SCUBA 001EP
"Hotflush presents the first in a series of releases by Scuba, a producer making a big impression on the underground sound of dubstep. First played by Rinse FM stalwart, Forward>> resident and discoverer of Digital Mystikz, DJ Hatcha, these tracks have become some of the most talked about, and sought after, on Internet forums, dancefloors and pirate radio in recent months. Taking a much more minimal style than recent Hotflush releases, justifiably Scuba concentrates on awesome bass in a true dub-centric style. 'Timba' lays down a challenge to any soundsystem: can you cope with the bass? A twisting synth line and distorted stabs draw you into the drop, which resembles a sharp but righteous kick to the head. 'Sleepa' goes deeper, with a riff that slithers out of your speakers with soca-esque drums in hot pursuit, smashing into a floor-wrecking groove with bass."

Thank U

Format:

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SCUBA 002EP
"The second Scuba 12" has landed, carrying on the work laid down on the first. Scuba has become one of the hottest artists on the dubstep circuit, and now that many of the biggest MCs from the grime world are getting in on the act, these two tracks have been receiving constant reload calls at Forward and DMZ for the past few months. 'Thank U' continues where 'Timba,' from the first 12", left off. A massive sub-sledgehammer snare and a speaker-shattering halfstep break that seems to hark back the early days of hardcore. Innovative stuff from Scuba. Words develops the sub-bass theme, with an even more assaulting snare and a haunting synth line that ensures the classic dubstep depth."

SCUBA 003EP
"The latest installment on the Hotflush dubbed out sub-label, this one takes it even deeper than the previous two. Dubstep has made massive strides in the past six months and Scuba is one of the hottest properties in the scene right now. 'Harpoon' was recently rated by
XLR8R
Magazine as one of the top ten dubstep tunes... EVER!"

Wormsign
Label:
SCUBA (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SCUBA 004EP
"The latest release on the Scuba offshoot from Hotflush presents the very first 12" from a brand new producer, Gravious. Hailing from north of the border, he's bringing a fresh sound to the dubstep marketplace mixing electronic sounds with the reggae influence of more contemporary dubstep producers. 'Wormsign' defies accepted structural protocols and hits you in the chest with bass from the very first beat. Switching up rhythms and emphasis, adding echoed snares and searing hats, Gravious shows why he's attracted so much attention on this one. 'Monolith' takes it deeper, adding an eastern edge to huge bass and reggae-fied drum fills. Again, not following a typical structure it's more of a vibe piece, building up to a more rolling section with some amen-style cut-ups thrown in for good measure."

SHACKLETON
Title:
New Dawn/Massacre
Label:
SCUBA (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SCUBA 005EP
2006 release, repressed! "Shackleton has been carving his own niche in the dubstep scene with seminal releases on Mordant Music and his own Skull Disco imprint. With techno legend Ricardo Villalobos showing a strong interest in this mercurial talent, he's begun to emerge from the shadows recently. These are two typical Shackleton cuts, with impossibly heavy bass, intricate percussion and a pounding beat. He's always threatening to stop making dubstep, it's a good job he always changes his mind..."

SCUBA 006EP
"From across the pond comes the first female dubstep producer of note, and she's not messing about. These two unbelievable tunes only hint at what is to come from this incredibly exciting producer. 'Wishful Thinking' is a shimmering dreamscape to the metallic snarl of 'Signal to Noise.'"

Format:

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SCUBA 007EP
"Scuba returns to the Scuba label with a much-anticipated release on wax. 'Frisco' is the logical conclusion to recent guitar-infused Scuba productions. Reaching for the four-string this time, Scuba comes up with a big tongue-in-cheek snare roll, leading to a digital dubstep bouncer strangely reminiscent of The Police. On the flip, Brown gets serious for one of the deepest Scuba tracks yet -- electronic melodic minimalism."

SCUBA 008EP
"Glasgow's finest steps up with his second dedicated 12" on Scuba. Having stole the show on the mini-comp, 'Temple Ball,' Gravious continues on the deep vibe, adding jazzual elements to his sound on 'Fall' and taking the Temple Ball feel further on 'Winter Sun.'"

MARLOW

Butterfish (Marlow Remix)
Label:
SCUBA (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SCUBA 009EP
"Marlow's biggest production to date. The instantly recognizable choral intro of 'Machine' has been getting rewinds at FWD for the last 2 months. Monster drops, skanking basslines and orchestral production are Marlow's trademarks. With DJ support from Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1), N-Type, Caspa, Stinky Jim (NZ), MRK 1, Walsh, D-1, Reso, Geiom, and The Others."

SCUBA 010EP
"Debut release from Ottawa, Canada's DZ (previously known as General Bayswate, and Lurk of Lurk'n'Gully). Having been spinning records since the age of 16 & producing music for the last six years, DZ brings us two tunes that are heavy on the low end, with an assault of snares and bass wobbles sure to kill the dancefloor. Coming from a background of old skool hip hop & funk, trip hop & abstract, big beat, nu skool wave of breaks, and drum'n'bass, DZ adds his own flavor to the mix. This guy is one to watch out for."
