Niklas Worgt is commonly known as Dapayk, but has been releasing sublime techno under the moniker Marek Bois since 2006. This is part one of two 12" versions of Boissche Untiefen. The title is a translator's nightmare, with "Untiefen" paradoxically meaning both deep and shallow, dependent on the context. Social critique or statement of intent? Regardless, this record sails above the murky waters of mediocrity. [this is the same as disc 1 in the 2LP version of this release, not sure why chose to release it two different ways on vinyl?]

This is the debut full-length release by Marek Bois. Niklas Worgt is a man of multiple identities. Most commonly known as Dapayk, he has been releasing techno under the moniker Marek Bois since 2006, and it is under this guise that he presents to us the irrepressible Boissche Untiefen. Released (with differing track lists) on double CD, double vinyl and also two 12"s, this is a comprehensive package to follow up on 2007's critically-acclaimed Black Beauty -- a culmination of Niklas' works as one half of Dapayk & Padberg. The title is a translator's nightmare, with "untiefen" paradoxically meaning both "deep" and "shallow," depending on the context. Irrespective of the name it falls under, one thing synonymous with Niklas is a propensity to introduce rich and unusual sounds to his productions, which is nowhere more apparent than on this latest album. Revisiting his technoid roots of the mid-'90s, Niklas used more analog equipment than usual, and resisted the urge to polish tracks in the mix. Boissche Untiefen is a hi-end techno gem, a breathing organic progression through ten tracks that swell with innovation. "Memento Moments" struts with blocks of bassy percussion, rained upon by corrosive, shrill synth melodies after a ghostly vocal introduction. "Dapss" swarms with dissonant tone, subtly developing with bubbling beats, and "Snareway To Hell" bounces into a feverish, snare-led track, characterized by a buzzing synth chorus. "Roth" mesmerizes with timbered percussion, "Now" punches with distorted rhythm, sliced vocal samples and a distinctive descending bass melody and "Roldgold" is an infectious mix of chopping groove, subtly growing hooks and heavy metallic stabs of synth. "Lander" features deep, clanging percussion, warm pads and an eerie melodic key loop and "Tlaa" calls upon a kaleidoscopic army of sounds, from warm synth passages to creeping bass pulses. The CD version comes with two bonus tracks and CD2 is a Marek Bois live recording: besides the new album material, it contains some tracks from his previous releases. This is a distinctly special album of ultra-modern techno, boiling over with fresh ideas.

Remixes of tracks from Marek Bois' first album Boissche Untiefen on Rrygular. The A1 remix was produced by Delete aka Sergio Munoz from Venezuela who has already released on labels such as Resopal, Frankie Rec, Safari Electronique, etc. For the more harmonic B-side, Flower Pot aka Phil Rogers and Ben Smith from Australia hit the circuit for the very first time. French producer From Karaoke To Stardom re-edits "Kimpton," and on the flip side, Marcel Knopf crafts a deeper, melodic interpretation of "Dapss."

"With the Trapez 060 Niklas Worgt has produced his first record under the pseudonym of Marek Bois. He releases regularly under the well known name Dapayk on his own label Mo's Ferry Productions. The new project Marek Bois was invented for his more minimal techno tracks. The A-side track 'You Got Good Ash' is an exceptional cool minimal rocker with a slight Chicago note to it. The track draws towards influences like Daniel Bell and similar producers who can strip down music to it's rhythm essentials. The monster breakdown of the track is the nice peak time moment that pulls the track up on to the dance floor where it's able to stand among the finest of the moment. The B-side track 'BoisBoisBois' is a rhythmical groover which reminds us of Richie Hawtin's groove project 'Concept.'"

The "You Got Good Ash" remixes from Gabriel Ananda and Andr� Kraml follow the success of Marek Bois aka Daypak's Trapez release Boisboisbois. You would think the original didn't leave much space for a reinterpretation, but how wrong can one be! Gabriel Ananda has created a slick, summery open air groover that draws its energy from a nice flow and rhythmic sound-details. In contrast, the Andr� Kraml remix comes along with big bass lines and comforting, soft, mighty and cool stripped-down beats. This one goes in the record bag and to the dancefloor, for sure.
