in Morocco in 1995, the purpose of this series is to record rare and secret ritual music as it happens. The logical continuation is with the more reflective music of the Sufis. Along with the droning sound of the double reed and tebel drum, the recording begins with the very raw Gnaoua of Marrakesh featuring the true and pure voice of young Tayib Taiybe (the most extraordinary soul voice since Jimmy Cliff). This release showcases the solo flute of some of the oldest musicians of Joujouka. For your ears and heart, this second volume reveals heretofore unknown sacred chamber music by the Morocco's most acclaimed musicians. The music of Joujouka is still one of the most liberating of musics, a secret message to the soul at a time when the soul has been effectively discredited by conservative forces.
