"Kokeshi is the new label from Alley Cat, DJ/producer and co-director of ESP Agency with 12 years+ of music industry experience. 19-year-old discovery Lung from Cardiff has only been producing for a short time but has managed to make some of the most moving sounds this year. Having already featured on Mary Anne Hobbs' BBCs Radio 1 Experimental show, he's been slowly building a grassroots following through two local DJ residencies and online support (dubstepforum.com) and will undoubtedly reach a much bigger audience as his first release on Kokeshi takes flight. 'Afterlife' features layers of pads and effects with an eerie vocal and gut wrenching sub. Support on Radio 1, and various UK and international web and college radio stations. One for the floor, and one for the ipod. 'Time' offers a nod to old school d'n'b/jungle with its breaks and its piano riff, yet Lung still pulls off his signature emo-dub-tastic style with ease, making it sound new and fresh. Given the thumbs up by TRG and Vaccine."

"What: dubstep,140 bpm, glitchy, magical sub-laden music. After the success of Kokeshi's first full vinyl release with Lung's dreamy dubstep
Afterlife
single, Alley Cat is back pushing her Kokeshi project once again, this time on co-production duties. Joining up with Kiat from Singapore, this veteran has a well-cultivated back catalog including releases on Soul:r and Hospital. A. 'Purple Clouds' - Gives a nod to the old school electro that has influenced many of us in electronic music today. It offers a bit of a glitchier mood while lots of layers of pads and percussion add to the feel. AA. - Kiat goes solo for 'Missing Channel' and offers a super-fun-to-mix tune with an epic intro and a naughty little bassline, proving you can make a dubstep tune that rocks without the wobble. Both tunes showcase the signature sound featured on the Kokeshi ((pod)) kasts -- moody, dreamy and deep, but also danceable."
