"The best French-Belgian electro-samba record you've never heard. Antena's Camino Del Soul was first released in September 1982 as 5-song, 18-minute mini-LP on the elusive Brussels label, Les Disques Du Crepuscule. Numero 002 contains re-mastered versions of the original Camino Del Sol tracks compiled along with the band's first EP, period B-sides, compilation tracks and two unreleased cuts. 'With any justice, it will bring new light to a lost gem, as similar reissues did for Os Mutantes, whose adolescent dementia influences this record's tropicalia songs ('The Boy from Ipanema', 'Sissexa'), and Shuggie Otis, whose piquantly primitive drum machines propel each track. So much hidden influence lies in these songs. "1982, Brussels: The former au pair for Rick Wakeman of Yes and two of her teenage friends are at the doorstep of Les Disques Du Crepuscule to make an album with Gilles Martin. Living on busking wages and next door to Tuxedomoon, they manage to make a contemporary bossanova record that provides the missing link between Antonio Carlos Jobim and Kraftwerk. Antena's album would be issued and promptly forgotten, with Isabelle Antena moving toward jazz in Asia and the others returning to France. Twenty years later, it was findable only as a VG+ LP with a sticker price of $4.99. Intrigued by the striking cover's patio furniture at rest in the south of France, we scooped up Camino Del Sol immediately, giving it the distinction as the second record in our library. Six years later, we're finally issuing it on LP. The original Camino Del Sol has been given back its spacious mini- LP quarters, packaged in a replica of its Benoit Hennebert-designed sleeve, while the remaining tracks (including all four songs from the 'Boy From Ipanema' session, 'Seaside Weekend,' two Crepescule compilation cuts, and four period outtakes) have been given their own LP, recasting this short-lived combo's forward-thinking mile marker as a modern-day masterstroke." 2007 release. Permanent Vacation presents a selection of remixes of Antena's classic 1983 electro samba/pop album Camino Del Sol. "On The Boat" is transformed into a dancefloor bomb by Belgium's Disco Devil. Nouvelle Vague transports "Frantz" into a deep and moody cinematic soundscape, slightly reminiscent of Ennio Morricone. Then Italy's Phreek Plus One offers a deep, cosmic remix of "Achilles" and Lexx morphs "Bye Bye Papaye" into an elegant Afro-bossa dub, keeping the relaxed atmosphere of the original version.

2007 release. Tom Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich from Permanent Vacation present Versions Spéciales, a project that reimagines the classic 1983 electro samba/pop album Camino Del Sol by legendary French band Antena. The idea was to track down the album's classic tracks to give them a more dance-related approach without losing the vibe of the originals. The tracks that make up this release do not simply result in a collection of remixes or a pointless remix CD, but result in a more homogenic longplayer that is compelling to listen to as a full-length release. For this project, Permanent Vacation chose some of their favorite producers, most of them totally aware of the Antena sound and big fans themselves: Nouvelle Vague, Todd Terje, Joakim, Steve Yanko, Escort, Disco Devil, Chromatics, Enne, Lexx, Pink Alert and Phreek Plus One.
