Artist: ROGER, FRANCK
Title: Re-Scape
Label: PLANET E COMMUNICATIONS/GUILTY PLEASURES
Format: 12"
Price: $8.00
Catalog #: PE 65314EP
"Franck Roger has managed, in less than ten years, to create a distinctive musical signature that earned him ongoing praises and respect from the likes of Kerri Chandler, Louie Vega, Osunlade, etc. Although he may have earned attention with vocal classic productions (No More Believe, etc.) first, his work soon gave way to a sound that finds home in venues as varied as Berlins after hours club The Panorama Bar and Parisians cosy and intimate Djoon Club. An instinctive approach: With a studio as his best friend, Franck Roger fears nothing: 'Most of the time I use my studio as a sanctuary, a shelter from the city mayhem or life complications... I search for a beat and build the tracks from here.' This is what you would call the Beat approach to production. 'You never know where it's gonna take you,' he warns. 'Sometimes it doesn't go far at all, simply because it just doesn't have to.' Luckily for us, this ability to create severe club bangers comes with an insatiable need to rock the crowd. Making you dance, and getting a kick out of it: Music and dancing have always been intimately bonded for Franck Roger. The legendary Rex Club in Paris is home to Franck's successful Real Tone Records party 'The 5 Beats,' showing clubkids du jour how it should be done, alongside prestigious guest DJs he can also call friends. The more Franck Roger is playing club gigs, the more comfortable he stands in the great dynasty of DJs that matter."
