On-U Sound presents Lee Perry's interpretation of the Black Sabbath classic "Iron Man," complete with heavy boots of lead. With Adrian Sherwood at the controls, and additional input from renowned reggae producer Dennis Bovell, this full-on thumping dub-stepper finds Scratch positioning himself as the "iron man - lion man - lightning man - super man" who "don't drink no booze" while sub-basses throb and wobble the bolts from his joints and the beats hit harder than a rivet gun. The dub mix is by Pempi, who ups the full-of-dread quota with a heavy barrage of drums, stuttering synths and swelling bass, creating a version that has the potential to consume every motor vehicle in the southern hemisphere.

"This re-issue of the very first album released by On-U Sound marks a fitting start to the planned series of releases to celebrate the label's 30th Anniversary. 1981's eponymous debut by post-punk super group' The New Age Steppers provided a fertile breeding ground for the cross-pollination of punk experimentation and dub sensibilities, and mapped out the innovative and culturally exciting musical territory for which On-U Sound would become legendary. "When African Head Charge released their fourth album Off The Beaten Track in 1986, it was a newly remade ensemble. Lead by percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah, the band included live drums, melodica, keyboards and bass backed by samples and tape loops. In 1986, the sampler was a new toy; the use of it here is so fresh and progressive that the resulting album still sounds modern and innovative today.
