"The long-awaited first CD from My Best Friend is mixed by DJ Triple R aka Riley Reinhold. Reinhold, one of the two driving forces of the label, blends his own releases (productions in collaboration with different artists such as Steve Barnes aka Cosmic Sandwich, Jorge Gebauhr and Emanuel Geller from Salz) with early, rough tracks on MBF and with smooth, cool, deep ones, of which some are still to be released. For instance the deepest track so far by Steve Barnes and Riley Reinhold 'Someday', a West coast inspired deep house track, will be released on a full- length vinyl album later this year. Furthermore 'Daybreak' by Cologne's young indie-rocker Dazo, who jams big fat bass lines and synthies in a new style for MBF will be released in August 2005. The CD also features tracks by the established Berlin duo M.A.N.D.Y., Break 3000 (one half of the Dirt Crew), Dublin's Donal Tierney aka Five Green Circle and Cologne's disco legend of the '80s LAX aka Robert Schulze with a Bobby Orlando-inspired track. The CD includes the hit 'Discotronic' written and produced by Adam Kroll and Break 3000 in the original smooth mix. It also includes 'Mondo Cane,' a New Order-inspired track by Riley Reinhold and Emanuel Geller that was not released on MBF. 'Mondo Cane' adds a unique melodic and emotional side to the CD. The mix CD is constantly rocking to the beat and creating nice waveforms, dynamics, ups and downs. It is always cool and in control of the journey."

The My Best Friend label presents a double CD featuring a mix each by Martin Eyerer and Oliver Klein. Eyerer and Klein introduced their works to MBF with their stunning debut EP, Kairo and the follow-up, Tiflis. Both artists have been successful in most genres of electronic dance music, but now their focus lies on minimal. Eyerer made himself a name through remixing bands such as Gus Gus, Delight and Cassius and through remixes for Ministry of Sound/UK. Parallel to this, he always produced for smaller independent labels such as Boxer, Multicolor and Underwater and established his own label, Session Deluxe and his new imprint, Kling Klong. His 72-minute mix is fueled by club dynamics and makes a great home-listening treat as well. He's included some of his all-time favorite tracks, combined with unreleased tracks from his favorite labels. Oliver Klein, based in Düsseldorf, has been a well-known and influential DJ and producer in the Rhein delta for quite a while. His own label, Mutekki, has had a strong impact on the tech-house scene in Europe, making the transition between progressive and minimal tech-house. Oliver is a true DJ who plays and celebrates his sets, twiddling the knobs, working with effects, and providing the mix with a special emotional flow. His mix combines tracks with heavy pumping bass lines and physical presence with minimal modern grooves. Combined in his mix are brand new releases such as G-Flame & Mr. Gee's "Give'n Take," to make it a full night of techno. This is the debut full-length release by Hamburg-based producers Christian de Jonquières and Frederic Moering-Sack aka Piemont. It's not only their five EPs on MBF and two huge hits which made Piemont decide to record an album, rather, it is their consistency throughout their remixes and releases on other labels as well. They refuse to compromise on style or quality, and the result is Strange World Beyond -- dedicated to the deep sea. The tracks "Carbonat" and "Black Smoker" catapulted Piemont onto many charts and DJ lists and established their unique and outstanding sound. They have been supported heavily in the past by Richie Hawtin, DJ Hell, Dubfire, John Digweed, Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Oliver Koletzki, Oliver Huntemann and more. The duo are not a product of the minimal techno of now, but have been with the scene for much longer, being influenced by advanced technology and sound design as well as the history of electronic music. The duo has a gift for modern sound design fused with a fantastic sense for funky beat programming and a good intuition for clubby moments, developed by their live appearances and gigs. For Piemont, a track is never finished. The doubt of never being able to live up to the ideal of "the perfect song" is a source of creativity for them, keeping them striving for more interesting arrangements and sounds. That Piemont's background is not solely a techno one but includes many influences they can draw on, can be witnessed by their sympathy for different musical styles on this album. "MBF welcomes one of the pioneers of the electronic dance from Germany. Robert Schulze was one of the leading DJs in the 80ies in Cologne, playing the famous clubs such as: Colombo, Ritz Club, Morocco, Coconut and Checker's in Düsseldorf. "The French artists Maud and Sebastian created Scratch Massive in 1999. Scratch Massive's first full album on Warner Brothers produced by Christian Vogel of Supercollider was released. "The crazy original of Cosmic Sandwich's 'Man In a Box' made it into the top 20 of 2005 in Groove magazine. Riley Reinhold, part owner of Traum & Trapez & MBF together with Jacqueline Klein, DJ, A & R head and the driving person behind many projects, has finally released a double 12" with tracks he produced with friends and artists on My Best Friend. Triple R aka Riley Reinhold has already released several EPs together with Steve Barnes aka Cosmic Sandwich. He has also produced with Emanuel Geller as well as Jorge Gebauhr from Argentina under the project name of Toro. This project found a lot of support by house DJs in Germany especially Atta from Playhouse. The five tracks on Friends Are Silence vary in nature and range from the deep house track "Someday," written & produced together with Steve Barnes, to the shuffle house rocker "Six Sick Torros," written and produced together with Jorge Gebauhr. The rhythm monster "Tengo Suerte Esta Noche" was also penned by the duo Gebauhr & Reinhold. The Italo disco flavored "Polyester" title was written in a jam session during a visit to Denis Karimani aka Remute in Cologne. And the dark, Konrad Black-style track "Beauty Needs No Wings" was recorded along with Emanuel Geller, founder of the dub house duo Salz and one of Riley's closest friends. Friends Are Silence comes together in a meeting of minds and beats.

The Dirt Crew are back after a long break. MBF was the label to kick off and originate this crew, and Silver takes us back to those beginnings. "Silver" develops a traditional Chicago house into disco, with James Flavour and Break 3000 throwing a little dirt into the mix -- hypnotic, deep and cool. This track was originally released by the French couple from Paris: Nicolas Sfintescu (aka DJ Freak) founder of Circus Company and Ezechiel Pailhés. "Kitchen" is remixed by Thomas Schaeben, owner of Firm Records. Thomas is actually one of the few guys left in Cologne who experiments with a lot of hardware and guitars in professional studios. He totally re-played the "Kitchen" theme and added some strong heavy delays and nice crazy beat programming. On the flipside, Skat from Paris produces supercrazy funk-house. In his shuffle version of "Kitchen" he manages to cut up sounds like a world champion. A superb rhythmic dance track!

The debut track by Daso, which was post-produced by Emanuel Geller and Riley Reinhold, was a small hit on My Best Friend. Now, one of Germany's hottest producers Oliver Koletzki has remixed it alongside the upcoming star Skat from the French label, Karat. Oliver has taken the track to newer grounds, picking up on a totally different beat and adding a more uptempo, electro feel to it. "Battle Twig" is the old English word for the insect "Ear Wig," which describes to a degree the nature of the title track. This is a heavy analog-sounding beast that creeps around the floor, playing hide and seek, with sometimes quite gentle sounds lurking here and there. It's very much in the style of Steve Barnes' track "Cosmic Sandwich." With the much more elegant, almost pop-fueled "Scatter Realm," the idea of two minds in one person appears again. "The Dutchman Peter Gijselers aka Break 3000 runs the label Dirt Crew and Players Paradise together with his friend James Flavour.
