In April of 2006 and on the occasion of their 20th record, the Berlin-based label Mo's Ferry Prod. released a special compilation. In answer to progressive digitalization of club music and the rash swan songs on the vinyl record, like "Vinyl is the way of the dinosaurs," the label owners turned the tables. Marcel Knopf -- by then A&R and label DJ for many years -- compiled his favorite net label tracks, which got pressed for the first time on a vinyl record properly named Bits To Phono. Among the tracks were artists like Franco Cinelli, Lump, Ryan Crosson, and Dapayk, who had been doing some releases for free on labels such as Textone, Unfoundsound, Archipel, and many more. Furthermore, Marcel Knopf mixed a CD with these and other tracks that were released on Mo's Ferry in the following years. This year marks another year of Mo's Ferry's love of vinyl, and nothing would fit better than a new vinyl edition -- a special bundle of the double album and a mix CD. "Mo's Ferry release #29 is part 2 of the remix series for Dapayk Solo's Impulsion Parasite album. The record begins with the winner of the 'Hollis' remix contest -- C.Drummond aka The Wolves Outside. The Canadian stood up to countless others and provides weird grooves and cut-up funk, that shows creativity at its best. Rrygular and Apnea act From Karaoke to Stardom impresses his distinctive seal on the unofficial Dapayk hymn 'Marek Stolpert.' He leaves the deepness of the original, but puts his remix on a level of more minimal detailedness without losing sight of the crowded dancefloor. Mobilee's Pan-Pot, also referred as 'The (Cooking) Pots' or 'The Three Funny Two,' bury the snippets of original track 'Hagen' in an abyssal bass arrangement and conjure a floorburner with maximum functionality. To complete the record there's Mathias Kaden's version of 'Warteballmusik.' With the help of his live-recorded bongo percussions, he adds a flair of an after-hour classic to the funky original."

"Hidenobu Ito is not really known in Europe, although he already has a list of releases to show, but on the other side of the world -- in Japan. Hidenobu grew up in Inagi City, a municipality of Tokyo. Since his childhood he has been interested in game and experimental music. So, he started working as a cartoonist to afford his own music equipment. In the 1990s, he began producing his first tracks, music compilation albums and soundtracks. Up to now, Hidenobu Ito released his music on labels such as Flyrec, Elegantdisc, NS-com, TripTrap, Sub Rosa, etc. The first contact to the Mo's Ferry crew was his track 'Lover' on the third series of the 10" label, Fenou. After that, one of his tracks had been included on the Mo's Ferry Prod. 25 last year. Now, there's his first solo release for the label called Wake. The title track definitely helps to find a proper genre for this EP (like minimal), but it already shows Hidenobu's vision to include no out-of-the-box samples, but experimental and organic snippets. 'Voicedelique' and even more 'Micro2' are better examples to show that. B1 is a remix by Krikor, the perfect matching artist for this EP. He made a piece that still contains the weirdness of the original but has a little more punch."

"Olene Kadar. Well, sounds like the occident. But that's the completely wrong track. Behind this moniker you'll find a young man by the real name of Henk van Zwol and he's from Holland, more precisely from Friesland. All but far away from the big city club socialization a wondrous but fascinating character grew up that just started to spread out. It would be a shame to just leave him to the machinery of the club music business today. But first of all, the most important thing, his music: Olene Kadar's A-side track 'Button' is most clearly described by one word: excess! Because that's the result when you are dancing on the floor smoothly and unagitated and then this insane, frantic modulation of sounds is erupting. Sure, there's a need for a proper loudness and an extended low end (a little more than usual) is helping a lot to intensify this moment. What DJs build up over a set of two to three hours, 'Button' offers the peak in barely eight minutes."

"Just the other day we skipped through Dapayk & Padberg's album previews again. And we were pretty surprised. It seems as both wanted to hide some great tracks for the next album. There's no other reason why we would have missed 'Distracted,' this fantastic up-front A-side-track. Perhaps we did not overlook this piece, but we were distracted by the concept of their Black Beauty album -- far away from this conventional minimal genre clich�. According to the EP title, the B-side reveals this record's real nature. N�ze, the two brilliant maniacs from France, remixed 'Island' (or 'swimming circles' as the lyrics imply). The original was one of the most melodic tunes on the album and with an amazing vocal part by Caro, it is a one-of-a-kind collaboration. But N�ze tops it all off. The beginning is super laid-back -- fingers flipping right above a groovy bass line. After a while, the vocal and additional piano-phrases move in, and with an amazing chorus, the track turns into a cineastic avant-garde opus. An alternation of melancholy and hope -- this track has everything to fascinate the people this summer. The second remix on the record is 'Khes,' which most people considered the club hit of the album. Now, Digitaline from Switzerland present a less vocally, more groove-oriented minimal version. While mostly playing around with the wooden percussion sounds, every now and then they throw in some bits and pieces, like tiny cut-up vocal snippets. But not randomly -- just in time and not too much. A must."

Denmark's Henk van Zwol aka Olene Kadar presents the masterful Paying Bill. "Sarg Wualb" takes the subject of "I-modulate-that-siren-until-everybody-gets-up-from-his-seat" to the next level. "Betrokken" proves that a track with extensive usage of edgy "frickelsound" elements doesn't have to end in a top-heavy electronica-piece, but can be directed to the floor as very straight-forward and impulsive techno. This is the second full-length release from Dapayk Solo on Mo's Ferry. Unlike its forerunner Impulsion Parasite (2006), the beats are less abstract, but topical and more breakbeat-like: you can't miss the straightness of these voluminous sounds. "Intro" features the cinematic shattering of a saw -- full of dark power. These powers continue on "Scratch The Surface," which should get the dancefloor pulsing, and "A Saw Attacks" is another sawtooth massacre mixed with breakbeats and minimalism. Dubstep and two samples also interweave on this track, so you don't have a single clue where electro starts and techno ends. New to Dapayk Solo productions are the tiny skits and small audio clips that separate and connect tracks, such as within "Better Stop Breathing," which leads over to "Vermo's House" and combines Dapayk's stumbling beats with a nasty sawing sound. "Road to Boesendorf" is a relaxing piano etude, before "Right Here With Me" starts. On "Berlin Amo," two-step beats and electro marry without trouble and gives hints as to where Berlin's musical journey might be going."Child Of The Night" is dark minimal and "How Low" evokes the depths of the bass matched with incisive, questioning vocals. The beatless snippet "Strings Attached" leads to the melancholic "Niro," which connects dubstep a la Burial and minimalism. "Skit" -- a clip with an acoustic guitar -- leads over to "A Wave That Leads You Home." This album is an emotional dancefloor joyride -- a detailed and exciting rollercoaster that is packed with Dapayk's trademark sounds and new influences you'll want to experience over and over again.

Olene Kadar is back on his homebase Mo's Ferry. The really massive kick makes "Deal" a true stomper, and will put a smile on every Detroit fan's face. "House" is eight and-a-half minutes of funky organ chords. "Sot:2" contains an equally virtuoso ass-shaker. Somewhere between the industrial aesthetics of the reverberated snare and the indefinable squawking sound, its elements combine into a multi-dimensional piece of "club therapy" full of extremes.

This is Mr. Statik's first 12" for Mo's Ferry. On "Come On People," you can tell immediately that breakbeat is one of Mr. Statik's roots. Short drum loop slices inconspicuously stacked with the driving hi-hat give this merrily jumping house track a special touch. A varied bass line and talk-box vocals take "Workin' It Like We Do" to a higher dimension. "Hittin' The Jack" (feat. Dave Vega) features jazzy drums, a piano and skillfully-used reverb for a trippy closing piece.

Mathias Kaden and Henrik Schwarz remix their favorite tracks from Dapayk's Decade One (2000-2010) album. Kaden's remix of "All Eyes On You" seems to be aware of the efficiency of his loop, giving it time to develop without leaving people waiting for the drop longer than necessary. Schwarz's remix of "Back To Me" enriches the track with his saxophone variation. In addition to the original instruments, he uses a weird needle-scratch kind of sound to play the solo passages.

During the last decade, Mo's Ferry has been a welcome refuge for [a]pendics.shuffle to stop by, now with his fourth release in the baggage. "I See The Morning Time" combines an oppressive calm with a pleasant, contaminated space-atmosphere. Jeremy P. Caulfield transforms the track with his "Dark Hole Sun" remix, adding his personal melody-element but reducing the overall density of sounds. "Strung Doll" is a complex, textured track with a darker sound design that will leave you screaming for more.

Stuttgart-representative of the minimalistic house and techno scene Vladimir Corbin and his ally Peddy collaborate on Mo's Ferry number 55. The icing on the cake is the label owner's appearance as remix producer! "Sinner City (feat. SackJo22)" is a very synthetic tech house track with a good deal of Detroit. "The Grid" comes with a driving, rambling stab. An abused TR909 makes this one really groove! Dapayk's remix gives it a dash of warm kick-drum and a handful of "hands-up."

Mo's Ferry presents a vinyl re-release of two classics from the label catalog. Dapayk & Padberg's "Island" is the special result of a collaboration with singer and producer, Caro, and came out in 2007 on their album Black Beauty. The prominent "Swimming Circles" remix by N�ze was originally released on the B-side of Black Beauty Rmxs Pt.2. In 2005, "Emergency" by Dapayk & Midnight was released in a limited edition of 1,000 copies, out-of-stock long ago and finally available again.
