In 1997, the 28 year old Cologne guy founded the Treibstoff-label together with Marcel Janovsky and is thereby one of the most reliable soundproducers. With his eight EP-publications and the last year album debut Solar René advanced the reconciliation of modern cut deephouse with the reduced aesthetics of the dub. And nevertheless he puts one on top 'With a Little Luck'. Pumping sexy, close, funky, always present in the hip and always with a very pleasant summer placidity. "As soon as the needle is placed on the rotating, golden disk, an uber-stomping engine block welcomes the addicted audience. Usually, you wouldn't call René Breitbarth a speedster, however this time, he turns out to be a real friend of pushing tunes and we have to admit: it suits him extremely well. Dressed in a cowl and wearing a long hair wig, the first thing René does is throwing his TV out of the window, followed by all the prejudices about him being a deep house icon. "It's a miracle that somehow Rene Breitbarth found the time to produce a 12" for Treibstoff, as his brand new label Deep Data keeps him quite occupied. It's a wonder too that the man also delivered what is probably his best work to date: 'Baseline' takes a deep breath, stays concile all the same, and spills nothing but pure groove. It's one hell of a ride, a stomping and rattling rollercoaster, walloping all those world music samples at one go. They're not needed anyway, as this track knows its way. Flanked by the schizoid anthem 'Criminal' and the tumble dryer called 'Jingling,' this piece of music takes on the floor frontally, locking its jaws in the listeners internal legs and telling you all those nice stories about this one great party you haven't been to.
