Title: Out Of Reach
Label: LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP+CD
Price: $27.00
Catalog #: LR 309LP
"Originally released in 1978, Out Of Reach was one of Can's last albums before their official disbandment in 1979. Here, original bass player Holger Czukay is replaced by a much more funky Rosko Gee (of Traffic fame) -- who plays a prominent role in shaping the sound of this album, writing and singing on a number of the album's tracks -- while drumming duties are shared between Jaki Liebezeit and Reebop Kwaku Baah (also from Traffic), making this one of Can's more groove-heavy releases." 180 gram HQ vinyl featuring a bonus CD of the album.

Title: Can (Inner Space)
Label: LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP+CD
Price: $27.00
Catalog #: LR 310LP
"1979's Can (aka Inner Space), the band's last proper album, was less experimental than its previous releases, with Michael Karoli doing more straightforward vocals and guitar. Having spent the previous decade taking elements of the classical avant-garde (i.e. Karlheinz Stockhausen) and underground rock (i.e Velvet Underground) to create a kind of genreless 'new music'--and influencing countless bands in the process--Can had reached the natural end of its journey. Although founding members Irmin Schmidt (keyboards) and Jaki Liebezeit (drums) can still be heard, Rebop Kwaku Baah and Rosko Gee of Traffic fame have been added to the mix, with former bassist Holger Czukay doing the editing." 180 gram vinyl with a bonus CD version of the same album.

Title: Delay 1968
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD/SACD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9316CD
2006 remastered edition, with expanded artwork by Can. New liner notes by John Gill. Hybrid SACD, designed to play in stereo on both CD and SACD players, as well as SACD-compatible DVD players. Delay 1968 features classic early recordings with Malcolm Mooney on vocals, recorded in Nörvenich, Germany in 1968-69, not released until 1981. Ultimately, one of the best Can albums -- infused w/ the spirit of '68, even if in somewhat primitive form, and the sonic upgrades in this Spoon remaster series are consistently desirable. "A collection of cuts featuring early vocalist Malcolm Mooney, these seven songs are among the very first Can ever recorded; while nowhere near as intricate or assured as the group's later work, the visceral energy of tracks like the deranged 'Uphill' and 'Butterfly' is undeniable." -- Jason Ankeny.

Title: Ege Bamyasi
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9378CD
2007 remastered release. The group's fourth album, from 1972, originally issued by United Artists. "The follow-up to Tago Mago is only lesser in terms of being shorter; otherwise the Can collective delivers its expected musical recombination act with the usual power and ability. Liebezeit, at once minimalist and utterly funky, provides another base of key beat action for everyone to go off on -- from the buried, lengthy solos by Karoli on 'Pinch' to the rhythm box/keyboard action on 'Spoon'. Liebezeit and Czukay's groove on 'One More Night', calling to mind a particularly cool nightclub at the end of the evening, shows that Stereolab didn't just take the brain-melting crunch side of Can as inspiration."

Title: Soon Over Babaluma
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9424CD
"Classic Can releases available on standard CD again for the first time in years. Previously only available on SACD. Low list price of only $9.98. Originally released in 1974, Can's fifth album has Schmidt and Karoli taking over vocal duties after the departure of Kenji Suzuki. While a little less intense than previous Can albums, Babaluma displays beautiful, lighter and jazzier rhythms."

Title: Soundtracks
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9425CD
"Malcolm Mooney passes the baton to Damo Suzuki for Soundtracks, a collection of film music featuring contributions from both vocalists. The dichotomy between the two singers is readily apparent: Suzuki's odd, strangulated vocals fit far more comfortably into the group's increasingly intricate and subtle sound, allowing for greater variation than that allowed by Mooney's stream-of-consciousness discourse."

Title: Delay 1968
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9437CD
2007 remastered release. "Although recorded in the late '60s, the material included on Can's Delay 1968 did not appear commercially until 1981. A collection of cuts featuring early vocalist Malcolm Mooney, these seven songs are among the very first Can tunes ever recorded."

Title: Tago Mago
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9519CD
"The new 40th Anniversary Edition of this genre-defying album comes packaged in the original UK artwork for the first time since 1971, and includes a bonus CD featuring (almost) fifty minutes of unreleased live material from 1972, remastered in 2011. Tago Mago, the first album with Damo Suzuki on vocals, features the Can line up of Holger Czukay on bass, Michael Karoli on guitars, Jaki Liebezeit on drums and Irmin Schmidt on keyboards, and was recorded at Schloss Norvenich in 1971, released later that year on United Artists. Can's influence is well known and far-reaching and the impact they made on music is felt today as keenly as it ever has been. They themselves have always been impossible to classify and reflecting this, the scope of artists who in recent years have cited Can as a major influence is varied. Of all the band's oeuvre, Tago Mago has been most often cited as an influence for a host of artists including John Lydon, Radiohead, the Fall, Ariel Pink, Fuck Buttons, Sonic Youth, Factory Floor and Queens Of The Stone Age."

Title: Monster Movie
Label: SPOON/MUTE (UK)
Format: CD/SACD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: SPOON 9271CD
2004 remastered edition, with expanded artwork by Can. hybrid SACD, designed to play in stereo on both CD and SACD players, as well as SACD-compatible DVD players. Reissue of the first Can album, originally issued in 1969. "Can's debut is the only full-length, proper release to feature original vocalist Malcolm Mooney, whose free-form ranting is matched by a raw, aggressive dynamic unlike anything else in the group's canon; driving, dissonant songs like the extraordinary 'Father Cannot Yell' and 'Outside My Door' even owe a rather surprising debt to psychedelia and garage rock. More indicative of things to come is the closer 'Yoo Doo Right,' a 20-minute epic built on the kinds of hypnotic motifs and minimal rhythms which quickly became Can trademarks." -- Jason Ankeny. Last copies, deleted edition.
