"Following the label's stunning debut EP, Tonny Lasar's heavily lauded
Toshiban
(heavily played and supported by heavyweight DJ Sven Väth, and Ellen Allien, amongst others), the young Berlin label Perplex Recordings presents
Daemmern
by Toby Dreher. Accompanying the original are two remixes by Martin Zadak and label owner Charles Widmore, providing a package of three diverse, powerful and danceable primetime-hymns. After standout releases for labels like Rotary Cocktail, and remix notoriety for stars like Depeche Mode, Toby Dreher has arrived at Perplex Recordings and delivers another hit for the label. The almost 9-minute epic 'Daemmern' scores with a straight-up yet intelligent and intricate arrangement. The twisted micro-processed vocal snippets and fat bassline arrest the dancefloor's attention - an irresistible hypnosis that leaves no escape. 'Daemmern' is a timeless piece of techno that stands alone, confidently avoiding fashionable clichés. It's deep, epic and genre-pushing. This sets the benchmark for the remixes, which treat the opus in their very own distinctive styles. Martin Zadak, known amongst else as artist on the White label, delivers the deepest interpretation. Using a highly polished house-groove, his remix works through repetition and intensity. Charles Widmore (a.k.a. Christian Witt) creates a tracky homage to the original, reminiscent of Motor City's deepest cuts. With its massive chords and epic breaks this mix is the most 'classic' re-work and a perfect rounding off for the package."

PPX 003EP
"After Perplex 001 and 002, which got picked up by people like Sven Väth, Andre Galuzzi, Karotte and Ellen Allien, it's time for the next release on the quickly-rising label. It's the deepest and most refined from Perplex Recordings so far.
Rhauder
is the name of the artist and although it's his first release, his love for music and sound has grown for a long time, which can easily be heard in the outstanding production and fat, timeless analog sound quality. 'Influenced' manages to be deep and rave-ish at the same time -- the synth-lead takes a long time to evolve and build the atmosphere before it culminates in a big central break. 'Luna City Express' deliver a stunning remix of 'getting a glimpse' in their trademark chord-tech-style and with equally brilliant sound quality. 'Getting A Glimpse" on B2 completes the package -- melancholic, atmospherical and highly original. All together, a stunning debut of a promising artist and an important step in the development of Perplex Recordings."

PPX 004EP
"The Berlin-based label Perplex Recordings announces the release of their so far darkest yet, most eccentric record. PPX 004EP by Mr. Statik, the epic remix by Siopis and the bonus mix by Charles Widmore and Ricardo Esposito make a strong statement as the most specific release of the label, due to its rich diversity and therefore completes the birth-year of the imprint immaculately. Mr. Statik's 'Interracial Amour' is a complex arrangement, an almost 10-minute-long after-hour-composition that leads the dancing crowd into a swinging insomnia. The compressed drum loops with their cutting hi-hats and whipping snares hold the tension from the very beginning up to the very end of the track. Last perpetuated on the label Get Physical, Siopis aka DJ Silversurfer reappears, garnishing the grinding bass with an ideal type of hypnotic sequence and a range of smaller sound-splitters that dazzle, due to his precise dose of synthetic sound. New dimensions of space are created, silent but persisting strings appear, and an almost trancey, extremely deep and obscure touch will not let go of you. Finally, Widmore and Esposito's bonus-mix does not in any sense loose the intensity of the original track. It is raw, rough and full of unbelievably analog echo-worlds, sweeping you off your feet. A bouncy, stomping track with a range of echoes in the background and minimal funk elements in exactly the right moments. Clever arrangements and a polished sound-design permeates the entire release. Support by: Ewan Pearson, Jesse Rose, M.A.N.D.Y., Jerome Sydenham, Laurent Garnier, Agaric, Markus Fix, Popnebo, Larson, Alex Tsiridris."
