"It's been a while now since Cluekid released his debut single here on Earwax -- 'Halogen' and 'Down & Dirty' (2006). We are very pleased to have him back on wax, demonstrating his progressions as he's mastered his art. The lead track 'Chicken Foot' is a one for the clever stepper who likes his wobble to be little more deadly and refined in delivery. It's a banger alright but one with plenty of restraint and fine style. Opening pads chime a deadly warning before the wonky bassline thumps in, heavily grooved and heavily weighted. Sporadic conga riffs cut through on point, adding to the momentum generated by the no-compromise bassline. Hold out for the 2nd drop as it twists a new way round! Flip then for the equally deadly but more stripped down 'Shifty'. Perhaps not the most appropriate title ever conceived but a fine piece of heavy artillery nonetheless. Taking a 2005 Loefah sound (and supported by him for this very reason) and redefining it in a Cluekid style. Excellent quality rhythm and bass music with a dark and unforgiving edge."
