"Continuing our relationship with the master film composer Sven Libaek, we here at Votary are very pleased to announce our acquisition of the entire Libaek back catalogue. First off the ranks we offer an LP reissue of the brilliant 1974 library album
Solar Flares
. Fresh from recording the legendary
Inner Space
, Libaek then embarked on this amazing album for the Peer International Library.
Solar Flares
is best described as the polar vision of
Inner Space
; instead of the underwater sounds of the deep Libaek's cues were now influenced by the far reaches of 'Outer Space.' Expect Libaek's trademark jazz-exotica sound complete with the cosmic tones of homemade synth! Featuring the usual gang of Australia's finest studio and jazz musicians. Only 500 LPs have been pressed."

"Votary Records is proud to present the first-ever full reissue of the Australian soundtrack masterpiece,
Inner Space
, composed by Sven Libaek. Originally released in 1973 as the score to Ron and Val Taylor's underwater aquatic odyssey, this important soundtrack not only stands as a paramount representation of the genre, but also as an example of the fertile music languishing in an antithetic Australia. Considered one of the unsung heroes of Australian Film music, Sven Libaek composed for many Australian films and TV series, most notably in the 1960s and '70s.
Inner Space
is considered amongst his finest. Conceptually sketching life under the sea,
Inner Space
is a brilliant example of incidental film scoring as it is strong jazz impressionism. Gentle yet propulsive Brazilian rhythms are mirrored with watery Moog and fluttering flutes, understated with forbidding horn phrases from the depths. Featuring the best of Australian jazz musicians such as Don Burrows, John Sangster, George Golla and Errol Buddle, they masterfully range from the incidental to the improvisational as they create a whirlpool of sublime aquatic jazz exotica. Notably, in 2004, the soundtrack had a second lease on life when several tracks were used in the Wes Anderson film
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
. CD jewel case with 8-page booklet plus new notes and photos. Please note that this is the first full 16-track reissue, and not to be confused with the Trunk records compilation of the same name which features a similar cover."

"Votary Records is very proud to announce the reissue of this 1967 Australian modern jazz masterpiece. Considered to be one of Australia's most important modern sessions,
Eastern Horizons
is an album of extraordinary force. A pioneering exploration of Eastern-influenced free jazz that stands as one of the earliest prototypes of the genre. Notably, this session from Sydney predates other more widely-acknowledged Eastern-influenced albums as well as other 'Indo jazz' recordings of the late '60s and early '70s. Following in the footsteps of early '60s Coltrane and the work of Ornette Coleman, The Charlie Munro Quartet were undoubtedly one of the most important groups to emerge from the Australian scene. Formed from the ashes of the Bryce Rohde Quartet, saxophonist and cellist Charlie Munro and drummer/percussionist Mark Bowden continued to explore the Lydian Mode with their new Quartet. Enlisting young players Neville Whitehead on bass (future Neil Ardley and Ian Carr) and top Sydney session trombonist Bob McIvor (Sven Libaek), they together delved deep into free form jazz exploration. Until now, this revolutionary session has been known only to a small group of loyal jazz aficionados and high-end record collectors, as the virtues of this quartet have yet to be documented. We are excited to offer this reissue as an important insight into Australian jazz from the 1960s."
