Artist: AZARI & III
Title: Azari & III
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 2LP
Price: $27.50
Catalog #: TURBO 031LP
"Torontonian quartet, Azari & III have announced their debut self-titled album on Turbo Recordings/Loose Lips Records/Modular. It follows the release of the single 'Hungry For The Power,' which erupted a storm of awe on the underground music scene and a collaborative track 'Stay Here' with Friendly Fires in 2010. The record is set to become the sound of a dystopian summer with their innately brooding beat and sordid-pop edge. Azari & III's unique blend of moody electronica, dark yet hooky vocal choruses and analog-thick rhythms has earned them a hardcore following and sees this album as one of the most-anticipated in the calendar. The four-piece, consisting of producer/musicians Dinamo Azari and Alixander III with vocalists Fritz Helder and Starving Yet Full, have crafted a defining sound that relishes in its references while maintaining a future perspective. From the velvety refrains of 'Reckless With Your Love' through to the creeping melancholy of 'Manhooker' and the unhinged technopera of 'Undecided', their album possesses an individual classic-future feel, with trademark lush synthesizations, biting soulful chorus's and ominous overtones." Housed in a gatefold sleeve.

Artist: BARFOD, TOMAS
Title: Basement Music
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 033EP
2006 release, repressed. "For most of my life, the only two Danes I knew were: GREAT Danes, those big dogs, and that big Danish goalkeeper. Then I started DJing all over and meeting lots of Danes. One of them was Tomas Barfod, a genius, who makes so much good music I have trouble keeping track. He's involved in Whomadewho, he is Tomboy, and he does more solo stuff as well. When I got a demo CD I freaked out and tried to sign all the tracks and this first 12inch on Turbo is the fruit of my labour (or I guess HIS labour).. 4 tracks of magic, groovy house music. Moody, building trance-house. Chopped up funk-disco."

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)
Title: Partys Over Earth
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 3x10" BOX
Price: $38.50
Catalog #: TURBO 033LP
3x10" box version. Tiga and Zombie Nation have joined forces to create the most potent dance record of the year. Apocalyptic tension. Panic-fueled fundowns. 2012 is approaching. Having both rocked remarkably long and prolific careers, the members of ZZT possess uncanny staying power in an industry where hype ends faster than it begins. Zombie Nation's production credentials are impeccable, and his reputation as a live performer has made him a permanent fixture on Europe's main stages. Meanwhile, Tiga's vocal hooks, sampling know-how, DJ sets and impressive work as a label boss have all kept him perched atop the electro-pyramid. These are two major players in the indie-dance world, but together, they are something else entirely. ZZT first established themselves as paradigm wreckas back in 2007 with Lower State Of Consciousness, upping the ante on how "crazy" a crazy club record needs to be. Dazed & Confused named it their "Electronica Single of the Year," while Rough Trade likened it to "hearing Da Funk for the first time... getting Justice to turn it inside out is a master stroke. Tune of the Year." Partys Over Earth is relentless, uncompromising combat funk. If the new ZZT were a drug, it would be DZZMT. Not the stuff some loser shaman huffs behind the village gas station, but a new-school cut of freebase free-bass that tears out your central nervous system and forces it to dance with the hottest elf you've ever seen.

Artist: PROXY
Title: Destroy EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 035EP

Artist: HULKKONEN, JORI
Title: Katajanukke EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 036EP
2007 release, repressed. "When you think of Finland, you think of Lordy, Nokia, Zyntherius, pale men with whiskers, Matti Nykänen coke-orgies and a stupid language.....but underneath that depressing grey façade lies a rich musical culture....a culture personified by the living legend of electronic composition Jori Hulkkonen."

Artist: DAHLBACK & DAHLBACK
Title: Sweden 10 - Finland 0
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 039EP
2007 release, repressed. "I don't have much to say about the Dahlbacks. Jesper is one of my best friends, even though he is a serious pain in the ass. John made 6 records in the time it took you to read this sentence....and he just turned 11. Every once in a while they take about 40minutes out of their hectic schedule (John stops making records...to make a record, while Jesper takes a break from the grueling demands of being a condo association manager) to make a record for Turbo. In all honesty i think they give me the tracks they forgot about.....cuz you know if they really LOVED them they would keep them for their own lame labels."

Artist: PROXY
Title: Decoy
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 042EP
2007 release. Russian producer Proxy earned respect and awe from such heavyweights as Justice, Soulwax, Boys Noize and Erol Alkan.

Artist: LES PETITS PILOUS/DILEMN
Title: Baguette EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 046EP
2007 release. "OK, how about this: every night when I feel my DJ set running out of steam, after I play my own hits... and just when I start to feel 'oh fuck... it's all over for me, I'm gonna have to go back to running a drum n' bass record shop'...THAT'S when I drop Les Petits Pilous and boom, all of a sudden it's back to 'wow, this is easy......look they are all screaming my name and begging to touch my hand, its pathetic........look that girl is getting trampled... maybe I should smile."

Artist: HULKKONEN, JORI
Title: Rave 2.0 EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 047EP
2007 release, repressed. "I just made the mistake of re-reading the last press sheet I wrote for the original Fenno Baron EP... man, was that good (the release sheet, not the record), so good in fact that for an instant I considered hanging up my pen and retiring from this crazy, glamorous world of indie-label literary administration. But then I thought... sure, they all know Jori's story, they all know our shared history, everyone knows he's a retarded genius who lives in Turku..... but do they know the history of THESE tracks? no..... YOU don't. Until now! Read on."

Artist: LEKEBUSCH, CARI
Title: Shaded EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 049EP
2008 release of remixes of Cari Lekebusch's 2004 single (featuring vocals by Krister Linder). Remixes by Compuphonic & Kolombo, Jesper Dahlback and Clouded Vision's "acid dub."

Artist: PROXY
Title: Dance In Dark EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 053EP
Minimal techno from Russian producer Proxy. The track on the B-side is longer than its title suggests.

Artist: MR JAMES BARTH
Title: Workin' The Truth
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 055EP
"So deep you'll need scuba gear. In Jori's words: 'In 1995 me and my friend Ari of Lumi records realized it maybe was actually a waste time to try to run a dance label with no experience from the north of Finland. Indeed. Instead, it might be a smart idea just to focus on making music and find a label that was already established and have them put the music out. Swedish radio had a show at the time called 'Tema: Dans,' and they would have some guest DJs coming over and doing their thing. Usually more traditional housey stuff, but one Wednesday evening Calle had a guest that blew my mind: Cari Lekebusch. Playing what could've been jacking Chicago traxx, but somehow it was all different -- and as it turned out it was mostly done by what the world would become to know as the Stockholm techno gods; Cari, Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlbäck, Alexi Delano, Joel Mull, Jean-Louis Huhta, et al -- and all their aliases. Impressed by all this I sent Cari a letter (yes, a handwritten one) with a demo-cassette of some of my tracks telling him how I had heard all this music on the radio and since his name (Cari, not Lekebusch) implied a Finnish connection he might be interested in expanding his empire eastbound. A week later I received a letter from Cari simply stating 'You're definitely not faking the funk' and a phonecall followed a few days later and a friendship was established. My friends Ari Ruokamo and Tuomas Salmela also sent tracks to Cari and he was quite excited about this northern Finnish sound and even started a new label called Trainspotter's Nightmare to release our stuff on. Of all the music Cari himself has done my favorite is maybe the Mr Barth stuff. Slightly less abstract than some of his other more experimental techno, but easily as uncompromising, and on some levels more open minded with a certain cross-over potential."

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)
Title: The Worm
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 058EP
2008 single, featuring an extended rework from Erol Alkan.

Artist: DAHLBACK, JESPER
Title: Cables & Things
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 060EP
"Apparently there's another Jesper Dahlbäck record coming out on Turbo as they asked for a onesheet. Not sure which tracks are on it so I can't really talk about the record. So why do I feel I can write a onesheet about it? Because there are very few producers I can trust as I trust Jesper. Ever since the good old techno days of the genre-defining deephouse sound of Svek records in the late 90s to only last month when I asked Jesper if he had any tracks to give me to try out only to receive 27 new slamming unreleased tunes, I've always had a selection to spin (remember the etymology of the verb, regarding those round discs) a Jesper production to a connoisseur crowd that may otherwise be hard to win on my side. I could go on and write about our classic back-to-back DJ sets we've done ever since the mid 90s all the way from northern Finland to the classic Turbo parties in Miami WMC, or our studio sessions combining kebabs (or recently falafels) and acid, or the ambitious Acid Symphony Orchestra where I'm the conductor and Jesper is the 'principal first violin.' But I won't. Google it up! And get every JD record you can!" --Jori Hulkkonen

Artist: KOLOMBO
Title: Sniff EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 061EP
"Kolombo puts out a lot of records. Some of them I love, most of them are too housey and boring for me. His stuff always sounds great, but teeters dangerously on that line of commercial club music... reminding me of overly groomed men and cologne blowing in the smoke machine. That sounds bad, but it's the truth, the same as it's true that these two tracks are total standouts and have been effective weapons lately for the few Turbo VIP's that have them. 'Sniff' takes his, THE sound of '08 (Popof, anyone?) to the next level by punctuating each white-noise breakdown with a giant sample of a human sniff! Genius... and perhaps the first true blow anthem ever in techno. This should be number one on Beatport. 'Pique Nique' may have an annoying name and start off a bit boring, but the breakdown is a game changer, modulating from chirpy fairy wiggle-house down to a sub bass groove that achieves the requisite hands-in-the-air factor without making anyone feel they need to play Crookers for the rest of the night (note: we love Crookers... Ciao, ragazzi!!) That's it and that's all... two great tracks, no lame remixes... enjoy!"

Artist: GUY J
Title: Shaman
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 062EP
"When Guy J's 'Skin' hit #2 on Beatport, it was a defining moment. Beatporters had spoken loud and clear, deafening the shrill cries of infant bloggers. The Isreality EP was a hit for Turbo, and we were amazed to see a lush, proggy track outsell most of our heavily hyped 'bangers'. After that success, Guy's manager sent me a bunch of new tracks, many of which ended up on the critically acclaimed Esperanza LP. 'Shaman' was my favorite of the bunch. We could have just released it, but next-level A&R is about more than choosing tracks. It's about choosing eras, and we needed to finish nu-rave before we could begin the tropic-o-bongo house revolution of 2009. Credit the Turbo administrative vacuum for sitting on a track this good for so long, until great remixes are done, and the world is ready. Tiga and I have both played it towards the end of some very special sets in the last year. It has a nice type of 'soft' impact. It somehow manages to add energy to the crowd without being louder than the track before it. To the tired ears of veteran DJs, that's a rare pleasure. There are also some great remixes in this pack. A subtle, punchy rework by Mohan Das; an extremely playable, deep, dubby mix from the venerable Cari Lekebusch." -- Thomas Von Party

Artist: ZOO BRAZIL & ADAM SKY
Title: Circle Jerk
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 063EP
"I know very little about Adam Sky or Zoo Brazil. I have no idea how they came together to make this track. I know that Tiga had a picture of Adam Sky up on his wall when he was a kid, that he wanted to BE him, and that Adam put his first record out 30 years ago, which dethrones Sven Väth and makes him the longest-active, still relevant producer as far as I know. Zoo Brazil actually made a track for Kylie. He's also a big fan of my puppet work (see Tiga's 'Hot in Herre') and he wanted me to make a music video for him but I couldn't make mini-puppet-faces in time -- oh well. The track was given to Tiga while he was working with Jesper at Globe studios in Stockholm. Zoo Brazil's studio was next door and he would peep in and they'd all eat lunch and discuss remixology. He gave Tiga the demo in November 2007, so at 17 months, this is officially the slowest ever Turbo release, beating out last month's Guy J by a full 4 months. The truth is my enthusiasm for the track hasn't waned one bit, a testament to the raw power of a strong System 100 groove. It's been a secret weapon that I've played all year. I'm happy to report that this track also gets the rare support of rising megastar Proxy. For a techno record, that's quite an achievement." -- Thomas Von Party

Artist: HUGG & PEPP
Title: Maximus EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 064EP
"The new Hugg N Pepp, another top secret bomb that I managed to steal while in Stockholm. The biggest record EVER to use the word 'Penguini.' The last time I ever try and write a one-sheet for the Dahlbacks. The horror. The horror. The. The. The."

Artist: ZOMBIE NATION
Title: Zombielicious Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 065EP
"Zombielicious is one of the best dance albums of the DECADE. When I first heard it I badly wanted to license it for Turbo and we almost did. Zombie was even into the idea, but the timing was bad, so we decided to put together a Turbo-riffic remix pack instead. Bad idea compared to getting every incredible moment of that album... but luckily the result is amazing. First of all, I love and respect Mr. Zombie, but mixed in with all that admiration is actually a touch of fear. Flo is so dope on every level... everything he's done, the videos for 'Kernkraft' and 'Worth It,' the vinyl packaging of his LP, his press shots, stickers... it's all awesome... and he does it all himself with his friend Wolfram in the über-city of Munich. It's all spot-on. Flo is intense. I've never seen him make a mistake, though I have seen him get shit-faced and play Beyoncé... but that just proves he's got huge balls and loves divas. Basically I reeeally didn't want to disappoint him, but the trouble is that trying to get great remixes is like fishing for music... you never know if you're going to get a giant tuna or a little sardine. Luckily, we took the analogy to heart and busted out THE CAVIAR!!! That's right... the world's favorite Russian is back with another total devastator. He kept the best of 'Shottieville' intact, adding only the hint of military-industrial might it needed to achieve complete dance-floor annihilation. Proxy is a poet for the ages, and this is probably the last remix you'll hear from him until his album drops in the fall. Next up are Arveene & Misk, hot off their remix for Mr. Oizo and the production of Yo! Majesty, these Irish 'lads' are ones to watch and this remix of 'Worth It' is a big winner. Milano is back with another dose of deep underground techno, a worthy follow-up to his excellent remix on Turbo 063. Shadow Dancer, hot off his debut album release, turns in a smooth-yet-chunky acid groove. Last but not least, Hey Today! (!) pull off a massive heavily-ZZT-influenced banger with their remix of 'Radio Controlled.' 5 great remixes that prove a whole lot of love for Zombie-man. Hope you enjoy!" -- TVP

Artist: PHONOGENIC
Title: Bass Were The Days
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 066EP
"Two excellent tracks of bassy, ballsy, bigroom tech-house. A deal was made via video-sauna and all-of-a-sudden Turbo 066 be done... Enjoy!"

Artist: FLUGEL, ROMAN
Title: Stricher EP
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 067EP
"We love and admire Roman Flügel's solo work, as well as everything he's done with Alter Ego and his amazing Klang imprint, so it's an honor to release these tracks on Turbo. Premium electronics and classy arpeggios -- this is bleep disco from a true master. In Tiga's words: 'This also marks the dawn of a new era in release-sheet writing; one marked by unimaginative prose and lackluster command of language. Enjoy.'"

Artist: HUGG & PEPP
Title: Sweet Rosie
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 068EP
"'Sweet Rosie' is one of the most original sounding vocal house tracks in ages. Tiga championed the first version we were sent, but he'd always mix out before the goofy guitar part, so Turbo commissioned a special edit that keeps its cool all the way to the finish line... that's why it's called the 'Turbo edit.' The Dahlbäcks threw in a terrific disco dub, one thing led to another, and we figured we ought to go the distance and do a full remix package. Veteran superproducer and perennial chart topper Sir Jori Hulkkonen does a Joriffic job, the dub being, incredibly, his 200th ever remix -- another milestone for J-Z. Also on remix duty AND also at work on an album for Turbo is Glasgow's young prodigy Sei A. Continuing on a brilliant run starting with his album 'Editing Shadows', this is an absolutely incredible deep dub, keeps things interesting for all you vocal hating bitches."

Artist: NOOB & BRODINSKI
Title: Peanuts Club
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 069EP
"Two of Turbo's rising stars come together to make one of the biggest records of the year. 'Peanuts Club' has been arguably the hottest track of the summer for heavyweight DJs Erol Alkan, Tiga, and A-Trak. It's instantly catchy and massively effective, and we've seen it bring the best out of the crowd night after night, but you probably already know all about it. The real coup here is that 'Cajou Club' is another absolute bomb, maybe even better than 'Peanuts Club,' and more disturbing evidence that France has produced yet another two major-league players in dance music. Noob's really been hitting his stride lately, following on terrific remixes for Brodinski and D.I.M. and Tai's Lyposuct, his productions getting exponentially bigger with each release. As for Brodi, anyone that's seen him play knows he has all the makings of a star, and if he can keep putting out records this good, the sky's the limit! Wanting to go beyond double-megahit and attempt quad-bomb status, we commissioned a terrific remix from Sound Pellegrino's Renaissance Man. Noob & Brodi are in love with it, plus they're the only Finns out there to have NOT produced a record for Turbo, so it was a perfect fit. The 'Ph 0' remix on the vinyl is, incredibly, an original take on acid, it's loopy and weird, but works like magic."

Artist: TIGA
Title: Beep Beep Beep Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 070EP
"Beep Beep Beep. Remix Remix Remix! On the A-side, the Loco Dice Dub is a perfect set-builder, one of his best remixes to date. Purist Loco fans might also be happy to hear that Tiga's vocal has been 99% extracted from this version, leaving behind only the echo of disco-pop in a solid, DJ-friendly groove. Kaine's mix keeps things closer to the original, emphasizing the pop punch-lines with staccato beeps and a chunky beat. Positive vibes here from a bright young UK producer. Finally, space-disco maestros Emperor Machine turn in another epic roller complete with a brilliant analog synth jam finale. Great job! Ciao!"

Artist: FEVER RAY
Title: Triangle Walks/Seven
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 072EP
"Turbo is happy to offer up, exclusively on vinyl, Tiga and Seth Troxler's remixes of Fever Ray. Tiga's '1-2-3-4 Remix' of 'Triangle Walks' is, in his words, 'maybe my best remix ever.' It's got a hip hop inflected beat, an Altern8-style rave-airhorn breakdown, and of course the amazing vocals of Karin. Huge reactions on the floor. A 9 on the 'hands-in-the-air' index. Seth Troxler is amazing, incredible producer, DJ, and perhaps most crucially: personality. The sex-addict extraordinaire confesses this track was expressly designed 'to make girls wet.' It's a more melodic thing than he normally goes for, and though it's full of pretty arpeggios, the whole thing has a very unconventional feel, an end-of-the-night fucked up quality that comes, in part, from the off-beat use of the vocal. It's one that has to be heard out to properly appreciate it, but it's a real standout. Both these tracks achieve the rare feat of being 100% effective played LAST in a set. So that's it. Rabid release it all digitally, but only Turbo have the balls to still press the best onto soul-wax for 800 of you to enjoy."

Artist: ELSEL, BODO
Title: Mein Haus
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 073EP
"Bodo Elsel has only done a handful of records and the two that I've known and loved since 1998 were put out on Playhouse, the excellent housey sister-label of mighty Klang Elektronik. One track in particular, 'Discount Baby,' has always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the sacred art of groove (you may have heard of it). Punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops; it's dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious German Lego-master, who the A&R team of Mike Mind and Thomas St Shindig managed to coax back into activity. It only took Bodo a year to answer Mr. Mind's email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks... 'Haustier' revitalizes piano house. 'Mai' is incredible, and 'Mein Haus' is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of Germany, putting it in the fine company of the Autobahn, Sven Väth and Christmas-Market Schwein. NICE WIBES!! The icing on the cake was that Bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap... he just wanted 42 copies of the record. Yes. 42. We were so inspired by all of this that we decided to put this record out in a different way for us that just feels right this time.... If you want to find out just how good the Mein Haus EP is, you'll have no choice but to buy a copy of the 12" because this one is a VINYL EXCLUSIVE!"

Artist: MIKE MIND
Title: Resonate 1/2
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 074A-EP
"Mike Mind's only previous release, Acid Machine, has been Tiga's most played record since it was made. A full-time Turbo employee, he's spent the past few years getting his brain around making techno, and continues to impress us with his output. His debut EP, Resonate, is something of a departure for our label, and one we're very proud of. Kebacid is the production alias for Turbo all-stars Jesper Dahlbäck and Jori Hulkkonen. Their previous releases on Jesper's defunct Blank Ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. This is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard Turbo fans happy." On white vinyl.

Artist: MIKE MIND
Title: Resonate 2/2
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 074B-EP
"It's amazing to have this kind of music coming directly out of Turbo HQ; it nails a sound that we've always tried to cultivate. Minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, and with just enough analog imperfection and warmth to it. Both of the remixers we chose represent different sounds in techno that have influenced Mike's sound. 1: Sophisticated Italian Groove: Giorgio Gigli is an Italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier. He's rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, Donato Dozzy. Hopefully we'll have more of his tracks on Turbo soon. 2: M¦n¦m¦l: Hobo is a fellow Canadian best known for his excellent work on Minus. Rumor has it, he borrowed Richie's quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent."

Artist: COMPUTER JUICE (RITON & SEIJI)
Title: Computer Juice
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 075EP
"Computer Juice / UK Div. new bombs from Riton and Seiji. Remix by Tai and D.I.M. Big beat re-imagined as listenable music."

Artist: TIGA
Title: Sex O'Clock Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 076EP
"Tiga will release a series of remix 12"s for 'Sex O'Clock,' 'Overtime,' 'Gentle Giant' and 'Love Don't Dance Here Anymore,' songs from his 2009 album Ciao! The ambitious project features some of the most respected and sought-after producers in dance music." "For these remixes, I looked to Titans. Standing on the roof of my greenhouse, I called out, 'Hey you, get off of that impossible cloud and into my car. We're gonna drive all night 'til we hit Remix City!'" "I asked them, 'When can you have the remixes ready by?' They said, 'About a month from now.' I said, 'Time. That's precisely what the song is about. Use that.'" Tiga could not be more excited about these vinyl releases, and wants nothing more than fans to share in his enthusiasm. "If you purchase all four, I will write your name and credit card information in a special leather-bound book. Also one copy will include a silver ticket, which you can trade in for a golden ticket. Which does nothing."

Artist: HULKKONEN, JORI
Title: Man From Earth Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 079EP
"Jori Hulkkonen's superb 2009 album Man From Earth offered nothing if not a glimpse of pure inspiration, like having a candid dinner conversation with the inventor of the cloth napkin. Now, Turbo is proud to present this stellar remix pack, which offers amazing new perspectives on tracks from the LP, revisiting the music with an athlete's eye and ears bursting with heart. Jesper Dahlback's mix of 'My Brother Went To Space And All I Got Was This Lousy Vacuum' evinces all the wild-guy energy of going to a rock concert with Elvis Stojko. Sei A's version of 'Re: Last Year' is akin to getting an e-mail from the ocean with a link to undersea HTML treasure. It all makes for a fitting tribute to a true modern master. You'll realize its full significance when you hear it on the dancefloor and you look over and see us looking back, just noddin' and grinnin'. It's going to be great."

Artist: TIGA
Title: Overtime Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 080EP
"Tiga continues his series of remix 12"s for songs from his 2009 album Ciao! The ambitious project features some of the most respected and sought after producers in dance music. 'For these remixes, I looked to Titans. Standing on the roof of my greenhouse, I called out, 'Hey you, get off of that impossible cloud and into my car. We're gonna drive all night 'til we hit Remix City!'' Overtime Remixes by Adam Beyer and Jesper Dahlback and Motor City Drum Ensemble. 'These producers represent four sides of the commemorative dance coin. To me, variety is that spicy element that seasons the living of our very lives.' Tiga could not be more excited about these vinyl releases, and wants nothing more than fans to share in his enthusiasm. 'If you purchase all four, I will write your name and credit card information in a special leather-bound book. Also, one copy will include a silver ticket, which you can trade in for a golden ticket. Which does nothing. I'm a dreamer. I see the world through groove-colored glasses, ever watching the horizon for the whole world to come dancing into my arms.'"

Artist: TIGA
Title: Gentle Giant Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 084EP
"This release is the latest in a series of remix 12-inches from Tiga's 2009 album Ciao!, featuring some of the most respected and sought-after producers in dance music taking on the most respected and sought-after icon in dance music. 'Gentle Giant (featuring James Murphy and Jake Shears)' remixes by Martyn, Efdemin and Mathew Jonson. 'When a song means a lot to you personally, having it remixed is a lot like sending your child to undergo plastic surgery,' says Tiga. 'In this case, though, it was like having the operation performed by doctors you respect as musicians. This is most likely my favorite track off Ciao!, and the response I've gotten from fans seems to suggest I'm not alone. They come up to me and say, 'Tiga, that was an amazing game of racquetball, but the real reason I'm here is to tell you how much 'Gentle Giant' means to me.' And it's not uncommon for my sports goggles to fill up with salty blue Gatorade tears, mainly because I thought we had been playing squash. Some may claim that the remixes on this release are too diverse, that they strain the acceptable boundaries of what's eclectic and what's too hectic to sex with. And to that I say, "You can't shame the Rebel, dog. You can't even try.'"

Artist: AZARI & III
Title: Indigo
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 085EP
"Turbo Recordings is proud to present its latest signing, Azari & III. Azari & III's first two singles were championed by an impressive cross-section of DJs and artists like Erol Alkan, Hercules & Love Affair, Michael Mayer and Friendly Fires. This broad-spectrum appeal led to Juno Plus featuring them on their 'Ones to Watch in 2010' list, while 'Hungry for the Power' ranked on Resident Advisor's 'Top 50 Tracks of 2009' poll. They've been courted by Trax to become the flag-bearers of a late 80s Chicago revival, made arguably the best 90s dance pop hit of the 2000s with 'Reckless (For Your Love)', attracted the attention of Pitchfork and the indie kids, and yet they've only released two EPs. What they've got in the pipeline is going to blow people away. Their first outing on Turbo showcases a more stripped-down club sound, the pop vocals subdued to lush moans, the tones darker and deeper than what you've heard from them before, but every bit as catchy and effective on the dancefloor. The dub is an extended version with 10% more funk, 5% more 'jack', and 1% more jazz (our imposed limit)." On blue vinyl.

Title: Conspiracy Pt. I
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 099EP
"We have no hesitation in declaring that he has single-handedly updated an entire genre, sharpened the edges, and notably traded in the camp and pastiche that made Electroclash a dirty word for a refined and stylish simplicity. The breakdowns are massive and very French, but never out of order. These are futuristic party bombs which skillfully draw from our favorite dance music of the last 30 years...and add more cowbell!"

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)
Title: Zzafrika Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 3x12" BOX
Price: $52.00
Catalog #: TURBO 100LP
"The list of artists who have appeared on Turbo Recordings is staggering by any measure. For an indie dance label to survive 13 years and over 100 releases is a remarkable feat, but for a singles-driven label, the magic has often revolved around the institution of the remix. Turbo A&R have done an extraordinary job of bringing in talent, poaching the most exciting artists of the moment. It makes sense then, for its 100th release, that they would craft a package that highlights this prowess. For anyone who heard it out, ZZafrika was unquestionably one of the biggest records of the year. The renegade dove-child of Tiga and Zombie Nation, ZZT has built up a cult following by virtue of its off-the-rails, wildly eccentric party tracks. They don't do interviews. They don't do remixes. They don't do filler. As the duo puts the finishing touches on their outrageously great debut album, Turbo has decided to settle some unfinished business and follow up the one-sided pro-etched vinyl 12" with a full-blown release, one that would do the track justice and bring it to the wider audience it deserves. For the mega triple-pack vinyl we have six cuts: Gesaffelstein, Julio Bashmore, Light Year & The Finger Prince, Plein Soleil, Crowdpleaser, Tomas Andersson. Download card includes: Turbo Century (70 of Turbo's best tracks) + the digital version of the Turbo100 remix package."

Jamie's mix is a full-blown, driving party anthem, while Azari's fellow Torontonians elevate the pop flavors with a more laid-back approach. Guy Gerber delivers a feverish, saturated late-night mix."

Artist: RENAISSANCE MAN
Title: What Do You Do When You Do What You Do
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 111EP
For Renaissance Man's first single off their Turbo debut LP (TURBO 032CD), they have assembled a team of remixers who live up to the playful intelligence of the original. The result is a MENSA-level dissection of contemporary dance music. Legendary producer Herbert offers up a subtle, atmospheric take, adding his own vocals and introducing an esoteric pop sensibility. Scottish producer Sei A checks in with a hypnotic techno groove bomb. UK vet Paul Woolford strikes a balance between wobble acid and melodic piano hooks.

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)
Title: Partys Over Los Angeles
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 112EP
ZZT continue their reign of underground club domination with their most overt anthem yet. "Partys Over Los Angeles," taken from their Partys Over Earth album (TURBO 033CD/LP) is the dancefloor herald of the End Times, brought to life by Tiga and Zombie Nation. The duo has harnessed the essence of the peak-time monster and unleashed it on the new-jack masses. Duke Dumont's remix is a stripped-down snakecharmer while Jon Convex serves up a version that reflects the vanguard of new-school UK bass-influenced techno.

Artist: SEI A
Title: Frozen Flower
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 113EP
Sei A's latest release finds the Scottish producer fully immersed in the forward-thinking UK electronic scene, splitting the difference between the worlds of underground techno and legit songwriting. The title-track balances emotive synths and sculpted vocal samples that flow languidly over a skittish beat. "Starjar" starts in a similarly tranquil vein before expanding into an ominous cosmic synthstorm. Midland toughens up the beats and pushes the track squarely toward the dance floor, while Youandewan creates a vertiginous downbeat ambience.

Artist: MILANO
Title: The Fall (Untold Remix)
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 114EP
Milano's "The Fall" is a killer dose of deep acid, in the tradition of some of the label's finest releases (Jesper Dahlback, Jori Hulkonnen, Mike Mind). The track is dark, huge and claustrophobic, like plummeting endlessly through a starry void in an uncomfortably form-fitting spacesuit. Untold remixes and we have no idea how to categorize his version, other than to stress that it's dope. There's also a "Synthapella" version, which is the perfect tool for imagining a World Without Percussion.

Artist: SEI A
Title: Flux (Martyn Mix)
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TURBO 115EP
This EP from Sei A snaps things back onto a futuristic grid of bass-driven club madness. "Break The Pattern" is a techno zap-fest featuring a killer hook, precision, laser-cut drums and a rough, rolling groove. "Flux" blends retro video game sounds with vocal samples, laid out against a psychedelic cha-cha rhythm. This one received early support from Martyn who weighs in with a strong remix, driving the 8-bit riff into a frenzy, backed by iron-clad beats bouncing atop a megaton sub. Guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)

Turbo Recordings presents a second pack of killer remixes of ZZT's "Work," off the Tiga/Zombie Nation supergroup's Partys Over Earth (TURBO 033CD/LP) -- featuring The Advent & Spiriakos, Norman Nodge and Gingy & Bordello. It fills us with a profound, seething rage to think that anyone doesn't worship The Advent. Here he teams with Spiriakos to convert any stragglers. Meanwhile, real-life lawyer Norman Nodge uses his autogenic training to create a track that's elegant and hypnotic. Gingy & Bordello showcase another step in their evolution.

Artist: GESAFFELSTEIN
Title: Conspiracy Remixes
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"

Gesaffelstein presents his first Turbo remix package. Dave Clarke as Unsubscribe summons the demons of an evil warehouse exorcism on his remix of "Aufstand." Brodinski pushes "Viol" into straight-up party-zone material, adding vocal samples, festival breakdowns and a BPM upgrade. Milano's remix of "Opr" is a raw chunk of heavyweight 909-driven techno. The Hacker delivers space-probing techno that climaxes in oxygen-deprived bass madness on his remix of "Conspiracy Origins."

Artist: DUMONT, DUKE
Title: For Club Play Only Part 1
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: TURBO 124EP
This is the first in a series of For Club Play Only EPs, designed to harness Duke Dumont's versatile stylistic mastery and let it explode in the faces of party people everywhere. "Street Walker" takes the intensity of paying for sex and spills it all over the dancefloor with a distorted vocal hook and alien warehouse vibes. Meanwhile, "Thunder Clap" answers the question, "What is the sound of one man jacking?" Also included is an Alternative Mix of "Street Walker," because it's great.

Artist: HULKKONEN, JORI
Title: Man From Earth
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: TURBO 028CD
Originally released in 2009. Jori Hulkkonen loves his vintage synths -- indeed he's a conductor of the world's first Acid Symphony Orchestra, comprised of 11 mad/brilliant Scandinavians armed with dinner suits and Roland TB-303s. It therefore comes as little surprise that Man From Earth, the Finnish producer's tenth studio album, has its fair share of acid house stylings. It's at once moody and melodic, with Hulkkonen deftly using his machines to produce ethereal beats one minute and storming dancefloor fodder the next. Some of these tracks have been lurking in the recesses of Jori's collection of nearly 20 years, some are more recent productions. And despite -- or because -- of this, the album maintains an incredibly cohesive, mature feel. The slow-burning growl in "Dancerous" is one of the album's highlights, as are Jerry Valuri's vocals on "I Am Dead" and "Man From Earth." Elsewhere, Turbo boss Tiga chips in with a vocal cameo on "Undercover" under his alias as The Dove. From this unsung Finnish virtuoso with nearly two decades of electronic production experience comes a gorgeous, dark, exhilarating tenth artist LP, replete with masterfully-nuanced, soulful sounds coaxed from soulless vintage analog synths, thundering 808 beats and gripping vocal accompaniments. Man From Earth opens with a low-cut synth rambling anxiously over a filtered-out rhythm section. Striving towards resolution, the low melody finds harmony as the backbeat emerges. "I Am Dead" is a haunting slow-banger driven by the tension in Jerry Valuri's positively morose vocals. The interaction that these emotions create -- that of the aggressive overcoming the melancholic -- is one that plays out throughout much of the album. Thus, the more aggressive tracks, like "Dancerous," give way to the more ecstatic tracks, such as "The Other Side Of Time."

Artist: SEI A
Title: White Rainbow
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: TURBO 029CD
Originally released in 2010. Sei A aka Andy Graham is one of the most promising producers from the new Glasgow scene. His debut album Editing Shadows (2008) earned him the respect and support of a wide range as his sound is influenced by dubstep, deep house as well as techno, filled with rich textures, moody atmospheres, subtle psychedelia and haunting vocals. Add to that an instinctual gift for melody and the romantic character of his vocal flourishes, and one gets a clearer picture of why Sei A is attracting such admiration as a producer, performer and remixer. Having been commissioned by Booka Shade, Jori Hulkkonen and Tiga, among others, Sei A has also remixed such artists as Terence Fixmer and Azari & III. White Rainbow is front-loaded with a pair of harder-edged tracks but opens up to reveal an impressive range of music -- from the two-step UK bass-fest of "Who Dares Wins," the shimmering lead of "Out Of Reason," the Aphex-like pads in "Star Of Stealth," through the beautiful ambient interludes to the Burial-like dubstep finale of "Meth II," this is a record that rewards repeat listening.

Artist: CROWDPLEASER
Title: Crowdpleaser
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $14.50
Catalog #: TURBO 030CD
Originally released in 2011. Crowdpleaser presents his first-ever solo album of deep and easygoing Swiss sounds. After successful outings on Mental Groove, Viking Music, Drumpoet Community and Wagon Repair, this 10-tracker of blissful underground house lands on the ever-expanding Turbo Recordings. The album presents a broad spectrum of ideas, some of it might even be called "world music," featuring international vibes and vocal contributions from Wamian Kaid, the psychedelic guru Terence McKenna and Mr. Schönborn himself. These are expertly-crafted grooves, subtle and hypnotic tracks that sound as great in the club as they do at home, the light mood and warm atmosphere a perfect match. One of Turbo Recordings' freshest signings, this tongue-in-cheek and overtly party-influenced DJ and producer crafts funky, slightly tough, underground but accessible beats and structure -- living up to his name by creating easygoing dance music that will surely leave the crowds on the floor -- and the lounge lizard at home.

Artist: RENAISSANCE MAN
Title: Renaissance Man Project
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TURBO 032CD
This duo of Finnish architects launched their career in 2008 with Spraycan on Switch's Dubsided. They soon found eager champions in the tastemakers at Kitsuné, Sound Pellegrino, and the blogtelligensia over at Fluokids. By 2010, they were legitimate players, having remixed WhoMadeWho, Delphic, Crystal Fighters, Brodinski, Crookers, Health, and, most recently, Azari & III. A more refined, structural sound emerged on the Babbadabba EP on Made to Play. And the larger scope of their commitment to intelligent design comes to fruition on Turbo Recordings, erecting a post-tropical hermitage of dancing man's thought-funk. The music is highly detail-oriented, referencing everything from bass music to curry house, with eyes and ears trained on millennia of art and concept, with a special emphasis on the millennia when music actually existed. The first track and single, "...When You Do What You Do" is a who's-what-you-who of blazing critical house. Renaissance Man. Designing the box. Building the box. Thinking on top of the box. Features Tuomas Toivonen (Acid Kings, Giant Robot), Helsinki Bass Machine and K-X-P.

Artist: ZZT (ZOMBIE NATION & TIGA)
Title: Partys Over Earth
Label: TURBO RECORDINGS (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TURBO 033CD
