Artist: ALESSANDRONI/PAUL & HONESTY
Title: Tridem
Label: CRIPPLED DICK HOT WAX (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: CDHW 095CD
2004 release. This co-production brings together Italian composer Alessandro Alessandroni, (Once Upon a Time in the West, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, etc.) and the Berlin producer-duo Daniel Paul and DJ Honesty, also known as Slope. These recordings were made with the help of friends like Morricone chanteuse, Gianna Spagnulo, Volker Meitz, Micatone bassist Paul Kleber and many others. Alessandroni's classical instrumentation -- mandolin, piano, guitar, saxophone or accordion -- meets up with new beats and is lent polished form with a charming, unconventional and vital production by Paul and Honesty. The CD (digipak) comes with a QuickTime film as bonus, and the vinyl release is a limited and numbered 180 g. pressing.

Title: Welcome
Label: CRIPPLED DICK HOT WAX (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $8.50
Catalog #: CDHW 097EP
2004 remix EP, featuring remixes from Maurice Fulton and Olav & Jögges. Colin Corvez and Volker Meitzs voices and breaths within a loose beat make up the essence of this track to which Fulton introduces pathos and excitement by putting wonderfully emotional soundlayers right in the heart of the swing. Class is class stays class, there seems to be no other way for Mr Fulton who adds another stunning gem to his impressive back catalogue with releases on Pagan, Warp, Tigersushi, Nuphonic, Output and Transfusion.

Title: Believe
Label: CRIPPLED DICK HOT WAX (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $8.50
Catalog #: CDHW 098EP
2005 release. A new face on the disco floor is Tobi Foster from Switzerland. Being part of the Soultourist Kollektiv, he's around for a while as keysplayer and DJ. His remix of "Believe" is his debut as a solo-artist. Cologne's Pascal Schäfer follows up with a tempting huggybear of a track that grabs you and doesn't let you go anymore. But maybe Sygaire, also known as Kosma, Roskow and part of Jazzanova, can help. He turned "Welcome" into a streetstyle version that should satisfy both old- and nu-school needs. "Believe" gets a Brazil treatment from Difusora, which is HP Eckhardt aka Agapê from Berlin and Marc Frank, part of Les Gammas from Augsburg. Their approach to Latin music is an original and rough one.
