"Elevate, if you remember, is the deep house label from Daniel Bell that put out a series of influential records in the late '90s including the first 12" from Theo Parrish. These releases are still very much in demand and are going for high collector's prices online. Baaz has releases on Sascha Dive's Deep Vibes label and a full EP on Sthlmaudio. Baaz may hail from southern Germany, but you would swear he grew up in the same Detroit neighborhood as Mike Huckaby or Moodymann when you hear his warm, gentle and deeply hypnotic house music."

"Introduced to dance music in 1997 by Daft Punk's Homework, Baaz started DJing and he soon became a well-known figure in the south German club scene. Things really started to make sense when Baaz encountered music from US artists like Moodymann and Theo Parrish in 2000. They remain his biggest influences. The third release on Slices Of Life comes from the Berlin DJ and producer Baaz. These three tracks show Baaz's focus on deep, pure and simple house grooves that roll on massively, and work perfectly without using obvious effects and frills. "Baaz sent us a demo back in 2005. Good tracks, but for some reason we didn't release it at that time. More recently, Baaz sent us another pack of tracks, and Jesus good Lord that was it, Baaz's 1st release was settled down in a couple of minutes. Baaz's music has matured so much in a couple of years, it is now something very special that appears simple to your ears but is indeed properly produced and incredibly deep. Baaz gained as well with his recent works, his very own sound signature that is really incredibly sweet, groovy, intelligent and properly swinging. We think that this is one of our pearl records and we're simply proud of pressing it on black wax. Don't believe the hype, copies remains copies, the truth is in the original!"

Baaz returns to Sthlmaudio Recordings for a rich EP called Woodland Drive. The 12" starts with "Sink," a house track which is dance appealing and yet refined and subtle -- a raw, bassy, groove-monster track. "The Loundrette" is a hip-hop track featuring the soul vocals of Katrina Marie. "It's Gone" is a pure, shining, rolling track with a bass-heavy, subtle and groovy house vibe. The closing track is lush and low-key hip-hop science.
