"Arctic Hospital is the icy pseudonym of US-based techno producer Eric Bray, and Citystream is his debut album release for Miami's respected Narita label. After a series of well received and dancefloor destroying 12"s, he has compiled the best of his tracks into a coherent full length which adeptly shows the breadth of his skill as a producer. Building on the glacial technological explorations hinted at in his moniker, Bray has forged an album which blends the emotion and epic vibrancy of classic electronic soundtracks with the 4/4 dancefloor crunch so many are eager for at the moment. "Narita from Miami rapidly established itself last year, with many commenting it was prompting them to take up vinyl deejaying again. Adam Johnson's 'Malk' found favour with the likes of Way Out West's Warren and Digweed, two different tunes going on to land on mix CDs by the both of them -- a fixture in many DJ's boxes. Two further twelves traversed the Detroit-Berlin-Koln-Tokyo axes of this confident young upstart, Apendics Shuffle finding himself at the sharp end of a sell out, and the Terminal One sampler introducing us to our cover star for this release, Arctic Hospital. Smooth and precise techno doesn't come much better than this: 'Cold Wrapper' has it all -- ancestral chords, a muscular bass presence and resounding drums -- palpably kicking. 'Siren on My Shoulder' possesses many of the attributes which made 'Malk' such a blinder -- aquatic dubby refrains, submerged gliding melodies and a building intensity filled with bumping body tempo changes which make for a perfect dancefloor friendly fit. 'Gift Horse' strips things back to minimal machine-tooled tones, vocal cut ups and an even bigger low end presence than before -- frighteningly good. 'Rotating Water' is content to bliss out in beat free heaven after three tracks built up such a head of steam."
