Title:
Audiomatique Volume 2.0
Label:
AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format:
CD
Price:
$15.50
Catalog #:
AM 003CD
After the devastating excellence of
Audiomatique Volume 1.0
, mixed by venerable label don
Martinez
, it's time for the masters to reclaim their techno crown.
Steve Bug
's imprint Audiomatique is back with a second label compilation, seamlessly blended by NYC's arch tech selector,
Adultnapper
.
Audiomatique Volume 2.0
is a descent into the deepest realms of electronic rhythm, veering from the spare, crisp minimalism of
Gui Boratto
and
Martin Eyerer
's "The Beach," to the moody, strobe-lit melancholia of M_nus producer
Gaiser
's "Found Guilty Mix" of
Adultnapper
's own "Juror No. 9." A perfect snapshot of the label's diverse roster, Adultnapper subtly builds the mix from stripped-back, echoing grooves to tougher, club-battering technoid epics. Electronic music's brightest flames --
Trentemøller
,
Robert Babicz
,
Joris Voorn
, Martin Eyerer, Gui Boratto, Martinez and Adultnapper -- all contribute to Audiomatique's formidable reputation, weighing in with their heaviest tracks.
Audiomatique Volume 2.0
also features no fewer than eight new, exclusive and unreleased tracks by Robert Babicz, Martinez, Adultnapper, Boratto & Eyerer,
The Viewers
,
Joel Mull
and
Mikael Jonasson
: six on the CD and three more on the 12"s. Adultnapper's mix illustrates the electronic zeitgeist, and offers a glimpse of where house and techno are heading in the future. Other artists include:
Stephan Hinz
and
Alexi Delano

Gravity EP
Label:
AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
AM 012EP
"The Adultnapper is Francis Harris from Brooklyn, New York, a shrewd & clever coeval who reveals his vision of modern electronic dance music on his first EP for Audiomatique entitled
Gravity EP
-- three new cold twinkling Techno tracks. The well-read producer carefully chose the track names which refer to what he considers as greatest novel of the 20th century:
Gravity's Rainbow
by Thomas Pynchon. Much of his relationship with music coincides with his love of literature. When he is working on tunes, he tends to have a specific project or concept in mind. At the time, he was thinking of some specific moments in the novel and this music came to mind. The first track an the a-side named 'Fodder Feeder' refers to the material production of knowledge in media and capital, a feedback loop of control that works in its apparent flaws and mistakes. If one notices, the main synth that comes in is a bit odd and almost out of time, but works in a grinding sort of way. 'Metabulia' on b1 is the living organism that is no organism at all. Just the illusion of humanity as projected by the fodder feeder (the word doesn't even exist). And 'Slothrop' on b2 is actually the main character in
Gravity's Rainbow
. Now you know."

Price:

AM 026EP
This is
Francis Harris
aka
Adultnapper
, with his second EP on Audiomatique. With its stoic bass line and freaky synths, "Juror No. 9" builds very subtly and creates a dense, claustrophobic atmosphere. With its devilish vocals, freaky sounds and a dirty bass, "Brandy McLeod" is an even darker dancefloor weapon.
Jon Gaiser
does remix duty, inducing a percussive, minimal rhythm which turns the track into a highly intoxicating floor-filler.

's For "Red Light of Dawn," SLS turns in two peak-time techno tools, overloaded with power and energy. "The Drums" mix holds things steady, while "The Melody" mix fills the room. Watt's edit of

AM 035EP
NYC's leader in hi-tech mindplay
Adultnapper
, brings us more of his dark and addictive electronic funk. "Madeleine" is a cooly focused, dark, yet sweet grind, giving way to twisting wires and electro-acoustic energy as a catchy theme is constructed from broken stings and ghostly, junked pianos. "One Room" is a complex, jacked and blissfully melodic jam that is versatile, but cries out to be played at sunrise!
Gregor Tresher
transforms the original's gentler sentiments into a peak-time, bouncing techno treat.

Almost Nothing
Label:
AUDIOMATIQUE (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
AM 038EP
Adultnapper
turns in a freaky two-tracker using a timeless electronic sound palette. "Almost Nothing" is a reduced spacer that features endless, tweaked-out studio trickery. Haunting smatterings of melody, synths and funky vocals drop in and out as this deep, acidic groover charms you from the inside-out.
Patrick Chardronnet
's remix also begins on a reduced, textural tip, yet builds into an organ-led climax. "White Fingers Black Hair" features a meandering groove, jacked-up with dirty hats and a playful synth theme.

DIRT 012EP
"Francis Harris delivers his second statement out of NYC and proofs us all that he is the Master of Darkness.
Factoring Your Lack Of Cool
moves on where his last record
Fecund
left us, a new approach to the minimal sound that will become Adultnapper's trademark for sure in the coming years...his productions stand out above the rest and are amongst the best minimal techno has to offer nowadays. 'Clis' is a deep and beautiful piece of techno music you don't ever want to leave the dancefloor once you are trapped in its delirious melodies. With a really long build up it explodes towards the end and makes the crowd crazy. A real genius mix of electro-house elements with deep minimal grooves. You can describe his music only with one word: CLIMAX."

NUMMER 020EP
"Over three years, sequestered in his Brooklyn-based matter:_form studios, former Las Vegas raised punk rocker turned DJ, Francis Harris, worked determinedly to hone his electronic music production skills, crafting a sound uniquely his own. This is no small task in a medium driven by technology designed to help novices mimic the prevailing style of the moment. What emerged is a sophisticated vision of electronic dancefloor sonics characterized by elaborate swung micro-rhythms, thick musical basslines, complex arrangements, haunting tonal melodies and brooding introspective atmospheres. It is a mature song-based approach, so far removed from the skippy rhythms and repetitive loops typical of the tech-house tracks upon which he first made his name as a DJ that Harris felt the need to reinvent his image... and so born was Adultnapper." Pressed on clear red vinyl.

Price:

NUMMER 031EP
"
Compass Rose
: Beware. When Adultnapper is at the controls, what often starts out innocently enough as a thick dub rhythm, proves, by the end, to be something entirely more nefarious. On
Compass Rose
, Adultnapper is up to no good again, wooing the listener with gently pulsating kicks and snappy hats before foreboding tidbits of well placed noise that open the door for an insistent pad rising ever so slowly from the nether regions of consciousness. Like the onset of a migraine, the groove tightens around the pad until its mass obliterates all else... and then, just like that, it melts away to reveal a sweet melodic surprise that is sure to unleash a wave of euphoric emotion on the dance floor. 'Lugubrious': File under surrealist sci-fi soundtracks for the club. Rich with strange atmospherics, listening to 'Lugubrious' evokes scenes of Barbarella exploring an Yves Tanguy landscape, only our heroine had better hurry back to her ship before that sinister sounding synth catches up to her!"

PFR WHITE06
NYC's
Adultnapper
presents
Slowly
, a typically spooked-out 2-tracker from the East Coast's master of the dark and funky arts. The title track is full of the type of crazy textural landscapes that have become synonymous with Adultnapper's bass-infected sound. Jazz-influenced hooks, sultry vocals and horns-a-plenty, it all makes for an incredible workout. "Gold And Forgetting" is a touch more mysterious, with a floating, Chicago-esque synth theme at its tender heart. Nine minutes of pure and precious metallic sheen.

Betty Crocker Moves to Berlin/Kaitlin
Label:
SUPERFREQ (UK)
Format:
12"
Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
SFQ 008EP
"'Betty Crocker...' has picked up such a huge buzz in club land. This track is classic Adultnapper material, dark & haunting with a minimal edge yet it's so funky & intense. The track starts with a solid house groove & builds with electronic horn stabs & swooping electronic pads into a solid groove which builds to a point of delirium & then breaks down to just bass & kick which never fails to leave the dancefloor screaming. The track then builds again adding new hooks & melodies of the most intense fashion which put the final touches to this amazing slice of electronica. 'Kaitlin' on the flip, is an altogether different kind of monster. Deep, smooth & soulful but still with those unmistakable, dark, disjointed Adultnapper overtones. This is one of those beautiful tracks that makes your skin tingle & puts a smile on your face. Lush, warm, rich with a rolling bass line & rich warm chords. This track could well become an end of the night classic."
