QST 002EP
Label boss Nachtbraker makes his solo debut on Quartet Series with his most club-orientated record to date. Taking over the full A side is the titled track "Small Towel People". An uplifting bass line accompanied by heated 909 percussion and a hypnotic thriving arp seal the deal. "Kippendijen" is a heavyweight in the house category, with some glimpses of early days jacking house and a little French touch on the filter. "Zomaar" kicks off with an energetic MPC style breakbeat before morphing into a deep jam of lush chords and a thrusting 4x4 beat.

DEEPST 002EP
"'Nervily funky, angrily melancholic, 'My Friend' is an epic, Bristolian deep-house combination of haunting spoken word, feedback and squall, and hacked-up Rhodes. Frazzled but still stomping through Rome. On the flip, 'Me & Her' is a foggy house jam, with a twinned palette of crunchy Rhodes and sampled drums. Just as tough, but this time the unease is lurking in the back somewhere rather than staring you down, as the groove stretches out hypnotically.' Screen-printed sleeves with insert. Hand-stamped labels."

ST 002EP
Seth Troxler, primarily recognized for his bond with Detroit and its varying strands of house and techno, founded his Soft Touch imprint in 2014 to seek out left-of-center cuts touching on "interstellar guitar, calypso disco and seductive techno tracks." The label's second release comes from the trio Rework (Visionquest, Playhouse). "Girl or a Boy" kicks things off with a dense wall of ducking pads before Sascha Hedgehog's vocals prowl over moody chord shifts. The title-track emits a Miami-tinged glow atop a walking bass pattern and a melancholic synth refrain before "Moon" sets hazy guitar licks rotating inside an aquatic casing.

TST 002EP
The second release from Trust comes from the duo Us. Trust, Cocoon artist Julien Bracht's own label, engraves three tracks on wax that present noise as original as can be. The title-track by the duo Us, namely Louis McGuire and Markus Nikolaus aka Cunt Cunt Chanel, is a straight-up soulful blend, thick with the commanding charm of Markus' velveteen vocal underpinned by McGuire's pulsating beat -- as hypnotic as it is powerful. Julien's "Space is Heaven Rmx" captures the hard, dry sound of a live-jam between the pair, while his heady Trust Mix promptly quashes any doubts left hanging.

SNDST 002EP
Hinz & Ruhmhardt is the long-nosed and beardless techno outfit of Berlin-based music producer Stephan Hinz and Cologne-based music aficionado and techno connoisseur Philipp Ruhmhardt. Hinz & Ruhmhardt come out of the gate full-speed on their first EP with "Doch"-- a grinding and relentless kick-drum, hi-hat and snare combo that will no doubt hypnotize even the most relenting soul. "Panther" features a snarling synth that slowly lurks closer while the loop of hypnotic tones and pulsing drums keep the mark focused and unwitting of its true motive.

HEIST 002EP
Max Graef's track "Jungle" (with multi-talented pen-pal Andy Hart) is probably the most sought-after track of Heist's sets lately and has caused quite a flow of emails ("what the hell is this??"). It's got that ass-shaking groove without being a regular four-to-the-floor banger. "Ignorance is Bliss" has a rough warehouse vibe on the lows, a hint of disco and a set of Rhodes-y keys running through the track to set the mood. "Zitze" features layers and layers of vocals, textures and keys taking turns and a great shuffle that runs through the track that makes it just as much a good listen as a dancefloor jam.

BROADCAST 002EP
Gluteus Maximus is Iceland's President Bongo and DJ Margeir, the duo behind the remix of Sigur Rós' Gobbledigook. These dysfunctional artists, steeped in the ancient red-art of double-handed beat-synch disorder, have traveled the world jockeying their disks all over the planet. Includes a remix by Kaspar Björke.

INSIST 002EP
Insist Music's second release is a fancy triple: Side A presents Sascha Sonido's track "Tanzania," remixed by Patrick Kunkel and Dirk Redmer, which straddles the borderlines of house, garage and techno, paired with a smacking house groove, playful chords and spooky/soulful vocal effects. On side B is a pair of brilliant house tracks: "Tanzania" and "Koh Samui." On both tracks soulful voice matches beats and synths perfectly, taking the dancefloors to a higher level.

ARKST 002EP
Arkestra presents the first release for this mysterious Spanish producer. Little is known about Noaipre (Rohe Rodriguez on his ID). The A-side kicks things hard with "Pretty Psycho," a fuzzy-squared mammoth stomper greased with glowing hot marmalade riffs and rave-ish crescendos, topped with colorful chipmunk-diva chops that sugarcoat this urgent ode to golden-era grime circa 2005. "Anxiety Square" features synths in a bright green, dense waterfall of ones and zeros pouring and bubbling over spin-dry cycle snares, toms and kicks.

CONSIST 002EP
Argentinean talent Santos Resiak has already created a valued position amongst a fresh wave of house producers, and now offers 3 fresh, summery cuts. "Venezuela" is a straight-up house bomb that combines heavy drums, hypnotic keys and just the right measure of playful funk to keep the tension on fire. Carefully sequenced, it really sums up the warm, feel-good attitude presented throughout the EP.

MST 002EP

"This release on the unknown and actually not really existing Moustache label. Contains 2 high-energy Italo influenced electro tracks by the Finnish hero Mauno Kalevi in the same vein as Skatebård's releases. On the flip 2 tracks by Mark du Mosch, the space-house meister from Rotterdam. Only available as white label/stamped release (but with a nice inlay sheet)."

JUST 002EP
"During his studies of electroacoustic music in Vienna Efdemin (Phillip Sollmann), who releases solo on Dial, met art student and DJ Rndm (Oliver Kargl). Both were equally interested in minimal techno and ended up in the studio soon after. They soon decided to test their invention live and kept recording their sessions on stage and in the studio. From those sessions a very minimal yet warm aesthetic emerged. Their music has a peculiar swing and sound that would have not been possible without their selfmade software. After long days of browsing through megabyte after megabyte of their recordings, Pigon dug up the most interesting sections, applied some editing, added a few elements here and there and finally came up with 'Auf und Ab' und 'Hin und Her'."

INZEST 002EP
Herrmann Karaoke is the pairing of Thaddi Herrmann (Herrmann and Kleine, Sonic Subjunkies, City Centre Offices) and Mitte Karaoke (WMF). Featuring two remixes on the flipside. Sehr fein."
