"Following two remixes for Kupei last year, Jonas Bering returns and joins forces with Chicago techno darling, Kate Simko to present Cityscape, a new EP that blends Bering's emotive style with Simko's Midwest roots and Latin-influenced percussion. Jonas Bering kicks off with 'Take My Hand.' His track, influenced by Gainsbourg, floats on a cloud of hypnotic vibraphone melodies, over a dub house aesthetic filled with a deep bass and ambient drone. Kate Simko follows with 'Cityscape,' which presents us with a tasteful contrasting direction; her track's morphing Detroit synth and classic percussion result in a unique, soulful blend. It is a brilliant follow-up to critically-acclaimed Strumm. On the B-side, we are delighted with two fantastic remixes. Simko's version of 'Take My Hand' shifts the original emotive track into the dancefloor arena. Adding bleeps, groovy bass notes and disco violins to Bering's stunning melodies, the track is a playful take on the original. Bering then returns the favor with his remix of 'Cityscape,' a deconstructed melody and truncated bass line lays the foundation for a sparse arrangement to complete the EP."
