Working with his beloved razor blade (which he had to steal from his father's shaver) and a bit of glue, little Mark immediately started to edit all the tunes, his older brother religiously collected on recordings from legendary WBLS, New York. After turning the edit front and a certain member of a well-known R&B family upside down, the Birmingham chap now returns to Running Back for another EP of original productions. "New kid on the block Jacob Korn (Dresden, Germany y'all!) convinced sometime somewhere in Toronto with a hearty live set that took a route over hip hop, down tempo house and all kinds of funkiness until it peaked with the disco-house-craze 'I Like The Sun (But not on LEDs).' Much to the delight of a present Running Back A&R. Hands were shook and it took only 2 and a half years until the test pressing arrived. Supplemented with the slow burning 'Selene' that really gets you the second time around, prevents the typical mistakes current deep house likes to make (at least, we think so) and is the sun god's sister, the A-side is good to go. Flip the script to see Prins Thomas in a good temper, rolling out the red carpet with one of his tried and tested remixes. 'I Like The Sun' piles up to 13 minutes of true Diskomiks glory including drums that go on forever (bonus beats, y'all!) and some eye-cue-markers for those of you who are deaf already. Well, swell!"

"The Running Back sports team is glad to welcome two new players to its roster. Dplay and whiz kid Manuel Tur (see also his brilliant RIBN stuff) have caused a great stir with a bouquet of 12-inches for outfits -- like Zurich's beloved Drumpoet Community or the Compost Black Label -- as well as knocking out well-made remixes. For instance, their work on Kiloo's The Passion is just adorable. Here we have them melted into one organism called Dplay, while Mtur moves in silence (or in the production credits, if you please). Stretching out on the A-side, 'Huub Sand' is not only a tribute to two of Schalke 04's greatest gentlemen, but a prime-example of cavernous, stoic and infective house those two (no not the Schalke guys) had quite an impact on. Initially planned to come with a remix by the mighty Radio Slave (please look at cat-no. 012 to see what became of that), our coach could convince the duo to hand out two rather atypical, nonetheless bloodcurdling tunes instead: 'Tschaka' kicks some deep dub disco houz styles of the highest orders with riot-like effects on your mind, body & soul. Finally, 'Schroul�' is a claustrophobic corker, if we have ever seen one. Should be the perfect sound track for padded cells and a remake of Mel Brooks' Frankenstein. "Zaki Dee, Rob Mello and Luke Solomon present Heaven and Earth! We know, we know, the current re-issue wave of classic house music platters is a bit much - especially the unlawful ones with photocopied artwork. But that is already one reason to do it the proper way. The other one is the fine aural pleasures Luke and the likes delivered on this one back in 1995. Originally released on the seminal Prescription imprint through the channels of Chez Damier and Ron Trent, the British Heaven & Earth project is a rather special one. 2009 release, 2012 repress. Running Back presents: Strada Sound Effects. That's what you all have been waiting for: a record with nothing but sound tools. It pretty much does what it says: sirens, wind, water, ambience, and kids on LSD hysterically laughing. Isn't that great? Speaking of those laughing kids, that's what caught the label's attention during a warm and cozy Plastic People night with �me's Kristian. Blessed with an original copy of this record released via Kobe's honorable Strada Records store, an email attempt in purchasing a copy ended up in a re-issue agreement, as the initial run of approximately 300 copies was long lost and gone. On top of it, Kristian lost his in one of those nasty "airport baggage clerks DJ robbery" incidents. You can use it for intros, outros, mixes, tricks and the like. Plus: Danny "The Dancer" Wang explains in his scientific and lyrical liner notes why YOU have to acquire this record in a 180 gram heavy plate edition with nice artwork, as per usual. Limited, precious and strictly bound to wax.
