This is Copenhagen-based producer Mikkel Meldgaard's (aka Mikkel Metal) third full-length release, and second for Echochord. Mikkel started his music career more than 10 years ago as a guitarist in various noise-rock bands. In the mid-'90s his focus changed to electronic music, inspiration coming primarily from breakbeat music, particularly drum'n'bass. It's during this period that gave Mikkel his nickname "Metal," due to his fondness for hard, metallic drum'n'bass cuts. Around 1999, Mikkel changed focus towards genres like click'n'cuts, IDM, techno and dub, and started releasing under the Mikkel Metal moniker. He has primarily released on Danish label Echochord and German label Kompakt: the former with a dubby, grainy sound, the latter focusing on a more melodic and 4/4-based sound. These ten brand new tracks range from 4-to-the-floor deep minimal tracks to dubby abstract ambient. Once again, Mikkel excels at bringing a modern twist to electronic dub and techno that ranks him in the same league of such luminaries as Deadbeat, Vladislav Delay, Pole and Maurizio.

The Echocord label is proud to announce the debut full-length by Germany's Quantec aka Sven Schienhammer. When he was 15, he bought his first pair of synthesizers (a Roland MC 505 and an MC 303) and some effects modules. At first (1995-1998), he started off making ambient and pieces in the spirit of early dub techno, in the footsteps of artists like Porter Ricks and labels like Mille Plateaux, as well as more experimental realms. As his knowledge expanded, so, too, did his collection of equipment, and he was able to finally bring forth the music he always wanted to make. His greatest love is ambient, dub techno, deep house and experimental, as well as original dub and roots reggae. Music is all about emotion and it is from these genres that, for him, emotion flows. "Behind the name Lowfour is Sweden's Andreas Tilliander. In the past he's released several albums as Andreas Tilliander, Mokira, Rechord and Komp. He produces everything from minimal and introvert soundscapes, ambient and music that is often compared to R&B and Hiphop. The Force Inc sister-label Force Lab released a 12" by Lowfour in the summer of 2001. Since then Andreas has been focusing on other aliases and materials but now it's time for a new Lowfour release. The material was mostly recorded in 2001 but re-recorded and remixed in 2002 to fit the Echocord style. This is dark and ambient techno with lots of elements from dub music."

This is the second album by the much-hyped German dub youngster Sven Schienhammer aka Quantec on Echocord. After releasing several 12"s on labels like Styrax Leaves, Meanwhile, Snapshot and Echocord, Sven is back with another full-length album. This album contains older tracks from the year 2001 and some of his newer works from 2009. On this album, you will hear many of Sven's personal favorites. Cauldron Subsidence is not entirely the typical Quantec sound -- and it's absolutely different than his last album on Echocord. This is brooding dub-techno, laced with the remnants of dubstep. "Absolute Level" combines a rolling crash cymbal with a trippy Detroit-ish melody (a la Kenny Larkin). The classic strings throughout "Satisfied" ripple with a rolling broken beat and strains of vocals throughout, shedding new light on the classic Chain Reaction sound of yesterday. Slo-mo dubstep crooner "Transmitters" glides and floats through the broken beat and smoky haze of dub infiltration. A true accomplishment from one of today's most accomplished electronic dub producers out there.

Echocord proudly releases the fifth full length album by Greece's Fluxion. There's been more than a decade of music since the first 1998 Chain Reaction release by the artist, along with countless artists such as Maurizio and Basic Channel setting the groundwork for what is currently called "dub techno" -- music that crawls under your skin, with no firecrackers or stunts. Fluxion has been as true to his principles as other artists from that era. On Perfused, as the title implies, the sounds are liquid. Bending, turning, blending, streaming, forming, and at the end, grooving in a unique way. Moving into the future with steady dub beats. Proposing to the listener not only to listen to new ways of producing music and sound, but also to open up their ways of listening. The opening "Horizons" creates a warm, slow dub feeling and as it moves through time and space, it creates musical phrases that unveil a breadth of fresh sounds. "Waves" is a pulsating, dub, atmospheric dance track. "Tantalizer" is a dried-out track -- mechanical, organic, while "Inflection" is a cyclic, minimal dub track. "Wabbler" is a live track recorded in one take -- a journey back to the influences of dub. "Elation" is a strong dance track full of energy that slowly builds up in the Fluxion way, always revealing some new stream of sound that comes to the surface. "Fluctuations" is a slow-building, atmospheric minimal track, while on "Inductance," atmospheric sound patterns slowly combine, creating an emotional, futuristic track. Finally, "Perfuse" is a pulsating, slow dub track. The sound patterns emerge steadily, to form one stream. One organic movement, where every part complements the other.

"Mikkel Metal is back on Echocord with two tracks called 'Sprang' and 'Dubhal'. Both tracks have been released in the year 2000 on the German label Hal9000. Now Mikkel has done new versions of the tracks with vocoders and synths. 'Sprang' is a more unusual track by Mikkel with electro beats and vocoders, perfect for the dancefloor, while 'Dubhal' is a more traditional dubby Mikkel Metal track. Ars Deco's real name is Rafal Sygowski born 1977 in Poland. This is his first release on Echocord with the track 'Indiglio'. Its a dubby techno-track, which will please the dancefloors. DJ Daniel is also a new artist on Echocord. Daniel lives in Copenhagen and has been one of the leading producers and DJ's for years here in Copenhagen. Greek artist Fluxion's (Konstantinos Soublis) first 12" release on Echocord is an escalating reaction between sound and flowing particles -- a dance infusion of deep dub. "Inductance" has a strong dubby platform with shifting elements, leaving the listener wanting more. "Elation" is a more atmospheric track creating strong emotions in a subtle way -- a climax of sounds and harmonics that carries the listener to a higher emotional state. The rhythmic dub base alongside repetitive melodic parts completes the picture.

Mikkel Meldgaard aka Mikkel Metal explores new facets of his sound and takes a detour from his usual dub-techno trademark. While obviously still retaining a "Metal" signature, there's a raw, dirty Detroit sound here that is new to his production. "Further" is a slow, tough track with a heavy kick-drum and a simple theme that is reminiscent of early Metal productions. "No Starts Today" and "I Dream" both build on simple, dirty grooves with synth layers and distorted themes on top.

Arne Weinberg aka Onmutu Mechanicks presents his first 12" on Echocord. Being known for producing deep, melodic techno, Arne's alias Onmutu Mechanicks serves as a project for all things abstract and dub-influenced. The Lupus Moon EP combines dub techno and the deep, melodic techno that Arne is known for. The tracks "Lupus Moon" and "Aspiring To Aspire" are taken from his album Nocturne (ECHO 008CD). This is the second 12" from Resoe's debut album The Black Void Of Space (ECHO 009CD). "Nachhall" is an atmospheric track, but still aimed for the floor. The metallic chords and lush strings build up slowly through the track, which ends as a pure techno monster like the old school sound of Detroit. "Dubcuttin'" is Resoe's dubstep track, with a more techno kind of edge. Don Williams' remix is a Detroit-inspired track, with hard, stabby chords and filtered efx.
