2009 repress. Stunning reissue of this obscure Brazilian album from 1970. "Really wild, psychotic, exotic, progressive psychedelic beast from Brasil -- all those attributes in an extreme way! Long freaked-out tracks driven by furious organ and massive fuzz -- wahwah guitar assaults, also added distorted vocals (Portuguese lyrics) that creep deep inside your cranium -- one of the best ever! Comes in usual World In Sound quality with original amazing triple fold out cover that is beyond belief."

Artist: GOLDENROD
Title:
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: RFR 011LP
"First official reissue of this legendary Westcoast acid psych masterpiece. It was recorded 1969 in Hollywood and originally released on Chartmaker. Goldenrod is not just the backing band of Darius -- it is Ben Benay, Jerry Scheff and Toxey French who all were involved into several major projects, playing with Elvis Presley, 5th Dimension, supporting The Doors, Ventures to name a few. On this album they let it freewheelin running -- just caring about their own passion with a magical sound in 4 long cuts: Descent of the cyclopeans/ Karmic Dream Sequence/ The Gator Society/ Standing Ovaluation -- those satisfy by its intense and emotional sound with ultimate guitarwork by Ben Benay. Contains band story + photos."

"First reissue from Australia on WIS, The Yeah Captain album was recorded in 1969 and it was the first album of its type produced in Australia, a milestone. Music ranges between heavy psychedelic rock and poetic acid folk, both in an outstanding level. Trevor sang and played all instruments, creating a perfect full band sound, that really blows. An original album, is near impossible to find. Also included 2 bonus tracks by Trevors 45 record, that was also recorded on Nationwide Recordings Adelaide. A piece by one man with various talents -- an absolute must."

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $38.00
Catalog #: RFR 014LP
"First official release of legendary 1979 private recorded space rock album of Marcus and his band. This top memorabilia album has intense, passionate and poetic songwriting, sometimes desperate, sometimes mystical but always deep in instrumentation and interpretation. It comes up with the sixties acid folk blend -- with electrified heavy guitars and various space effects a la Hawkwind. Contains a very informative bio, couple of photos, 2 bonustracks and extra CD-R with a 20 minute live performance video (great quality -- extra 7 bonustracks) playable on computer and your audiosystem. An All time classic -- not just for psychedelic collectors!"

Artist: JONES FAMILY BAND
Title: ... an electrified Joint Effort?
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: RFR 015LP
"Unreleased stoned and eastern sounding psychedelic/garage Folk by Joint Effort from Detroit (a different session was already released on CD by WIS), amazing passionate songs in the early Stooges, Country Joe and the Fish veins, acoustic with many improvisational and homemade effects! 1973 the Band Leader and Singer Val Zukowski founded the short living electrified 'Jones Family Band' playing heavy psych blues and garage music with incredible wah-wah guitar leads, going into Hendrix -- those cuts also remind sometimes to the Fraction and Bentwind feeling. One of the best and freaked out releases of US Seventies Psychedelic Garagy Underground."

Artist: BEN-ISRAEL, DANNY
Title: Bullshit 3.1/4
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $40.00
Catalog #: RFR 016LP
"By 1969 Danny Ben Israel recorded a Psychedelic masterpiece of an album Bullshit 3.1/4. This revolutionary ground breaking album is largely unknown, however the few people who know this GEM consider it to be one of the greatest Psych albums of all times and original vinyl copies of this album change hands for hundreds of dollars. The uniqueness of this album lies not only in its music -- also the weird and obscure pornographic fold-out cover artwork and the sometimes very trippy lyrics deal with the Israeli society and its hypocrisy, the fake emptiness of the Bohemian way of life, drugs, escapism and freaks. The most obvious theme reflected in his lyrics is the wish for freedom of all kinds (freedom of thought, freedom of expression and so on). The music itself mixes psych and avant-garde, full of fuzzed out and distorted guitars, studio effects, tape loops, tone generators etc. Ben-Israel sings, a scream, murmurs, whispers and moans throughout all of the tracks. His vocals are often doubled and used as an instrument like Tim Buckley, Alan, Sorrenti, Robert Wyatt and Peter Hammill, but in a totally twisted manner. The whole album (backed by the band 'Electric Stage') sounds like a big LSD acid trip, sometimes very spacey and very heavy almost industrial. Also raga-based compositions remind of some early Daevid Allen stuff with Gong on his Banana Moon album." CD version is on the MIO label out of Israel.

Also included an extra their 45 RPM incl. the previously un-reissued flipside of No Parking, a 4:45 minute sensitive but totally unexpected version of Gershwin's 'Summertime' produced by Country Joe McDonald. A foldout-cover, a poster and great liner notes that reflect the 'golden sprit' of the late 60's early 70's in San Francisco."

Artist: ASYLUM
Title: First and Last
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: RFR 020LP
"This is an excellent and almost unknown 9-track Hippie album, privately recorded/pressed in 1973 -- an original is extremely rare. The band was found by Fork Union Military Academy school members in Virginia around 1970 -- the music room of the school became their 'refuge' from the predictable, regimented military school life... Thus was born the name Asylum -- a place of refuge. Shortly before graduating and after some line up changes the last dollars were saved to make this album. The music in the Airplane & H.P. Lovecraft veins is true 60´s Westcoast psychedelic, garage, folk stuff .The electric cuts such as, 'I want you every day', 'Sometimes', 'I will be free', 'Deliverance', 'Help me be someone' contain, combined with male vocals the crystal clear voice of Elaine Lazizza (Cronin), great guitarwork (electric & acoustic), excellent drumming & organ. Acoustic tunes sometimes remind of 'Serpant Power' (David & Tina Meltzer)."

Artist: LAGHONIA
Title: Glue
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP + 7"
Price: $40.00
Catalog #: RFR 022LP
"Both Laghonia albums, Glue and EtCetera belong to most legendary and best South American psychedelic collectors albums, besides La Revolucion de Emiliano Zapata, Modulo 1000, Toncho Pilatos, Traffic Sound. The core of Laghonia, post 'New Juggler Sound' is a combination of Peruvian and US members, Saul Cornejo Vocals, Guitar, Manuel Cornejo on Drums, and David Levene on Lead Guitar and Vocals. All eight album tunes are catchy psychedelic Rock´n´Roll stuff, with English vocals, intense Fuzz Wah-Wah Guitars, Hammond B-2 Organ and a massive, variative percussion set. The songwriting is Beatles/Yardbirds-influenced and the music goes into Santana, Cream, Hendrix and other different directions. The original artwork used, is by M. Cornejo, a 7" 4 track EP and a poster incl. bio rounds this masterpiece perfectly off."

Artist: LAGHONIA
Title: EtCetera

"The EtCetera album originally released in 1971, one of South Americas greatest. It comes with outstanding original artwork, a true psychedelic painting by M. Cornejo, in a foldout cover, and extra 7" 4 track EP with 2 never released songs."

Artist: FREEMAN SOUND & FRIENDS
Title: Heavy Trip
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP + 7"
Price: $43.00
Catalog #: RFR 025LP
"World In Sound presents another group that represents the late '60s, early '70s heavy psychedelic era scene in northeast Ohio, USA (the same region that Dragonwyck is from). Having won the Starshine Productions' 'Battle of the Bands' in 1970, the five-member Freeman Sound was established as the most popular of several bands (including Morly Grey), that had records released on the Starshine label. This special collection of original songs and sounds is an exciting bit of rock history that documents some of the charm, wit and depth of talent that made Freeman Sound the special local phenomenon they were. This release includes twelve great, quality tracks, four on an extra 7" record. Bio and photos are on a poster. You'll get stoned on some mind-bending vocals backed by instrumentation that includes some very intense, heavy fuzz and wah pedal guitar sounds, solid drums and a screaming organ with flashes of famous British groups. This band broke up before they were able to make the most of their popularity. With this previously unreleased album, they may be taking up where they left off. For fans of intelligently-executed psychedelic hard rock and pop with a message."

Artist: CLIMAX
Title: Gusano Mecanico
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP + 7"
Price: $46.00
Catalog #: RFR 026LP
"For sure this is one of the most obscure and most excessive South American heavy-progressive rock albums of the early '70s. The Bolivian power-trio released Gusano Mecánico on Discolandia label in 1974. Inspiration for their music is based on the British Rock invasion, on groups like Led Zeppelin, Cream, Pink Floyd and Emerson Lake & Palmer, but also on American heavy guitar sound like Hendrix or Blue Cheer. This concept album contains six songs which are long compositions with extended instrumental parts -- and the sound is extremely energetic with various dynamic changes. You hear creative, heavy guitar riffs & psychedelic solos, fast and furious drums (double bass) and complicated basslines. The South American wildness and the excellent musicianship make this album a unique psychedelic masterpiece with various interesting influences. This reissue is a master tape release (excellent sound), presented with the original cover-artwork. Included as a bonus is a four track 7" EP with picture sleeve (English lyrics), recorded in 1969/70. Highly recommended -- originals in good condition are nearly impossible to find! (Ltd edition 500 copies, 180g vinyl, gatefold heavy sleeve + 7" EP)."

Artist: HAMANA
Title: Hamana
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: RFR 027LP
"Hamana's debut album recorded in 1974, was issued on the local Phoenix label, Canyon Records. To most of the '60s psychedelic rock/folk fans this is almost an unknown album, original pressings seem to have disappeared, only a few copies are known in collector's hands. Bruce Hamana, a native American, is a member of the Indian Hopi Tribe and went in 1969 to college near San Francisco to live 'in the white man's world.' Instead of traditional native American themes he felt like writing 'modern, revolutionary, contemporary music' -- the result you hear on this album is powerful and melodic, and expresses perfectly the sunny California peace, love & freedom feeling, but also contains a social-critical message.'One of these days everything is gonna change, things you take for granted will be taken away from you.' The music itself is emotive with strong vocals, lots of Westcoast psychedelic guitar flashes, a bit garage feeling but also loner folk style with native American elements. The appeal of this album reminds of Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Byrds, X.I.T, Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, Garrett Lund. Near unbelievable that on these recordings all instruments, bass, guitars, vocals and drums have been played by Hamana himself, to get overdubbed and to become finally a tasty and atmospheric stereo acoustic/electric mix."

Artist: DRAGONWYCK
Title: II
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP + 7"
Price: $43.00
Catalog #: RFR 028LP
"This release is the second of World In Sound's Dragonwyck trilogy. The group from Cleveland was one of the most promising bands from the early '70s in that area. After their first legendary 1970 heavy-psych album, the keyboardist changed, and the band left their garage-y Doors influences to create their own sound. The music on these well produced stereo-recordings exists only on acetate (5 copies), and drifted more into the British vein of progressive rock, like King Crimson, Pink Floyd or Yes, but also reflects US-Westcoast feeling like 'It's a Beautiful Day.' By 1972 Dragonwyck was performing Moody Blues' complete Days of Future Passed live onstage, which turned out extremely well, so this is for sure the strongest note you'll recognize. The 10 original cuts are intense and very unique with strong melodies/vocals, heavy guitar solos and an extreme variety of keyboard and vocal sounds -- an awesome mix of heavy underground rock with classical chamber-music style/elements. Included you'll find a bonus 45 record (with pic. sleeve) which was released in 1974, also a poster with a bio, authentic press-releases and cool photos, remastered from the original mastertapes -- one of the finest unreleased American progressive-psychedelic hippie-art rock-albums -- truly a masterpiece in originality, creativity and musicianship!"

Artist: JAMES, MICHAEL
Title: Runaway World
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $40.00
Catalog #: RFR 029LP
Deluxe LP version. "This album is a legendary artifact for all 60s and 70s music collectors, original copies in good condition change hands for about 500 US$. The spirit of the music is a tasty combination between aggressive groovy fuzz-garage-hard rock and atmospheric psych-folk with moody vocals and a poetic message, comparable to World In Sound's legendary Phantasia or Dr. Hooker. In between perfectly arranged songs like 'You Don't Walk On My Street,' 'I Remember' and the psych-trip 'Sleepers,' you'll hear weird spoken word themes as Guatamalan Strange, Electronic Silver and heavy-riff instrumentals. This was the debut release by Michael James, who's still active in the music business with his own label, Empath Records, and the groups Children of the Risk, Michael Yonkers and Mounting Santa feat. Dr. Fink of Prince's Revolution. This LP-reissue is produced from the original analog master tapes."

Artist: STRAWBERRY WINDOW
Title: Strawberry Window
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP + 7"
Price: $46.00
Catalog #: RFR 031LP
"Strawberry Window hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay music scene in the mid '60s and were truly one of the 'early birds' and innovators who made their own distinct brand of rock-n-roll. They played in a heavy-psychedelic-garage style, sounding somewhat reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane, (early) Mad River, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Frumious Bandersnatch. These previously unreleased recordings have survived for the last four decades in a box on a shelf in a band member's closet. Meticulous care and detail has been taken to master these recordings with a fresh, open approach, while ensuring that the sound and integrity of the vintage songs remained intact. The amazing music of this guitar based quartet ranges from catchy electric folk tunes and 'West Coast' garage rock to raw energetic acid jams lasting over 10 minutes. You'll be impressed by the (stereo) sound quality throughout their ten original cuts not to mention their freaky live version of J D Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road.' It's an out right shame that this talented bunch were not signed to a record deal back then. (In 1968 they switched guitar players, added a girl singer and changed their name to the Dandelion Wine and recorded several songs and also released a private pressing of a 4 song 7 inch EP.) World In Sound presents for the first time ever, the music of and the history behind this talented group of songwriters and wild performers known as the Strawberry Window. The LP-version will be 180g vinyl, handmade extra heavy sleeve, poster and a 3-track 7" EP, in total 60 minutes of intense but melodic performances that will take you on a trip back to the halcyon days of the Summer of Love. Discover it, it's truly a masterpiece from the roots of the legendary SF-Sound!"

Title: Red Medium
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.00
Catalog #: WIS 001LP
"A compilation of the Sforzando/Télé Music Series that includes roots of modern Funk, Soul and Jazz. Songs were recorded in early/mid Seventies in France and reflect a real 'undergroundfeeling' with many incredible creative sounds and songs that will meet today´s spirit in the best way in audiophile mastertape quality! From laid back bar-jazz to soulful driven funk-excursions and Jamaican-Vrasilian influenced tunes, this compilation expresses the bride spectrum of the French music library from the 70's. The universe of "Télé Music" was originally created to compile high-end productions of studio musicians to intensify optical impressions in TV and cinema. If you listen to it today, you will hear the roots of so called modern music. Trippy, jazzy and always funky in a way, these 12 tunes show for the first time in public release, that there is more to experience in the French Red Medium-sound, than just easy listening vibrations."

Artist: THE ID
Title: The Inner Sounds of the Id
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $32.00
Catalog #: WIS 002LP
"The Inner Sounds of the Id album features rock music with Oriental influences, played in various time signatures like 17/8, 20/8, and 7/4 time, as well as straight-ahead blues/rock in 4/4 time. You will hear the rock and roll roots drifting into garage, beat, psychedelic and progressive sounds -- powerful and unique -- far ahead of its time. The title track, longer than 10 minutes, you will never forget. It is an excursion, introducing the upcoming hypnotic beat and psychedelic sound. A cosmic sitar and meditative vocals intensify the mystical and floating vibrations of music, coming from the Id's inner space. The Beatles with Sgt. Pepper, and also the Rolling Stones with Their Satanic Majesties Request went, little later than The Id, into similar directions. This well-produced stereo 2LP set contains extended musician information, (a second LP) contains 10 bonus tracks with outtakes from the album recording sessions. This is an ultimately rewarding listening experience on the highest level of creativity and musicianship."

Artist: FEAR ITSELF
Title: Fear Itself
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $24.00
Catalog #: WIS 004LP
LP version, full color gatefold sleeve. "The album was originally released in 1969 on Dot-Records but didn't receive too much attention -- maybe it appeared as a 'too' freaked out heavy version of Jefferson Airplane or Big Brother & the Holding Co. The group started back in Atlanta Georgia in 1967 as a quartet with two guitars and played true psychedelic sound, recorded at the Record Plant in NYC, and moved to Woodstock (NY). The 10 album tracks contain two arrangements of traditional tunes all others are originals reflecting true electric heavy blues with a strong Hendrix feel, duelling guitar work and an outstanding female voice/vocals/screams...lots of intense stereo effects. This release is issued with stunning sound quality from the masters. For all '60s collectors who are not familiar with this masterpiece -- it's a must -- there are not many groups that were able to present the freewheelin' live on stage feeling on their studio album!"

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 005LP
LP version, previously on CD. "The international bands on this selection represent impressively the boiling point of the short living worldwide psychedelic rock movement between 1967-71 -- the years when garage punk evolved into heavy psychedelic rock with its wider soundscapes and complex improvisations. The groups included are: Blackrock, Sound Machine, Yesterday's Obsession, Mastermind, Sangre Mexicana, Bhagavad Gita, Protein Bros, Purple Canteen, Los Nuevos Shains, Blow Mind and the A & B-side of legendary Dirty Filthy Mud. Artist: SIMMONS, JEFF
Title: Naked Angels OST
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $25.00
Catalog #: WIS 007LP
Deluxe full color gatefold edition. "This is the first of two Straight label albums by Zappa's multi-talented 'sideman,' Jeff Simmons. In Seattle 1968 Herb Cohen and Frank Zappa were at the sound check for Jeff's band Easy Chair and were fascinated by Jeff's talent. He was soon signed to Straight records and later Jeff was in the Mothers of Invention at the time of 200 Motels. Both albums, Naked Angels and Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up were recorded in 1969. Reflecting strong fuzz guitar, heavy and psychedelicate surf-rock, Naked Angels, the original soundtrack for a Roger Corman cult biker movie, is a sequence of mostly instrumentals that combine the freedom of the late '60s mood and melody perfectly. This LP reissue comes with the original gatefold cover artwork by John Williams and includes the original French movie poster. This album is one of the coolest soundtracks made in the late '60s and was carefully remastered to sound today as fresh as it was 40 years ago. Never has a musician in psychedelic rock 'n' roll captured the essence of deep emotion and freedom like the 'sideman' ...to be continued."

Artist: OBSKURIA
Title: Discovery of Obskuria
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $34.00
Catalog #: WIS 008LP
"Space has no limit! Obskuria is hungry for the ultimate satisfaction and will hit you like an asteroid storm straight into the face. The international project started in 2006 with Tom Brehm, the legendary guitar player from the '60s US group Dragonwyck, super-talented German keyboardist Winnie Rimbach-Sator (Karmic Society/Treacle People) and La Ira De Dios from Peru. What you hear on this album is the essence of euphoria, freedom and creativity! Through the total running time of almost 80 mins, a wide spectrum of influences are covered from Pink Floyd's Meddle, Ummagumma, Amon Düül 2, Ashra Temple, Hawkwind and Brainticket as well as transforming '80s (thrash) metal into a natural '70s rock sound. This soundtrack concept album (for an upcoming movie) is best described as a voodoo space rock experience which tells the 'true' story of what will happen to the world on December 21st, 2012. Besides 6 original cuts, the album contains 4 cover tunes, such as 'Die, Die My Darling' with male and female Airplane-style vocals, a gigantic monumental 8 min. version of Metallica's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' basically in Black Sabbath sound feat. an ultra-heavy and frightening Hammond organ over burning '60s fuzz guitars -- a total blast! They perform with intensity and flow that only the end-60s San Francisco Bands and the mid '80s speed/thrash/punk revolution generated. The epic 19 minute track 'Essence of Its Own' builds up from a moody space feeling to an unexpected ground breaking explosion of sound. On low volume it may feel like an easy listening album, turning it up it will blow mind! Very few modern rock albums have the potential to bring new listening dimensions to the true music addicts & maniacs -- this one will do for sure -- it's pure euphor-rock-n-roll! (First 500 copies contain a huge poster with the artwork)." Gatefold sleeve.

Artist: SIMMONS, JEFF
Title: Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $28.00
Catalog #: WIS 009LP
"In 1968 in Seattle Herb Cohen and Frank Zappa were in the audience after his sound check, and was listening to Easy Chair, Jeff's group (soon to be released on WIS). Fascinated by his talent, he was signed for Straight Records. Both albums, Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up and Naked Angels (already released by WIS) were recorded in 1969. The Lucille album was produced by Chris Huston (Led Zeppelin II, Undertakers, Young Rascals) and Frank Zappa under the synonym 'La Marr Bruister,' who wrote the title track, played lead guitar on two tracks and co-wrote 'Wonderful Wino.' Lucille contains 10 catchy and heavy blues-rock and folk, Jeff is 'playing a hard-driven and groovy bass, piano, organ and accordion and singing in a style similar to that of Jack Bruce with Cream. Simmons presented a brace of strong, harmonically sophisticated songs that have some of the explosive, multi-hued impact of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.' (Ben Watson, excerpted from Frank Zappa: The Negative Dialectics of Poodle Play) 'No one knows it... not even him... but someday that kid's gonna be a great R&B singer.' Frank Zappa. Jeff was in the Mothers of Invention at the time of 200 Motels, Jeff also played rhythm guitar on Waka/Jawaka and clown about with Frank and George Duke on Roxy & Elsewhere. The music was carefully re-mastered to sound today as fresh as it was 40 years ago, and our release comes with a color print innersleeve & liner notes. Lucille was rated in Mojo magazine as the 2nd best release on Straight Records. Strange Things art magazine mentions it as 'the closest in execution to contemporary Mothers,' but Jeff's individual talent made this album to an all time masterpiece. Never has a musician in psychedelic rock'n'roll captured the essence of deep emotion and soul like the 'sideman!'" Deluxe gatefold sleeve.

Artist: NAKED LUNCH
Title: Naked Lunch
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $26.00
Catalog #: WIS 010LP
"Four decades after Woodstock, these fabulous recording sessions see the light of day for the first time. This album contains 5 studio tracks from 1969, recorded at the popular Mu House by the panhandle in San Francisco's Haight & Ashbury, where the likes of Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Paul Butterfield Blues Band with Michael Bloomfield frequently played music. Plus, 2 live tracks from 1970 during their 'Hight Time' best! An added bonus of 2 songs from Banda de Jesus, (a band which included 3 original Naked Lunch members), recorded by David Rubinson & Fred Catero at Pacific Recording in San Mateo, CA circa 1972. To put it in a genre: it blends the best of Latin rock, with 'rare grooves, and tricky jazz/funk elements.' Highly addictive melodies, with emotional vocals, pulsating beats with floating conga rhythms, soaring electric guitar, whirling Hammond organ, and a punchy horn-duo, create powerful arrangements to set your home stereo ablaze. This release tells the story, musically, but also in extended linernotes, and rare photos (one included poster) the evolution of the band which was founded in the summer of '69. Led by 16-year-old Abel Zarate (guitar & vocals) to become one of SF's hottest live acts in 1970, a record deal with Bill Graham's Fillmore Records was in sight, but NL was too 'raw,' and energetic to be reigned in and 'commercialized.' But now you hear it, remastered to a fresh dynamic sound from the original session tapes. The trio from NL, Murray (trumpet), Spremich (drums), and Zarate took a huge part in helping to create the sound of Latin rock group Malo, on their 1972 debut record, and helped that band become one of the premier Latin rock groups of the era. Here are their roots! The sum of the music, and the intensity of these recordings can be compared to Santana's Woodstock performance, with a bit of Hendrix-vibe, and Blood, Sweat & Tears influence. Truly a highlight of an almost forgotten San Francisco original."

"In 1971, as the war in Vietnam continued, some college students in rural, central Pennsylvania formed a band and left school behind. That year, they published a 45 RPM single, and recorded most of the music on the album available here for the first time. Influenced by the likes of Procol Harum, The Band, Traffic, Jethro Tull, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson, they bring a unique sensibility and style to their original pieces, uncannily as fresh today as they were when they were first recorded. Contains, notes, photos and band story."

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1005CD
"'Modern' singer/songwriter album that was recorded in Ohio in 1972, after being a long time on road. Joe Peace was inspired by Johnny Rivers and his experiences he made on road, when writing his 10 emotional songs for this album, that contains heavy fuzz guitars and powerful voice. This album is underrated in the collectors scene -- but an all time classic. With some unseen photos and story."

Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1006CD
"First reissue (from the mastertape) of this lost West coast monster rarity with the blend of those early S.F. bands like Tripsicord Music Box, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Kak, etc. There is a fantastic songwriting with a cosmic timeless feeling. Garrett's falsetto voice and singing is beyond words and the guitar leaves you crying on the right or wrong day. Cover artwork is one of the best artistic statements ever made for a record -- an angel mother breastfeeding a baby in cosmic space, the losing milk drops from her breast are forming a milky way. CD release contains 5 bonus tracks and bio of Garrett."

The song 'Love Is Calling' will take you to unexpected psych/folk heaven. The music was recorded in New York during 1970/71 after Glenn's departure from his psychedelic band the Headstone Circus. Title: Mission Rock
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1014CD
"Mission Rock was recorded live in San Francisco 1971 (excellent studio sound quality) -- music ranges in the early Quicksilver/Santana/Big Brother & The Holding Company style -- (68 minutes) unreleased material! Gold in 1971 was one of the hottest bands in S.F. still without an LP. Bill Graham was booking the band to open shows for Ten Years After, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Mike Bloomfield....., with the hope and the support for an LP release. Now finally after 32 years here is the album Graham would have liked to hear. Country Joe McDonald took a personal interest in the band and worked with them on a number of projects ö on this CD he wrote 2 of the 13 songs, which he had never performed with Country Joe & the Fish. The very talented guitarists Ed Scott/ Joe Bajza remind often to 'John Cipollina' founded Gold in 1967/68. Gold vocalist on Mission Rock Robin Sinclair was of the same cut of female singer of the time in the style of a 'Janis Joplin' -- an experienced professional who had recorded two LP's on Cadet Concept/Chess as part of a group called Saloom -- Sinclair and the Mother Bear. The music itself is very powerful in rhythm section with congas, two acid jamming guitars and vocals a la Janis that make this CD to an absolute must for all Hippie and S.F. Sound fans. Contains bio, great photos and underground S.F. posters. The CD was produced with friendly support of Country Joe McDonald."

"Reissue of US psychedelic ultra rarity recorded 1971/72. The original albums (a complete one and a one-sided) are legends for all psychedelic/garage collectors, only 25 copies pressed of each -- not many people have the pleasure of having seen a copy. The music is creeping slowly and sensitively in your mind, whether stoned or not ö it takes you wherever you want. Those are the complete sessions, 55mins in mastertape quality presented the first time to the public -- extremely informative booklet (20 sided), with outstanding artwork and color photos. One of the best Psychedelic albums, playing in the same league as Fraction, Music Emporium, Hunger, Mystic Siva, Damon. Later the band changed into Trizo 50 that will also be released on WIS. For us unbelievable that this extremely talented band didn't make it."

Title: Notes On A Picnic
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1016CD
"After the successful World in Sound debut of Fred's first album of progressive/psychedelic rock, Fred returns with a second album featuring the continued growth of their original and innovative sound. Lots of heavy electric guitar, progressive electric violin with fusion/ classical overtones, massive rock drums and bass, swirling garage rock organ, funky/jazzy electric piano, and heavenly vocal harmonies all mix together to create music that is uniquely fred. Influenced by Frank Zappa, King Crimson, and Mahavishnu. With echoes of 70's rock bands like Traffic, Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, and The Allman Brothers, these performances sound like something else entirely. The master tapes were originally recorded 1973/74 at Blue Rock, the studio Rolling Stone called 'the apotheosis of the laid back'. The eight instrumental and three vocal tracks are at the highest level of musical proficiency and creativity in the progressive rock genre. The CD booklet contains informative liner notes, original Fred cartoons, and plenty of photos. 64 minutes of honest, dangerous, and awesome music that will own you."

The music here, recorded live prior to the album is taken from the master tapes. The opener is an instrumental cut, followed by six diff. versions of original album tracks in very powerful style, mixed with four long acid jamming cover tunes turned into typical Siva style with pounding and hypnotic Hammond B3 organ, wailing and distorted fuzz/wah-wah guitar work, powerful (sometimes Doors influenced) vocals and massive drums which lead you to the holy grail of psychedelic music."

"This CD contains 2 parts of S.F. underground history -- both parts from the first incarnation with lead singer Richard Coco. Part 1 are the Studio Sessions of Leo Kulka's Golden State Recorders, 9 heavy guitar cuts (as on Rockadelic LP) with great congas and bizarre Rock´n Roll vocals. Part 2 is a live set at the Fillmore-West Audition, a qualification gig for Bill Grahams club circuit, which was successfully passed -- gigs at Winterland, Fillmore-West followed. These 42 minutes reach the highest level of power and a unique kind of heavy acid rock sound(containing a 6 min. killer version of 'No Parking') -- Ed Scott´s hypnotic rhythm guitar, a mind blowing bass and drums create an outstanding and surrounding flow, Joe Bajza's soaring solo guitar played in a kind of aggressive Cipollina / Jeff Beck style is brilliantly intense and brings true sixties S.F. "This is an outstanding piece of US psychedelia Stoned Circus started in 1968 in Kansas City and became soon to one of the hottest local acts. The powerful sound with male and female lead vocals has a strong Jefferson Airplane feeling, incl. great organ and heavy guitars. Not to be confused with the Stone Circus that recorded for the Mainstream label. This material was unreleased and found in the archives of Cavern Sound Studios where the Wizzards from Kansas recorded too. Rockadelic Records released these recordings as limited LP version in 1994 and is long sold out. Songs include 'Gotta find Way', 'Try Love, 'New World', 'Trust', a cover of Zeppelin's 'Gonna Leave You' plus more. Artist: FRED
Title: Live at the Bitter End
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1020CD
"Who or what on God's earth is Fred? In Swedish, Fred means 'peace', a good idea for any decade. In music, Fred is an upstart band of pseudo-bumpkins (aka hippies) from the hills of central PA (really just kids from mid-Atlantic suburbia lost in the purple haze) who took Greenwich Village by storm in 1974. Recorded over the summer of 1974 while Fred was headlining at NYC's world famous nightspot The Bitter End, these are raw, in your face live performances that will lift you up and blow you away. It is high octane, aggressive electric instrumental music with a pulse pounding beat, wailing gutsy guitar, and wild violin pyrotechnics. Live at the Bitter End features all new original music, ranging from tender to tortured, demented to delirious, always energetic, edgy, enigmatic, and full of surprises. With strong melodic themes over innovative rhythms, six pieces of the puzzle are carefully arranged into a seemingly endless variety of combinations, and then each is set loose over elegant structures for solo flights in the twilight zone of improvisation. Influenced by Mahavishnu, Zappa, Jethro Tull, Yes, Spirit, King Crimson, Bartok, and Stravinsky, as well as inspired by musicians like Jean-Luc Ponty, Jerry Garcia, Bill Bruford, Herbie Hancock, John Bonham, Jerry Goodman, Robin Trower, Joe Zawinul, Chris Squire, and Stephane Grappelli, Fred had by 1974 assimilated and fused a staggering array of disparate elements into their sound."

Artist: TRIZO 50
Title: Trizo 50
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1021CD
"Trizo 50 (post-Phantasia) added one new member on keyboards, Bob DePugh, the younger brother of drummer John DePugh. The band recorded about 150 songs on a 4-track tape recorder during 1973-74. A cross-section was released on a demo album (25 copies). The band introduction on this demo album says: 'Excuse the technical shortcomings. What we want you to notice are the songs, the sound, and the fact that we are exactly what the market is looking for, what the upcoming rock generation is looking for..' Listening to that album you will surely agree. The musical spectrum goes from straight 2-minute psychedelic beat/garage tunes with harmony vocals, pounding organ, excessive fuzz reminding to The Seeds, Stooges Yardbirds, ... over to distorted 'Zapparesque' hard rock cuts into raga-stoner acid folk! The Trizo 50 music continues the outstanding, individual and very surprising songwriting of Phantasia. This release contains 22 original cuts (4 bonus tracks to our LP version) -- all songs have been carefully remastered and were taken from the original mastertapes."

Artist: LAGHONIA
Title: Glue
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)

Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1022CD
"The core of Laghonia is a combination of Peruvian and US members, Saul Cornejo Vocals, Guitar, Manuel Cornejo on Drums, and David Levene on Lead Guitar and Vocals. All eight album tunes were released on 45´s under the group name New Juggler Sound. When the band changed name into Laghonia in 1970 the Glue album came out as a kind of New Juggler Sound 45 rpm compilation. The music is catchy psychedelic Rock´n´Roll stuff, with lyrics in English, intense fuzz, wah-wah Guitars, Hammond B-2 organ and a massive, variative percussion sounds. The songwriting is Beatles/Yardbirds-influenced and the music goes into Santana, Cream, Hendrix and other different directions. 4 bonus tracks and a bio round off this masterpiece of the complete New Juggler Sound recordings perfectly. Comes in a high quality digipak cover (same material as the Mystic Siva CD) with an extra 8 page booklet and amazing original artwork by M. Cornejo. Both Laghonia albums, Glue and EtCetera belong to most legendary and best South American psychedelic collector albums, besides La Revolucion de Emiliano Zapata, Modulo 1000, Toncho Pilatos, Traffic Sound."

Artist: DRAGONWYCK
Title: Dragonwyck
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: WIS 1023CD
2008 jewel case reissue. "This CD release is the first of a WIS -- Dragonwyck trilogy. The group from Cleveland (OH) was one of the most promising bands in that area, opened shows for bands such as Foghat, Golden Earring, Edgar Winter Group, etc. The mood of the music is dark, mystic and strongly-influenced by the times' spirit, the hippie age -- anything goes. Shortly after highschool in 1970, the 5 guys recorded 7 tracks, and released a test pressing on Pama Records in an edition of only 85 copies. It was reissued in the 1990s by Rockadelic Records in a limited edition on LP and CD -- since then, this band is a milestone for all heavy/psychedelic music collectors. Jim Morrison and The Doors brought main inspiration to Dragonwyck's music, with a small difference; the songs are heavier and more progressive; the sound is not just dominated by great vocals, there are lots of freaked-out heavy guitar solos and swirling Hammond B3 organ, which brings the individual note to the music. The core of musicians started as Sunrise in 1968 and they released one 45 record. This CD is from the mastertape which seemed to be lost, and contains 5 bonus tracks (3 unreleased), a bio, cool original artwork and photos."

Artist: HEAD SHOP, THE
Title: The Head Shop
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1024CD
"'DO YOU WANT HEAD? BLOW YOUR MIND WITH THE HEAD SHOP ALBUM!', screams a commercial ad in New York's Screw magazine in 1969. Here's the CD reissue from the original mastertape, including bios, photos and 7 bonus tracks. The album was produced and arranged by Milan, aka Rick Rodell, and Max Ellen, both professionals in the music business. The band had garage-y roots and evolved from Household Sponge to The Head Shop. Milan´s project that time was Licorice Schtik. Both outfits released a 45 record, which are 4 bonus tracks on this CD. This New York psychedelic underground project has its unique sound: soulful vocals, flying Hammond organ, fuzzy bass, distorted lead guitars, lots of percussive -- and weird -- rhythm instruments, plus several unexpected stereo effects. Larry Coryell features as 'wailing' guest musician on the track, 'I Feel Love Comin' on'. 'Listen with the Third Ear,' and this album and 9 musical chapters will lead you into new musical and audiophile dimensions of psychedelic art of music."

Artist: THE ID
Title: The Inner Sound of the Id
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1026CD
"First time on CD -- 'The Id', an incredible 1967 Los Angeles studio musician project. The members of the group were all playing with other groups, but came together to rehearse, develop, and build the album. In July and August of 1966 they recorded the Inner Sounds of the ID album, released in January of 1967, just when the new age of rock and roll had begun. The Inner Sounds of the Idfeatures rock and roll with various sounds, oriental influences, played in various time signatures like 17/8, 20/8, and 7/4 time, as well as straight-ahead blues/rock in 4/4 time. The title track, longer than 10 minutes is build as a collage, meditative lyrics transmit the vibrations from the deep inside through a mystic, floating sound and cosmic sitar -- rock and roll from inner space. The Inner Sounds of the ID, is always an intense and creative album on highest level of musicianship and proficiency. Here you hear the rock´n´roll roots drifting into psychedelic and progressive music -- not comparable to others, it was ahead of its time and maybe it inspired the Beatles for their Sgt. Pepper album or Rolling Stones for Their Satanic Majesties Request. This CD contains an extended and informative booklet plus 10 bonus tracks."

Artist: LAGHONIA
Title: EtCetera
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 1027CD
"The second World In Sound reissue of Laghonia, the EtCetera album originally released in 1971. The band improved their songwriting, got more complex, and remind sometimes of early Jethro Tull, King Crimson music, sometimes progressive, sometimes folky or mystic, but always intense and catchy, excellent fuzz and wah-wah guitars, magic Hammond B-2 organ and a variety of rhythms, all English lyrics. It comes with outstanding original artwork, a true psychedelic painting by M. Cornejo, in a foldout cover, 4 bonus tracks incl. 2 never released songs. Comes in a high quality digipack cover, same as the Laghonia's Glue CD with an extra 8 page booklet and amazing original artwork by M. Cornejo. Artist: FREEMAN SOUND & FRIENDS
Title: Heavy Trip
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 1028CD
"World In Sound presents another group that represents the late '60s, early '70s heavy psychedelic era scene in northeast Ohio, USA (the same region that Dragonwyck is from). Having won the Starshine Productions' 'Battle of the Bands' in 1970, the five-member Freeman Sound was established as the most popular of several bands (including Morly Grey), that had records released on the Starshine label. This special collection of original songs and sounds is an exciting bit of rock history that documents some of the charm, wit and depth of talent that made Freeman Sound the special local phenomenon they were. This release includes 12 great, quality tracks with bio and photos. You'll get stoned on some mind-bending vocals backed by instrumentation that includes some very intense, heavy fuzz and wah pedal guitar sounds, solid drums and a screaming organ (with flashes of famous British groups such as Spooky Tooth). Prepare to get off on cuts like the 17 minute 'Heavy Trip #70', the Hendrix-like 'Tomorrow Is Plastic' and what we would venture to say is the heaviest version of Merle Travis' '16 Tons' ever recorded. This band broke up before they were able to make the most of their popularity. With this previously unreleased album, they may be taking up where they left off. For fans of intelligently executed psychedelic hard rock and pop with a message."

Artist: DRAGONWYCK
Title: Chapter 2
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 1030CD
"Available on CD for the first time, the second of World In Sound's Dragonwyck trilogy. The group from Cleveland was one of the most promising bands from the early '70s in that area. After their first legendary 1970 heavy-psych album, the keyboardist changed, and the band left their garagey Doors influences to create their own sound. The music on these well-produced stereo recordings exists only on acetate (10 copies), and drifted more into the British vein of progressive rock, like King Crimson, Pink Floyd or Yes, but also reflects US-West coast feeling like It's a Beautiful Day. The 10 original cuts are intense and very unique with strong melodies/vocals, heavy guitar solos and an extreme variety of keyboard and vocal sounds -- an awesome mix of heavy underground rock with classical chamber-music style/elements. There are 2 bonus tracks from a 45 record which was released in 1974, a bio, authentic press-releases and cool photos. Comes in a digipak-fold cover and was remastered from the original master tapes. One of the finest unreleased American progressive-psychedelic hippie-art rock-albums -- truly a masterpiece in originality, creativity and musicianship."

Title: Psychedelic Minds Vol. 1 (Heavy Underground 1967-71)
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 1032CD
"The international bands on this selection represent impressively the boiling point of the short living worldwide psychedelic rock movement between 1967-71 -- the years when garage punk evolved into heavy psychedelic rock with its wider soundscapes and complex improvisations. Volume 1 contains a dozen 45-rpm songs by lost psychedelic messengers (eight US bands and from Germany, Peru, France each one). The groups included are: Blackrock, Sound Machine, Yesterday's Obsession, Mastermind, Sangre Mexicana, Bhagavad Gita, Protein Bros, Purple Canteen, Los Nuevos Shains, Blow Mind and the A & B-side of legendary Dirty Filthy Mud. About half of the songs are previously unreissued and appear in stunning sound quality and 12p. poster-booklet. Certainly a piece of wax for Dr. Leary's students: 'Turn on, Tune in, Listen again!' To be continued..."

Artist: WAZOO
Title: Wazoo
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 1033CD
"This group from the Detroit area is probably the weirdest experimental psych outfits from 1970. Originally the band was hired by Zig Zag Records to record cover tunes and easy listening, with the intention, 'We're just doing whatever we want,' the result was an overdosed rock concept album... 'to give the music back to the people.' Original copies are rare and pretty unknown among psych collectors until now! The 7 songs with an average length of 7 minutes combine different styles of music, from heavy garage rock to bluesy West Coast, drifting into various tripped-out, funk, jazz elements with humorous/social comments. Structure, feeling and complexity can be compared to experimental Krautrock, while the group's basic sound is represented better by end-'60s U.S. hippie rock as Country Joe & The Fish, Grateful Dead or The Head Shop with its excessive fuzz guitar work, Farfisa organ, amazing vocals by Cleveland's Bocky and several additional instruments, sax, harpsichord, cello, percussion, bells. Studio work is pretty tricky, lots of unexpected mixing and experiments, with flashes of UK's legendary White Noise. This CD issue contains a 12 p. color booklet with a band's bio, and the cool original album design, made by John Williams who also worked for Zappa -- so it can be assumed which influences Zappa used for his 1972, Grand Wazoo album?!? Wazoo presents at the highest level of musicianship free & atmospheric rock -- a unique kind of musical renaissance! -- Discover it, it's a unique piece of early '70s psychedelia."

Artist: JAMES, MICHAEL
Title: Runaway World
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 1034CD
"This album is a great artifact for all '60s and '70s music collectors, original copies in good condition change hands for about 500 U.S. dollars. The spirit of the music is a tasty combination between aggressive fuzz-garage-hard rock and atmospheric psych-folk with moody vocals and a poetic message, comparable to World In Sound's legendary Phantasia or Dr. Hooker. In between perfectly arranged songs like 'You Don't Walk On My Street,' 'I Remember' and the psych-trip 'Sleepers,' you'll hear weird spoken word themes as 'Guatamalan Strange,' 'Electronic Silver' and heavy-riff instrumentals. This was the debut release by Michael James, who is still active in the music business with his own label, Empath Records, and the groups Children of the Risk, Michael Yonkers and Mounting Santa feat. Dr. Fink of Prince's Revolution, which are 4 bonus tracks on this release. The album 'Runaway World' was recorded and produced extremely well. This CD-reissue is produced from the original analog master tapes with a 12 p. booklet and 5 bonus tracks, almost 70 minutes playing time. So, look forward to this great album by 'a unique rock artist like none you've heard!'"

Artist: SIMMONS, JEFF
Title: Straight Years: Naked Angels/Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $26.00
Catalog #: WIS 1035/36CD
"This 2CD set presents the Straight label years of Zappa's multi-talented 'sideman,' Jeff Simmons. In 1968 in Seattle, Frank Zappa and Herb Cohen were in the audience after his sound check, and were listening to 'Easy Chair,' Jeff's group. Fascinated by his talent, he was signed to Straight records. Both albums, Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up and Naked Angels were recorded in 1969. CD #1 The Lucille album, was produced by Chris Huston (Led Zeppelin II, Undertakers, Young Rascals) and Frank Zappa under the synonym 'La Marr Bruister,' who wrote the title track, played lead guitar on two tracks and co-wrote 'Wonderful Wino.' Lucille... contains 10 catchy and heavy blues-rock and folk, Jeff is playing a hard-driven and groovy bass, piano, organ and accordion and singing in a style similar to that of Jack Bruce with Cream. Simmons presented a brace of strong, harmonically-sophisticated songs that have some of the explosive, multi-hued impact of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. (Ben Watson, excerpted from Frank Zappa: 'The Negative Dialectics of Poodle Play')... 'No one knows it... not even him... but someday that kid's gonna be a great R&B singer' (Frank Zappa). Jeff was in the Mothers of Invention at the time of 200 Motels, Jeff also played rhythm guitar on Waka/Jawaka and clown about with Frank and George Duke on Roxy & Elsewhere. CD #2 Naked Angels, a soundtrack for a biker movie, is a sequence of mostly instrumentals that combines melody and fuzz guitar with heavy, psychedelicate surf-rock. This 2CD set is presented in a 20p. booklet with all original artwork and lots of memorabilia from Jeff's vaults (posters, cool photos, liner notes). The music was carefully re-mastered to sound today as fresh as it was 40 years ago, plus two bonus tracks. Lucille was rated in Mojo Magazine as the 2nd best release on Straight Records. Strange Things Art Magazine mentions it as 'the closest in execution to contemporary Mothers,' but Jeff's individual talent made this album an all-time masterpiece. Never has a musician in psychedelic rock'n'roll captured the essence of deep emotion and soul like the sideman!'"

Artist: TEA COMPANY, THE
Title: Come and Have Some Tea With The Tea Company
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: WIS 1037CD
"From New York City, The Tea Company was one of the early birds from the U.S. psychedelic underground scene, with an LP on the market, originally released on Smash Records, in '68. This album stands for the evolution of the 45 rpm psych-garage bands to the upcoming LP-generation with extended improvisation parts. The Tea Company evolved from The Naturals, which were founded in 1963 and played the big ballroom supporting The Mamas and the Papas, The Lovin' Spoonful, Bob Dylan, Ritchie Havens, and many others. The band describes themselves as 'an assemblage of possessed rock performers; retinue preparing the unusual; alternating with the roots of soul... whose purpose is to cause sensation, due to stimulation of the auditory centers of the brain!' They became famous in the U.S. for spectacular live shows and lyrical hippie statements. The music is inspired by The Beatles, using exactly the same equipment as them. The Tea Company played with lots of freaked out echo organ/guitar noises on a 12 string Rickenbacker and various stereo madness, reminding strongly of Syd Barrett's spirit but more driven by hard hittin' drums. Being buddies with Vanilla Fudge and inspired by them, The Tea Company also did an outrageous 9 min. version of 'You Keep Me Hangin On,' which is celebrated amongst '60s collectors as a true milestone. The album is a mind-blowing, intense production (CD includes 4 bonus tracks by The Naturals). Remastered for this CD-release the sound is experimental, intense and fresh, the 8 page booklet contains a nice bio, photos and memorabilia. A must for those who wanna feed their minds with unusual early heavy psychedelic rock!"

Artist: COLD SUN
Title: Dark Shadows
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: WIS 1038CD
"First time available on CD, Cold Sun from Austin, Texas was recorded in 1970 in the legendary Sonobeat studios, where the Mariani and Johnny Winter first LPs were produced. The Cold Sun band are considered contemporaries of Velvet Underground and The Fugs, often listed as being in a similar vein but inspirations for this unique piece actually go back to the desperate, haunted Joe Meek. All songs lyrically express dark, mystic poetry with the true '60s psychedelic floating/distorted fuzz spirit presented in short compact mini-epics along with several mind blowing long tunes, such as 'Ra-Ma' (11 min.), 'Here In The Year' (9 min.) and 'Fall' (7 min.). Discovered by Rockadelic Records of Dallas, Texas in 1991, the Dark Shadows album saw the light of day the next year as a limited LP version, to become today one of the most important and revered US psychedelic underground albums from the early '70s. Rockadelic heard it in the form of an old scratchy acetate that one of the Cold Sun band members had made in order to be able to play the recording at friends` parties on their turntables. The acetate only contained 2/3 of the songs but so greatly impressed them that Rockadelic managed together with bandleader Bill Miller to release the complete sessions from master tapes. Autoharp wizard Miller eventually spearheaded Roky Erickson's international debut as the Cold Sun band joined forces with Roky in 1974 and became BliebAlien, later evolved into The Aliens and backed Roky on his famous albums and historical concerts. Carefully remastered from the master tapes, this album will bring new rewarding listening experiences in expanded fidelity, plus 2 unreleased non-album songs, authentic Live/Concert recordings of 'Live Again' (10 min.) and 'Mind Aura' (7 min.). The fidelity of these reel to reel live recordings is also remarkable. The CD and Vinyl issues will both have an extended booklet/insert with liner notes by Jello Biafra plus rare photos and other surprises. According to Patrick (Lama) Lundborg from Lysergia.com: 'Best Rockadelic LP ever, and in my opinion the best Texas LP of the time.' Enjoy this ONE-HOUR psychedelic Happening, a 'must-have' '60s/'70s heavy uber-psych masterpiece!"

Artist: DRAGONWYCK
Title: Fun
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: WIS 1039CD
"This 'previously unreleased' album from 1974 rounds off the World In Sound trilogy of Cleveland's most celebrated '70s 'art-psychedelic' rock groups. It's Dragonwyck's most professional piece of music and truly decent, pioneering in combining '60s psych compositions with tape looping (comparable to Dark Side Of The Moon) and symphonic elements: 'Fun is what the name implies; hard work, a lot of sweat...orchestrated rock that is orchestrated without an orchestra'...sure they were inspired by the conceptions of giants like Genesis, '70s Pink Floyd, Gentle Giant or Yes, and express a few Doors/Bowie-flashes, to sound finally as a unique collage of detailed studio work. Compared to the time when it was recorded, it's innovatively produced and became a great artistic statement with finally 10 original cuts (plus two bonus tracks & 8-page color booklet). You'll hear prog-psych flashes and crazy symphonic perversions with weird vocals/voices, powerful guitars, violin and lots of keyboards. While the first album was minimalistic dark/heavy and had a strong Doors influence, the second created more 'British Invasion' flashes a la Moody Blues or King Crimson, to make this third album the most varied and unexpected one -- perhaps this can be seen as a futuristic Doors album. Guitarist Tom Brehm today performs with the space-Krautrock group, Obskuria. The garage-psych-freak should get his satisfaction by album no. 1, but this here is a must-have album for open minded '70s music fans who love to get excited by surprisingly different moods in rock music!"

Artist: NAKED LUNCH
Title: Naked Lunch
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: WIS 1040CD
"Four decades after Woodstock, these fabulous recording sessions see the light of day for the first time. This album contains 5 studio tracks from 1969, recorded at the popular 'Mu House' by the panhandle in San Francisco's Haight & Ashbury where the likes of Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Paul Butterfield Blues Band with Michael Bloomfield frequently played music. Plus, 2 live tracks from 1970 during their 'Hight Time' best! An added bonus of 4 songs from Banda de Jesus, (a band which included 3 original Naked Lunch members), recorded by David Rubinson & Fred Catero at Pacific Recording in San Mateo, CA circa 1972. To put it in a genre ... it blends the best of Latin rock, with 'rare grooves, and tricky jazz/funk elements.' Highly addictive melodies, with emotional vocals, pulsating beats with floating conga rhythms, soaring electric guitar, whirling Hammond organ, and a punchy horn-duo, create powerful arrangements to set your home stereo ablaze. This release tells the story, musically, but also in extended liner notes, and rare photos (20-page booklet) the evolution of the band which was founded in the summer of '69. Led by 16 year-old Abel Zarate (guitar & vocals) to become one of SF's hottest live acts in 1970 -- a record deal with Bill Graham's Fillmore Records was in sight, but NL was too 'raw,' and energetic to be reigned in and 'commercialized.' But now you hear it, remastered to a fresh dynamic sound from the original session tapes.

Artist: STRAWBERRY WINDOW
Title: Strawberry Window
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 1041CD
"Strawberry Window hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay music scene in the mid '60s and were truly one of the 'early birds' and innovators who made their own distinct brand of rock-n-roll. They played in a heavy-psychedelic-garage style, sounding somewhat reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane, (early) Mad River, Buffalo Springfield, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Frumious Bandersnatch. You'll be impressed by the great stereo sound quality throughout their ten original cuts not to mention their freaky cover version of JD Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road.' It's an outright shame that this talented bunch were not signed to a record deal back then. Then again, that's okay with us because it has allowed World In Sound the opportunity to proudly present for the first time ever, the music of and the history behind this talented group of songwriters and wild performers known as the Strawberry Window. Contains 65 minutes of intense but melodic performances and also comes with a 16-page color booklet that will take you on a trip back to the halcyon days of the Summer of Love. In 1968, they switched guitar players, added a girl singer and changed their name to the Dandelion Wine. They recorded several songs and also released a private pressing of a 4 song 7 inch EP. Truly a masterpiece!"

Artist: HEADSTONE
Title: Still Looking
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 1042CD
"This reissue by Headstone, a hard rock quartet from Indiana was their only album release. They were discovered by a local producer from Ohio, who owned the label Starr-Records and went there to record Still Looking (further they released two non-lp 45 records; you´ll find in total 6 bonus tracks from 1975 on this CD incl. 2 previously unreleased tunes). In the psychedelic underground collectors scene the album got established as a classic psych-hard-rock rarity. Their sound is strong and melodic with awesome guitar/organ leads, great and catchy vocals. Their natural float creates a hypnotic atmosphere and makes you listen to this album again and again. At all their musical spirit is closer to the end 60s blend, than the recording year 1974 reflects, and sometimes they remind of the early Bloodrock stuff. Acid Archives (Patrick Lama): 'The opening eight minute title track is a killer journey through local underground guitar psych, and there's plenty more good stuff aboard including some more lyrical moves. Underrated LP, solid all through, better than many $1000 LPs.' The CD (62 mins) will come with a band´s bio and is remastered to a fresh dynamic sound. For sure an outstanding hard-rock album with several of flashes of the upcoming new wave of British Heavy Metal (NWoBHM), an album you should not miss!"

Artist: TREACLE PEOPLE
Title: Treacle People
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: WIS 2001CD
"'Krautrock from 2005 -- on their analog-recorded debut album the quintet Treacle People very impressively and with lots of love to the detail revive the spirit, the musicianship and the passion of their British/German idols from the early '70s. The eight partly epic original compositions have been recorded in two sessions 'live' in studio and reflect many-faceted, progressive, psychedelic and classical hard rock. Their wide musical spectrum presents... expressive, emotional and striking vocals ('Cruelest Secret' - 'Zero Gravity')... atmospheric but also aggressive guitar solos ('Neptune's Kiss' - 'Anschlag I')... a pulsating, excessive-rocking Hammond-organ ('Anschlag I' - 'Last Song'), warm and dynamic Hammond/piano melodies ('Cruelest Secret' - 'Moonchild')... driven by a powerful-grooving bass and soulful to hypnotic drums."

Artist: KARMIC SOCIETY
Title: Journey
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 2002CD
"The quartet was founded in 2005, in Heidelberg (Germany) and plays with a great level of proficiency and on authentic equipment to get their analog 70's sound. Mostly instrumental jams, the Karmic Society reflects the traditional Krautrock jam-spirit of Kraan, Message, Epitaph, combined with US west coast influences, but also progressive fusion rock elements like Mahavishnu's McLaughlin, Chick Corea or Keith Emerson. Besides a unique rhythm section, you can look forward to beautiful melodies and varying compositions fitting perfectly to a festival sunny afternoon. A massive, swirling Hammond organ by Winnie Rimbach-Sator (also plays keys with Treacle People) is in communication with excessive Stratocaster guitar solos melting into unexpected orgies of sounds. This album contains 4 originals and 4 improvised covers tunes which are 'Dark Star' (Grateful Dead), 'Witches Moon' (Quicksilver Messenger Service), a heavy 'Spacepatrol Orion' version (authorized by Peter Thomas -- sci-fi sound from the mid-60s) and 'Yoo Doo Right' (Can) as a 17 min. version with stunning moog space parts and tribal voodoo percussions. The production sounds natural and grew from a free concept to a strong compact album of 65 mins intense music. (btw: 3/4 of the band support the US group Dragonwyck at live shows). The CD contains nice artwork and an 8 p. booklet. Highly recommended to sophisticated rock/fusion/jam listeners who like intense organ vs. guitar battles and to those who like to enjoy well produced experimental sounds to test their audiophile stereo equipment."

Artist: OBSKURIA
Title: Discovery of Obskuria
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 2003CD
"Space has no limit! Obskuria is hungry for the ultimate satisfaction and will hit you like an asteroid storm straight into the face. The international project started in 2006 with Tom Brehm, the legendary guitar player from the '60s U.S. group Dragonwyck, super-talented German keyboadist Winnie Rimbach-Sator (Karmic Society/Treacle People) and La Ira De Dios from Peru. What you hear on this album is the essence of euphoria, freedom and creativity! Through the total running time of almost 80 mins, a wide spectrum of influences are covered from Pink Floyd's Meddle, Ummagumma, Amon Düül 2, Ashra Temple, Hawkwind and Brainticket as well as transforming '80s (thrash)-metal into a natural '70s rock sound. This soundtrack concept album (for an upcoming movie) is best described as a voodoo space-rock experience which tells the 'true' story of what will happen to the world on December 21st, 2012. Besides 6 original cuts, the album contains 4 cover tunes, such as 'Die, Die My Darling' with male and female Airplane-style vocals, a gigantic monumental 8 min. version of Metallica's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' basically in Black Sabbath sound featuring an ultra-heavy and frightening Hammond organ over burning '60s fuzz guitars -- a total blast! They perform with intensity and flow that only the end-'60s San Francisco bands and the mid '80s speed/thrash/punk revolution generated. The epic 19-minute track 'Essence Of Its Own' builds up from a moody space feeling to an unexpected groundbreaking explosion of sound. The CD release includes one bonus track (not played by Obskuria): 'The World Is Gone' is an original/authentic flashback by Peter Thomas, Germany's mastermind for movie sounds from 40 years ago, but it shares Obskuria's vision and closes our soundtrack for The Discovery of the Planet Obskuria. On low volume it may feel like an easy listening album, turning it up it will blow minds! Very few modern rock albums have the potential to bring new listening dimensions to the true music addicts & maniacs -- this one will do for sure -- it's pure euphor-rock-n-roll!"

Title: Burning Sea Of Green
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 2004CD
"Obskuria is hungry for ultimate satisfaction; feat. members of La Ira De Dios and Dragonwyck, they´re best described as burning-heavy-psychedelic tone poetry, the roots of those 'symphonic/orchestrated' poems go back to the early 19th century, when music was intended to inspire listeners and to consider images or moods, not to focus on following traditional patterns -- free form improvisation! All 9 songs, except a Slayer cover of 'Black Magic' (transformed into '60s garage-twist), were cut from instrumental one-take jams; no headphones and all performers incl. amps in one room to feel the unfiltered natural vibes of the magical float, to get inspired in marching to the eternal outer-space-plateau as ONE unit.. it's the culmination of violent but also floating rocksound with truly authentic hard-driven 70s fuzz/space guitar overkills and spheric Hammond Organ layers. Finally two fabulous guest singers (male/female) added super-catchy soulful, haunted and atmospheric vocals. The debut album Discovery Of Obskuria, got lots fabulous and creative reviews in 2008 for their mostly excessive long instrumental space-Kraut excursions -- NOW the 5 Obskurians speeded-up most of their studio-performance with the focus to get more steady hypnotic song orientated (die)-hard-rock-tunes; which ended after cutting them into 3,5 to 5 min format, except the 13 min title track, a multi-climax, which epically expresses thee 'farewell to the American dream -- drifting in the burning sea of green'! Obskuria is inspired by '70s Krautrock, Black Sabbath, Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Brainticket, Joe Meek, Spaghetti Western and Slayer. This second album by the intercontinental quintet (Peru, US & Germany) may be seen as a soundtrack-concept-album to express in each song a different scene with an 'abundant' variety of raw energetic beauty plus revolutionary spirit. On low volume it feels like an easy listening album, turning it up it could cause unexpected mind-expansions leading into addiction not many 'modern' rock albums have the potential to bring new outstanding listening dimensions to the true music maniacs and addicts. Obskuria does! 'A new decade of purely emotional, euphoric rock'n'roll has begun to take you back to those days when music still was music!'""

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: WIS 2508CD
"The Flying Eyes are a very promising heavy psych quartet hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. This is their debut release, a full length compilation of two excellently recorded EPs (Bad Blood & Winter). Their 10 awesome original cuts (no fillers) reflect ultimately authentic the musical influences and spirit of the Woodstock generation, heavy, acid-tinged blues-rock cooked with melodic, psychedelic pop; haunted by the ghosts of The Doors, Pink Floyd and Cream while defining their own unique sound. The group has already played with many renowned bands such as The Raveonettes, The Black Angels, Witch and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys (during SXSW 2009). The Flying Eyes have also created an annual, home-grown music festival, 'Farm Fest', in Manchester, Maryland. For those sentimentalists who love the expressive and colourful 60s & 70s psychedelic spirit--.forget about an eventual invention of a time machine --. The Flying Eyes stop by to open your ears & eyes for the 'new' old dimension of open-minded classic rock music -- and NO!!!--they where not frozen for 40 years, they are NOW!"

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD

Catalog #: WIS 2601CD
"Biff! Bang! Pow! Is it garage? Is it punk? Is it psych...? NO! It's The Magnificent Brotherhood from Berlin, hottest live act in town! Here is their long expected debut album, truly a trip to the '60s beat/garage/psych era; with flashes of Bonniwell Music Machine, Monks, Group 1850, Hunger or Animals. The song 'Old Tattoo' can be heard on Trip In Time Vol. 2 (Psychedelic Rock Reflections). The group's sound shows a lot of affection for '60s acid garage rock and with a swirling instrumentation that combines fuzz guitar and bass, Farfisa compact organ and harmonized singing, their music is refreshingly different from the ruling monotony in the current rock scene! The 12 Magnificent Brotherhood songs are like a fresh breeze because they couple rawness, freshness and energy with refined psychedelic details and flawless hits. The fresh breeze builds up to a mighty tornado, thanks to fast and danceable tunes enhanced by an explosive stage performance that leaves no one dry and motionless! You can call the four guys the saviors of the non-electronic dance party, to bring a decent '60s style freakout party to your home or dancefloor! The authentic painting/artwork reflects the true '60s San Francisco hippie spirit at its best (CD is presented in a triple fold digi-package, an artist production: exclusively and internationally distributed by World In Sound) -- not many bands today present a revolutionary '60s sound more authentic than this band does!"

Title: Live In Zürich
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 2603CD
"Live In Zürich is the second live album of the psychedelic blues rock band Ginger. After 2 years and 50 live shows back home as well as abroad, those four young people hailing from Zürich have clearly taken their position in the '60s/'70s scene. Ginger is a band mainly constipated for the stage, so it is only logical that this promising four piece -- following the tradition of the old blues rock and American jam bands -- offers its jammy and experimental live shows on record. The album Live in Zürich is an official bootleg, taped with a multitrack hard disc recorder on the occasion of a live concert in Zürich in May 2008. This record is being produced and distributed as a production in cooperation with the German label World in Sound. This 60-minute live record features warm blues, lively funk and impulsive guitar driven psychedelia. It mirrors well the stylistic spectrum of Ginger and gives a glimpse of what one can expect at one of their explosive live shows."

Title: A Sad Day On Pluto
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 3001CD
"The Illiad is a young quintet from Ohio. A creatively produced demo put World In Sound's attention to the band leader Kyle Pittman, an introverted and deeply emotional singer and guitarist. A Sad Day On Pluto was recorded in Cleveland, Ohio in 2007 and contains 13 original tunes reflecting a tasty spectrum between early Pink Floyd jamming, '60s garage/flower-power and loner folk style, and features very catchy lyrics combined with interesting 'psychedelicate' melodies. Pittman's music captures a unique style of composing fresh music with the influences of Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd, West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, The Velvet Underground, Marc Bolan and David Bowie. The mixing, mostly done by Pittman himself is truly a 'trip in time' -- a 'stereo-experimental' '60s style like Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn! The song 'Are You A Librarian' can be heard on Trip In Time Vol.2 (Psychedelic Rock Reflections). With expressive vocals, screeching guitar hooks and sunny Farfisa sounds in these electric tunes and classic ballads, The Illiad create the beginning of a fantastic voyage into a concrete vision of dreamy songs. The CD comes with a 16 pg. booklet and is well produced (intense sound!). This album is highly individual and part of the new generation of '60s-influenced bands. It's a kind of masterpiece for today with the sound and ideas from back then."

Artist: TO GET HER TOGETHER
Title: John See's Lilly
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 3002CD
"Behind this extraordinary retrospective release stands two musicians from Portland, OR: Jeff Sanger and Alexa Marmon. John See's Lilly, their debut, is certainly a psychedelic gem and introduces the world to the mystic and creative To Get Her Together which carries the influence of Syd Barrett, Donovan's psychedelic period featuring a great cover version of his 'Clarence In Wonderland' and Joe Meek all rolled into one. They create a sound that sums up a scene from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Jeff is an emotive songwriter and singer taking you through a journey into his mind full of musical twists and turns with acoustic guitar rhythms over hypnotic drum and bass to tunes with electric overdrive mindblowing fuzz. Equipment used such as a 1930s David Bogen amplifier, vintage organs and effects, and analog equipment ultimately reward the listening experience. The song 'Jovial Tree' can be heard on Trip In Time Vol.2 (Psychedelic Rock Reflections) and is celebrated highly. Here is the full album with 16 songs. This album truly creates a unique dreamy psych-vintage experience in 2007!"

Artist: EL CUY
Title: El Cuy
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 3003CD
"El Cuy is a 'kick ass' power trio from Lima, Peru which seems to be one of the most intense rock 'n' roll cities for heavy underground rock today (they're friends with La Ira De Dios, who brought the massive Peru sound live to Europe in 2006). The 10 songs on this album impressively reflect the dirty old school Sabbath/Zeppelin sound, very natural and organic high octane rock. Look forward to intense cuts like 'Animal' which can be heard on Trip In Time Vol. 2 (Psychedelic Rock Reflections), 'Iraqi, Juntos y Separados' and 'El Vertigo' will surely find you cranking the volume up. All three musicians showcase a totally intense and unique sound -- Black Sabbath meets Cream! Marcos Coifman (also in Reino Emirtano) plays a hard driving bass sound on a classic Rickenbacker like Lemmy in Motörhead and the guitars create a euphoric wall of sound with outstanding heavy psych licks and moody but also punk riffs. The energy of these dudes is absolutely overflowing! A very nice 12 pg. color booklet rounds off this challenging artistic statement in being one of the heaviest modern rock 'n' roll trios you can find!"

Title: Where Have You Gone To?
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: WIS 3004CD
"Authentic '60s psychedelic rock over the past few years has undergone a strong international revival, and brings up a lot of young but only a few talented bands -- The Shivas -- are both! These four teenagers present a very remarkable debut album feat. 13 original songs of 69 min. running time -- long, but truly a varying album with interesting surprises to take you on a colorful journey (contains 8p. color booklet). Band leader Jared Wait-Molyneux presents his ideas of fresh 'alive' sound combined with a (poetical, mystic or political) message through his characteristic vocals, skillful and emotional guitar playing; but also using 'exotic' instruments such as sitar, dumbek, congas, djembe and mandolin to give it a kind of Beatles Sgt. Pepper feeling, but basically you hear on this album influences of Velvet Underground, Doors, Seeds or 13th Floor Elevators. The song 'Love' can be heard on Trip In Time Vol.2 / Psychedelic Rock Reflections and was released in Germany (2007). (For World In Sound insiders: 'Seems... history is repeating!' Not just the name, but the artwork and musicians-age remind of the ultra-legendary '60s heavy-psych group Mystic Siva -- The Shivas seem to be the closest musical reincarnation too!) -- 40 years later -- today -- is the time to watch out for the new 'psychedelic rock' generation, The Shivas are ready to blow your minds!"

Artist: LA IRA DE DIOS
Title: Cosmos, Kaos, Destruccion
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 3005CD
"It seems that La Ira De Dios from Lima, Peru, refined their concept for a unique, raw and massive 'wall of sound' for their third album. With the debut Hacia el Sol Rojo and the second album Archaeopterix, released on the German stoner/space label Nasoni records, the group were quickly met with wide acceptance of fans and excellent critics from the international media -- both albums reflect primarily the Hawkwind-style space rock with mostly long tunes and effects; (this concept now covered with Obskuria -WIS 2003 features all La Ira members). NOW the trippiest heavy underground band from Lima brings this new album to life. Cosmos, Kaos, Destruccion containing 8 songs, riff oriented 3-7 min cuts with strong MC5, Motörhead and other 'punk' influences -- for sure it's the most aggressive and heaviest album by this 3 piece line-up to date, which will satisfy fans of heavy acid garage rock or VoiVod's early works! Released in a digipack cover with cool artwork and 8p. booklet. They say all good things come in threes, here's the third album presented by World in Sound -- Chapter 3... has begun, the intention is simple but challenging: Cosmos (Space), Chaos (Mindblowing) and Destruction (Aggression)! Get ready for maximumvolumerockandroll!"

Title: No More Invention
Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: WIS 3006CD
"Here is the self-confessed Slinger's electric companion, a huge onset tour de force hailing from the realm of San Pedro (France) and that should cause weird effects through invention's great (golden) ass. First came Gunslingers, raising against the big bullshit, then came No More Invention, wearing a nine-acts sling of a hilarious outrage. Introducing the ultimate assault of her illegitimate three sons, also known as massacre-rock deviant inquisitors, a French deconstructionist trio who needed to abuse the artifacts of some lost rock synthesis in one total, furious and quintessential record, like an evil paradox of rock. Expect pure apotheosis of wild horror biker freakouts, acid avant-punk and trippy psych-noise with no respite from the action's breakneck speed. Gregory Raimo aka GR's incriminating unspoken yaya words and unparalleled orgiastic guitar savagery over control, spacey analog effects fulminations and feedbacks culminating with Matthieu Canaguier's hypnotic and castrationist ritual thunder bass, and Antoine Hadjioannou's prophetic mad with scalp crashing down drums-machete. From the gigantic 13 minute long blowing Krauty prayer of 'Lighter Slinger Festival' to the frightening embodiment of Nathaniel Hawthorne's 'The Minister's Black Veil', this is some magnetizing unknown & sacred distillation. Comes with a four page booklet of awesome artistic statement in a limited digipack edition. Loud and irreverent up to hilarity, and paradoxically, largely out of any category, this freakish explosive mixture, recorded in 2007 in three days, re-pioneers the hijacking of rock landmarks. Probably based on Lady Hysteria's (herself) voluntary uncontrolled intent, Gunslingers' No More Invention spreads the enlightenment of catastrophic happenings and a nonsense of epic blackout scenes into electric round of fury. Be prepared for a constant state of shock."

"Lineup: Lead guitar & expansive guitar, horizontal bass, regular & extensionist drums, loco-drums & asymmetric drumming, wah-vocals & story, background organ & keyboard, shouts & effects, 4 track tape recorder. One man All-Made Record-Excavator into the deep limbo of egoXploitation. Features 43 min. of decadent loco self-conduct & mystifying woodoo'lectric playing, directly dropped down from the sole complexion of individual force as a plural human's sonic concoction, the alone-lineup that never existed but in the incarnation of one: Full-Blown Expansion. Get into Gunslingers' founding member alchemy - supreme wild stuff of weird, abstract & deviationist multi-instrumental solo performs, improvised & composed and elevated separately on each instrument & track by GR (mostly in one take).Along with the whole instrumental lineup, analog 4 track tape recording & other insinuation (lead guitar & expansive guitar, horizontal bass, regular & extensionist drums, loco-drums & asymmetric drumming, wah-vocals & story, background organ & keyboard, shouts & effects, 4 track tape recorder), the record comes up in a limited Digipack edition assorted of GR's mesmerizing iconographic artwork, plus original secret visionary liners by Cold Sun-The Aliens' legendary autoharpist Billy Miller. Careful with that 'Descent along the an-ti-fohn-nul''s 13 min. of extensionist drumming and seminal acid stoned guitars & wah-vocals driving that leads to the great infernal boogie accident- Vs the regular alternation (in rhythm & guitar color tone) of the fuzzy oniric 'Transfiguration on a sepiachord'- Vs the wizardesque inspiration of 'The metal spike,' GR's one very archetypal & representative of the instant composition process & the superposition of orchestral muses. And careful again with that explosive insane unmethodic 'The intercessor speaks,' some ultra-shouting wave's traumatic 7 min. towards the abyssal fluxus of koZmic Rock-Vs ' The scene/slowly's getting louder''s ritual rotative-leslie & expansive wah noise guitars coming with special voice box- Vs all stoned day long they take you' 's impossible alinear & asymmetric instrumental superposition (includ. transcendental background organ) backing up immaculate spoken poetry- Vs the enigmatic analog keys & clair-obscure of 'Blind Black or pearly white.' Bliss!"

"MAXIMUMVOLUMEROCKANDROLL!!! (Part 4) The Peruvian psych/space freaks are back, with some rural reflections of the 60s acid punk era with its catchy, raw & animalistic high energy performances. Can a riot be started by the slow and on low volume? -- NO- the title says it all (a mix of The Clash classic and Peruvian Andean mythology). Since their fabulous debut album Hacia El Sol Rojo the group evolved into a mighty tight 'wall of sound' (not just live on stage); but still keeping their sensitive feeling to hypnotize a wide spectrum of rock freaks who like it intense! -- Look forward to hard driven riff/solo guitars, pumpin overdosed bass, crazy´n´wild marching tribal drums, combined with outer space effects & noises -- the dark euphoria will make you stand up and dance! If you missed the MC5, The Stooges, Bored! or Los Saicos good old times, this is your ticket to an extreme psychedelic punk trip. (As bonus on the CD you´ll find a cool video). Again, they are back and they want your brain for party...for revolution...cause right now is time to FIESTA & REVOLUCION!"

Label: WORLD IN SOUND (GERMANY)
Format: CD

Catalog #: WIS 3009CD
"Who should have thought some incoming spawn would survive No More Invention (2008)? Yes sirs, inside the Grand Procreator's consumed ashes, still half lying half standing thus was some rebel mass endowed with the urge to appear in face of the fallen stuff. It would be chemically determined as a following sacrificial revenge after Invention got lost 2 years ago in a rock located in San Pedro Ville, France. And then came rebellion appearing in its entire regained nudity, though it was given a load of Seltz water so it can endure its own terrifying blast power. Here it is -- now Maniacs & Zealots, be afraid of intending to tickle the Beast from your players! World In Sound presents Manifesto Zero, Gunslingers' second atrocious little deformed baby, recorded on the infuriated November of 2009 while evil-red-eyed wolves were getting enraged in the frightened night. No doubt it has to be a relentless sonic testimony in the style of throwing Vitriol at the snobbish subculture's face and, Willynilly, you'll be given a proper naughty chase and a sixfold punishment always greedy of its prey from start to finish. Rhythmically Cyclopean as overexcited as starving due to the constant hammering of its ritualistic tempo & contra-tempo gluttony, its disturbing debauchery of lysergic & contemplative elements gives besides the whole savagery thing some multipleheaded Beast aspect by leading its own sound color touch (& its obvious axis of devastation) right into the alley of a space glider under oversaturated hypnosis ; and more generally, into variable expressions & exploration areas which stand between Underground Rock Music' unclassified genres & subgenres. Demented Guitar wall-of-acid-riffs, pissed off takeoffs & instrumental smashs on bewitchment mode, harmonic death traps, pulsatory frenzy & insane grooves in the likes of a vicious contortionist highway, startling surrealistic vocals sealed to a psychotic Daedalus-esque bass unfurling, and ultimately a scary statement of visceral power. The whole thing devoted to the cult of analog 4 track tape recording, the everlasting oily machine & Slingers dynamo. Manifesto Zero is nothing less than an authentic firebrand."

LP version in gatefold sleeve. "It seems that La Ira De Dios from Lima, Peru, refined their concept for a unique, raw and massive 'wall of sound' for their third album. With the debut Hacia el Sol Rojo and the second album Archaeopterix, released on the German stoner/space label Nasoni records, the group were quickly met with wide acceptance of fans and excellent critics from the international media -- both albums reflect primarily the Hawkwind-style space rock with mostly long tunes and effects (this concept now covered with Obskuria -- WIS 2003 features all La Ira members). Now the trippiest heavy underground band from Lima brings this new album to life Cosmos ... Kaos ... Destruction containing 8 songs, riff orientated 3-7 min cuts with strong MC5, Motörhead and other 'punk' influences -- for sure it's the most aggressive and heaviest album by this 3 piece line-up to date, which will satisfy fans of heavy acid fuzz garage rock or VoiVod's early works! "The experimental guitar-driven musician collective, iH8 Camera (='i hate camera') from Antwerp, Belgium was formed by 2004, around the nucleus of the Love Substitutes. iH8 Camera performs rarely but frequently live and in changing line-ups and Trip In Time discovered them for the Burg Herzberg Festival 2006 (Europe´s biggest hippie fest). The Sextett arrived at the Freakstage just in time for their set -- ready to plug in and perform this mindblowing 50 minute improvisational freak-out show. Their odyssey seemed long and must have been impressive to the band; finally they got inspired to name their 7 songs after cities from the area which have been passed on this trip, lyrics reflect the 'true' stories about life on road! For sure you'll recognize influences of Pink Floyd´s early period (69-71), 13th Floor Elevators -- but also more modern ones, such as Radiohead or Deus (Ward & Trouvé are former Deus members). We assume that not many festival visitors will remember this show -- but finally this awesome performance will be available, mixed by the band and mastered to excellent sound-quality. These catchy and floating psychedelic sounds will leave no one untouched! It's the major league among today's experimental rock albums, where the present and future of rock collide in the progressive world of iH8 Camera. Digipack."

Price: $20.00
Catalog #: WIS-T 2507CD
"This short lived German acid-psych Sextet had one private limited edition release in 1997, called Chambers (vinyl only). Until today it became a rare, high-rated collectible among psychedelic underground fans. While numerous bands in the '90s & 2000s tried to revive the true '60s/'70s spirit & sound, Living Room reached a high level in authenticity. When you hear it, you will bet that this was made in 1968! They used vintage equipment and effects such as Farfisa-organ, fuzz & echoing guitars, flute and two beautiful girl voices. These recordings present their previously unreleased second album, a heavy floating but also a mystic folk listening pleasure -- 8 cuts which reflect Krautrock inspirations in the vains of Amon Düül 2, Hölderlins Traum but also a lot 'Summer Of Love' hippie-spirit. Look forward to enjoy songs like 'Orange Plastic,' 'Rising Dawn' or 'Times Like Lakes' (which can be heard on CD on Trip In Time Vol.3, WIS-2503). The CD, well remastered, comes in a limited digipack cover, with 4 bonus tracks (from their debut Chambers). Those guys took their Trip In Time about 10 years ago, with this 'timeless' artistic statement from the underground -- truly a catchy psych gem!"

"If you are into uninspired lo-fi garage, turn the page, this is not for you. If you are turned on by names like The Music Machine or The Seeds, then you should certainly get to know The Magnificent Brotherhood. Dope Idiots brings you twelve original songs, full of trumpet-like fuzz guitars, Farfisa organ swirls and Zappa-esque lyrics, all blended with a punk attitude. Despite being faithful to a vintage sound, The Magnificent Brotherhood have developed their unique songwriting style. And we say unique because it doesn't sound like a Nuggets cover band. This is music. This is the real thing!" Gatefold sleeve.
