Artist: CASSETTEBOY
Title: Mick's Tape
Label: ANTIDOTE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: ANT 112CD
"One of the defining artists in the 'bootleg scene', Cassetteboy are actually 'Mike' and 'Simon', two lads from Brighton with a sick obsession for cutting up pieces of popular culture and re-assembling them in as subversive a manner as possible. In their own words: 'Basically we record famous people and make it sound like they're talking about sex or drugs. It's a winning formula.' Embraced by Sleaze Nation magazine, XFM's James Hyman and the trendy 'Hoxton' crowd, their underground mix CDs (The Parker Tapes and Inside a Whale's Cock) and seven inch records ('Di and Dodi Do Die' and 'Picasio') are now infamous. DJ Yoda popularised their Jamie Oliver mash-up 'Joliver' on his Essential Mix for Radio 1. For their first legal mix CD on Antidote they have trawled through Sanctuary's video and music collection, and come up with something completely original. Equal parts offensive, hysterically funny, intricate and clever, Mick's Tape will make listeners sit up and pay attention, if nothing else. The cut-ups on the mix are interspersed with tracks by the likes of Jaylib, Curtis Mayfield, Jehst and MF Doom; and the end result is the most original mix CD you'll hear this year."

Title: The Parker Tapes
Label: BARRY'S BOOTLEGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BAZ 004CD
"Best known for their notorious 'Di & Dodi do Die' single in 2000, anarchic cut up pranksters Cassetteboy have created an outrageous audio collage of radio, TV, and other people's music which takes listeners on a funny, bewildering and irritating journey inside a tape deck, through the Two Fat Ladies? kitchen, under the wreckage of the twin towers and into a cheap Japanese hotel. Along for the ride are Tony Blair, Bill Gates, Jamie Oliver and a load of other twats. Mike Cassette: 'Basically we record famous people and make it sound like they're talking about sex or drugs. It's a winning formula.'" Repress of this 2002 groundbreaker (?)...

Title: Dead Horse
Label: BARRY'S BOOTLEGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: BAZ 010CD
"Cut and paste scallywags Cassetteboy are back with the long-awaited follow up to their 2002 album The Parker Tapes. Long-awaited by their label Barry's Bootlegs, anyway. Dead Horse is the real deal - the second proper Cassetteboy album. It's been painstakingly constructed from thousands of audio snippets taken from TV, radio, film and popular music, and is more upbeat and focused than The Parker Tapes, with many tracks attacking specific targets or issues. The War On Terror is covered on various tracks, including cut up speeches by Bush and Blair."

Title: Carry On Breathing
Label: BARRY'S BOOTLEGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: BAZ 014CD
"'Tis indeed a great pleasure to welcome back infamous cut-up terrorists Cassetteboy to their original home on Barry's Bootlegs. Cassetteboy 'accidentally' made a classic debut album with The Parker Tapes in 2002 ('Very, very funny. The bastard offspring of Chris Morris, Cartman and Cutmaster Swift' 8/10, NME) then they sold out and went 'pop' with Dead Horse in 2005 as well as the Antidote/Sanctuary album Mick's Tape... and now they are back with the concept album Carry On Breathing. Covering all the big themes: money, love, death and, er, Croydon Council, Carry On Breathing tells the story of life itself, from birth to death, through the medium of bits of Eastenders, nicked northern soul loops and knob gags. Cassetteboy are childhood friends Michael Bollen and Steve Warlin."
