported by him for this very reason) and redefining it in a Cluekid style. Excellent quality rhythm and bass music with a dark and unforgiving edge."

Title:
Wetwipe Riddim/Oreo
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 013EP
"2009 saw the world taken by storm as the Bristol born sound of Purple w0w! infiltrated sound systems and radio stations with its catchy synth lines and bold approach. Focus so far has mainly been on Joker, who ripped up the rule book and laughed hard at it, but a number of the big floor filler productions that helped make his name, such as the anthem 'Purple City', were co-produced by the more mysterious Ginz. Exclusively for Earwax, Ginz unleashes a plate of bouncing, messed up wonky-synth-hopdubstep- purple-whizzle with help on the buttons this time from the even more mysterious Kool Money Kwame. 'Wetwipe Riddim' is a Hennessy-hugging monster of a beat, showcasing Ginz's superb production ethic and musical mastery -- it's both demented and catchy in equal measures! 'Oreo' sees further experiments in bendy beats that leaving you on constant catch up, complete with ankle flapping bass and more psychedelic synth work. Support from: Pinch, Joker, Mary Anne-Hobbs, Plastician, N-Type, MRK1, Cotti and many more."

Title:
Maroon Chant/Last 3 Digits
Label:
EARWAX (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
EAR 014EP
"BIG BIG BIG BIG ! ! ! ! Earwax is very proud to present this huge 12" from 'Purple Trinity' producer Gemmy, guaranteed to cause serious sonic pressure on a dancefloor near you! 'Maroon Chant' is possibly one of Gemmy's biggest tunes yet, a carefully crafted dancefloor monster brim with catchy purple melodic synths and heavy weight bass. The intro leads in with a looped tribal chant as the pattern is sucked into rolling snapping percussion before the squelching, ever-evolving bassline drops. The track builds and flows effortlessly maintaining high energy levels throughout. Big tune. Flip then for 'Last 3 Digits' -- the title being a reference to pirate radio shows where the host refers to callers by the last 3 digits of their phone number. 'Let me have 1 caller for the rewind'. Heavy hitting rave stabs punch out the catchy melody here before the track switches up into a grimey beat and even grimier bassline. Quality rave music. DJ Support From: Joker, Roska, Pinch, Mary Anne Hobbs, Guido, Ginz, Reso, Baobinga, Appleblim, Peverelist, RSD, Plastician Dusk & Blackdown, and many more."
