Title: Iron Man
Label: TARTELET (DENMARK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TART 007EP
"Tartelet Records welcomes yet another new members in the family. This time it's Brandt Brauer Frick, which is a group joined by Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick. The first two names have been collaborating for years under the name 'Scott,' producing club music with a jazz attitude (EPs on My Best Friend, Fluid Ounce, The Gym and more). Paul Frick has studied classical and modern composition with Friedrich Goldmann. Brandt Brauer Frick make their love for contemporary classical music and deep club music melt into a highly original and powerful stream of sound. With vibraphone, prepared piano, drums, various percussion, fender Rhodes, bass guitar and analogue synthesizers the trio creates textures that brings to mind Steve Reich as well as house music and the old-school loop techno. Experimental meets deepness, complexity meets minimalism. The generation of the sound is mostly acoustic -- even the bass drum. Brandt Brauer Frick succeeds in a thrilling synthesis of club and concert hall."

Label: TARTELET (DENMARK)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TART 011EP
The German acoustic techno trio Brandt Brauer Frick presents their second EP on Tartelet Records. "Piano Shakur" follows a rough and jazzy approach, featuring a minimalistic piano motif accompanied by sloppy drums, vibraphone and a heavy bass. "Bop" is an epic, polyrhythmic monster that goes beyond all description. Check out the video -- Kanye West even posted it on his blog. Remix work is by Peter Kremeier aka Losoul -- as hypnotic as house music can get.
