Artist: COOPER, MAX
Title: Harmonisch Serie
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 107EP
Max Cooper is a UK DJ who is also involved in mathematical modeling research on the evolution of networks of genes, a sci-art project combining evolutionary and music production algorithms. Max has joined Traum with a 3-tracker, including a remix by Kanio. Cooper's innovative programming positions him alongside artists such as Dominik Eulberg, Minilogue and Extrawelt. His epic structure has a unique narrative character and sometimes dares to become almost soundtrack-like, full of ambience, but with a sci-fi edge.

Title: Symphonica
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 112EP
Max Cooper's Symphonica EP is based on the combination of natural imperfection from real sound sources such as that of an orchestral symphony, and the mathematical precision such as that used in the synthesis of electronic music for recordings. "Symphonica" is richly arranged with elements of Harmonisch Serie, whereas Perc's interpretation of "The End Of Reason" gives it a very DJ-friendly twist. "Wasp" has a dirty Detroit funk bass line counteracted by a new school, trippy sequence.

Title: Stochastisch Serie
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 117EP
The title of Max Cooper's Stochastisch Serie EP refers to his use of stochastic methods, also known as non-deterministic or random methods of sound generation. The stochastic elements refer mainly to real vocal experiments matched with sampled sounds which create a rich complexity. His dancefloor rockers "Stochastisch Serie" and "Mnemonic" work in a more functional way, but do include bits of this randomness and therefore are part of the superstructure. The remix by Leeks is full of swing and groove.

Title: Chaotisch Serie
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 122EP
Chaotisch Serie is the last part of Max Cooper's collection of "Serie" releases. "Chaotisch Serie" features trippy delays reminiscent of the opening sequence of The Hunger with Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie at a Bauhaus concert. "Minertia" keeps a tight, rhythmic pattern alive, with plenty of distortion. "River Of Gold" features shiny melodies and lush, airy chord sequences that fly by like paper airplanes. This is balsam for your soul, a musical millipede massaging your spine.

Title: Expressions
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 131EP
Max Cooper has become one of the figureheads of modern composed electronic music on Traum. "Ripple" is an epic builder, heavy with bass, tripped-out FX, haunting abstract vocals, and spiced with teasing climaxes, evoking artists such as Terry Riley or Philip Glass. "Enveloped" is much more detached and dream-like, incorporating all the strength and vitality of classical music. Maetrik's remix provides a mutant disco experience before "Sea Of Sound" swings back to the original intention of this EP.

Title: Metaphysical EP
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 136EP
The track "Gravity's Rainbow" highlights the more stripped and pop-nurtured side of Max Cooper. Although seemingly light, this track is as complex as all of his work, using antagonistic elements such as golden, spine-tingling sounds that linger and a grand bass line melody that could be described as an award-winning hymn. "Gravity's Rainbow" is a catchy tune made to fill the dancefloor with a kind of happiness that is kind of rare for Max. Includes a remix by Dosem.

Title: Empirisch EP
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: TRAUM 141EP
Max Cooper returns to Traum with his Empirisch EP. "Echoes Reality" moves from wonderful, lush sounds to a sequence of screeching tones and back, showing all the signs of a metamorphosis, realized on the highest possible level of production. For the first time on vinyl, there's an ambient rework of the highly in-demand "The End Of Reason." "Darkroom" has an amazing post-Detroit feeling to it as well as a Chicago jack one. Includes a remix by John Tejada.

Title: Egomodal EP
Label: TRAUM (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.50
Catalog #: TRAUM 149EP
Max Cooper's Egomodal EP is focused on dynamics and tangents, along with the concept of complexity and simplicity. This release is extremely diverse in style and offers everything from the dark Detroit electro-styled techno piece "Epitaphy," to the melodically trembling "Autumn Haze," with its superbly-programmed flow, to Ripperton's mighty house hymn of a remix, ending in the bassline monster "Raw," which loses its teeth towards the end.
