"Man of the moment TRG knocks us out again with some refined dark garridge inflections on 'Soho Girls' and 'Generation', but possibly the most excitement is reserved for the remix from highly touted Breakage on 'Generation' -- highly recommended."

"You all know the drill by now with these bloody promo blurbs -- a short hagiography on the producer, a badly punctuated run down of the tracks on offer followed by a list of DJs who are supposedly 'supporting' them. The same old, same old shite you've been reading ever since you first spent your week's pocket money on some gash white label the crusty old dude with the dreads and the wonky teeth palmed off on you the first time you set foot in a record shop all those years ago. In fact, here at naked lunch HQ we pride ourselves on doing things differently, we believe this ethos shines through every aspect of our work, from the music we release to the sleeves we release it in. Don't like it? Then it's probably not for you in the first place. The future is naked."

"You haven't worked in weeks. You're unshaven and unkempt, your fridge is as bare as the dying light of a Sunday afternoon spent alone is bleak. Your rent is in arrears, and you dread the thought of more bills arriving through the door tomorrow. You spend more money on whiskey and weed than you spend on food, and have recently taken to shoplifting cheese from the supermarket. Barefoot, in your underwear still, you walk over to your record player, still faithfully spinning around and around and around since God knows what time this morning when the last people left. You reach for the record you walked into town to buy, pull it from its sleeve, still fresh despite a gathering storm of your greasy fingerprints clouding it like uncertainty clouds your future. For five and a half minutes you stand listening, eyes closed, and your troubles fall away. You flip the record over and, for a further five and a half minutes of pure joy, you hear that which few others ever will. THE FUTURE IS NAKED. DJ support from: Martyn, Scuba, 2562, TRG, Breakage, Brendon Moeller, Floating Points, Mary Anne Hobbs & Instra:mental."

Let's Talk/Vicodin
Label:
NAKED LUNCH (UK)
Format:
10"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
NL 005EP
"'Let's Talk' is a slow burning, ocean deep house tune that capitalizes on the warm punch of the constant kick drum. Driven on by echoed melody snatches, pulsing synthesizer stabs and a husk entombed voice that waxes lyrical about forthcoming plans, its unsettling mood is, somewhat surprisingly, its optimum strength. 'Vicodin' turns the tempo up to a more recognizable dubstep pace but manages to sound totally unique and overtly fresh thanks to its use of intricate percussion and beatless structure. It's a subliminal smash weaved around pounding sub-basses and Detroit-esque piano chords. Support from: Martyn, 2562, Scuba, Vex'd, Instra:mental, D-bridge, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, TRG, Headhunter, Nubian Minds, T++, Mary Ann Hobbs, Stingray313, DJ Flight, Mark Pritchard, Ramadanman, Surgeon and many, many more."

"Throughout a recording career spanning almost two decades, DJ Stingray aka. Sherard Ingram a.k.a. Urban Tribe has consistently avoided the mainstream to create a musical world of his own. Responsible for the early techno classic 'Covert Action' on Retroactive (reissued on Planet E), Ingram was joined by Carl Craig, Anthony Shakir and Kenny Dixon Jr. (Moodymann) for Urban Tribe's debut album
The Collapse Of Modern Culture
on Mo Wax and their latest project 'Program 1-12' released on Kenny Dixon Jr.'s label Mahogani Music and The
Loyal Opposition
releases on Planet E. Touring as Drexciya's official assault DJ, Stingray collaborated with James Stinson for the 'Other People Place ft. Mystic Tribe a.i.' project on Clone in 2002. His two albums (
Authorized Clinical Trials
and
Acceptable Side Effects
) and singles for Rephlex have remained true to their Drexciyan descent, not through imitation but through remorseless innovation in electro aesthetics."

Get In With You
Label:
NAKED LUNCH (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.50
Catalog #:
NL 008EP
"Next up is a 12" by Kevin McPhee, which features an LV remix of Kevin's 'Get In With You.' His drum work also shouts just as loud as his twisted use of vocal snippets and samples with the 'Bridges' being a great example of what we're attempting to shout about. Constructed from homespun and self recorded samples it traverses a drum pattern not a million miles away from the work of Mount Kimbie, but focuses a little harder on the punch of the kick drum, using those bitcrushed scratches and ticks around it to frame the resonance of the low frequencies."
