Artist: COLLAGE
Title: Ten Minutes Twenty Seven Seconds EP
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: 10"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: CRWR 004EP
Wool Recordings presents a very limited and silk-screened 10" vinyl release of 4 songs, including one previously-unreleased track, by '70s Estonian jazz ensemble Collage. "Halb Sirp" and "Vastlalaul" sum up the jazzy pop side of the band with very sweet vocals between traditional Estonian folk and Michel Legrand aspirations. On the second side "Neiud Lähevad Ära" and "Suur Tamm" deal more with the funky and break-y side of the band, which is what makes this band sound really unique for their time-period.

Artist: FRANKLIN
Title: Every Now And Then
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: WR 008CD
Franklin is the new side project by Franck Rabbeyrolles, who's also the guy behind French minimal/pop electronic project, Double U. After 4 albums for various labels (Sonar Kollektiv, Karat, Nocturne), Frank decided to make a break and create a new identity. What you'll hear is pure love for psychedelicism, weird '60s sounds, and old school electro. Franklin is a type of mutant pop, a very special combination of vintage future analog synths and drum machines, some echo guitars without treacle-y nostalgia, toy pianos, dub effects and sweet vocals mixed with a modern and surreal hybrid pop -- a project not so far from artists like Broadcast, Beach House, or The Notwist. After releasing a successful limited 12", Wool Recordings proudly presents the debut album by Franklin: these 13 songs explore new directions in the construction of modern pop music, with '90s indie-rock influences crossing bleeps against mellow West Coast '60s vibes.

Artist: COLLAGE
Title: Forty Seven Minutes Four Seconds
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: WR 011CD
The Estonian ensemble Collage was founded in 1966 by Rivo Dikson and included students from The Tallinn Conservatory and The Tallinn School Of Music and Pedagogical Institute. Anne Erm, one of the band's original voices, named the band Collage as its repertoire included a broad range of music: jazzed-up pop songs, arrangements of classical instrumental music, scores for small formations, large jazz orchestras and original works by Estonian composers. Soon the Repertoire was further expanded to include Estonian folk music, thanks to a request from Estonian Television which commissioned five folk songs as part of an ethnographic program. These songs were also included in the ensemble's first LP: Collage, released in 1970 by Melodiya. Estonian traditional folk songs (known as runo-songs) had not received widespread use in pop music. It seemed that such use had potential. From then on, folk music achieved a significant position in the band's repertoire. Contact with the work of Swedish pianist and composer Jan Johansson (1931-1968) at The Tallinn Jazz Festival in 1966 and 1967, as well as the work of Estonian composer Veljo Tormis influenced the band to an active involvement with folk music. Collage's use of runo-songs has, in turn, influenced the activities of other ensembles throughout the years within the Estonian musical landscape and abroad. Forty Seven Minutes Four Seconds is a collection of original recordings taken from Melodiya Records, and also directly from Estonian radio studios. A wonderful lost jewel of Estonian jazz from the '70s -- modern hybrid jazzy pop that lies somewhere between Carlos Jobim, Michel Legrand, Stereolab, etc. Includes one unreleased song. Band members: Aarne Vahuri, Lea Gabral, Alo Poldmae, Anne Erm, Maire Eliste, Kersti Johannson, Enn Tomson, Katrin Magi, Ivar Johannson, Ole Valgma, and Tauno Vahter.

Artist: RUSSELL, LUTHER
Title: Motorbike EP
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: WR 012EP
Luther Russell has been putting out records since 1991, first as lead singer/songwriter of The Freewheelers, then as a solo artist, and later as a respected producer. This EP features selections from his album The Invisible Audience, a sprawling collection of beautiful songs which melt the sensibilities of Bob Dylan, Big Star and Elliott Smith and serve as something of a crash-course through the history of American songwriting. This EP is a collaboration between Wool and Luther's own label Ungawa. On white vinyl.

Artist: FRANKLIN
Title: I Know
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: 7"
Price: $8.50
Catalog #: WR 017EP
Limited silkscreened 7" for fans of Atlas Sound, Lali Puna, Neon Indian, Twin Shadow, etc. Franklin is Franck Rabeyrolles' (Double U) side project. Where Double U's music seems more intimate, folky and melancholic, Franklin sounds more like mutant pop. Includes a remix by Com Truise.

Artist: SADIER, LAETITIA
Title: La Piscine
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: 12"
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: WR 018EP
Limited and silkscreened 12" featuring unreleased songs from Richard Swift, Rebecca Gates, Superbravo and Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab). Wool loves Laetitia Sadier's music and wanted to do a special release all around her. For this special occasion, they asked her to curate something really personal. She decided to invite some of her closest friends to take part in the project, with a water-related song as the only suggestion. La Piscine is not a compilation but rather a collaborative project of friends and talented artists.

Artist: FRANKLIN
Title: Artificial Light
Label: WOOL (FRANCE)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: WR 019CD
Franklin is the side project of Franck Rabbeyrolles, who's also the guy behind Double U, a French minimal electronic pop project. After an acclaimed EP featuring an '80s retro futuristic remix from Com Truise, recently signed on Ghostly International, Franklin returns with a second album, Artificial Light. His mutant synth pop is a typical combination of vintage analog sounds, drums machine, floating interludes and texturized guitar waves. Previous Franklin album Every Now And Then (WR 008CD) took you on a cinematic road-movie trip; Artificial Light invites you to a pictural game of reflecting lights for a unique rhythmical experience. Call it dream-pop, lo-fi, experimental, bedroom production, whatever -- Franklin has followed his sonic explorations and developed his own individual voice.
