FOOL'S GOLD
Format:

Price:
$10.00
Catalog #:
FGR 022EP
"Slamming, jacking, sweating, pumping, thumping, EXPLODING... yep, must be Crookers. The Italian DJ/production duo has been synonymous with all manner of intense dancefloor activity over the past few years, crafting absolutely massive (and massively influential) original tracks, along with remixes for some of the biggest names in pop. The Crookers' version of Kid Cudi's 'Day N Nite' snowballed from an underground club must-have to an international smash hit - so we're obviously, undeniably proud to present this follow-up Fool's Gold release. The stacked
What Up Y'all
EP features the first official release of the title track (now properly mixed and mastered, with a shouted hook from Izza Kizza) as well as a hyperactive juke remix of Crookers' anthem 'Knobbers' by DJ Gant-Man, and two incredible takes on the follow-up Cudi collab 'Embrace The Martian' courtesy of UK beat maestro Seiji - a crunching, hard-hitting 'booty mix' and a squelchy acid version that take the dreamy original to two new heights. Grab these records now and brace yourself for whatever the Crooks are cooking up next on their debut LP."

Following
Boys Noize
's turn on 2008's
I Love Techno
mix,
I Love Techno 2009
features the talents and tastes of insanely-hot Italian DJ duo,
Crookers
. The hot fuss surrounding Crookers is about to reach fever pitch. Already the hippest act in dance circles, they will soon unleash their debut album on the world and things are expected to go mad for the two men from Milan. Their remix of
Kid Cudi
's "Day 'N' Nite" reached number two in the UK and is now riding high on the U.S. airplay charts. Their already huge body of work has attracted the attention of big names such as
Kanye West
and
Will. I. Am
who have become fans and collaborators. Dolce & Gabbana recently used their
U2
"Get Your Boots On" remix for the catwalk and their MySpace page is getting more traffic than
Coldplay
's. Crookers started in 2003 when DJs
Phra
and
Bot
met and paired up over a shared love of hip-hop, house and the emerging skewed, bass-heavy sounds pioneered by
Switch
in the UK and
Diplo
in the States, and also of quality house like
Moodymann
and
Theo Parrish
. It's from these combined influences that Crookers derive their hybrid sound. Their first release
End 2 End
, was released in 2006, but it was with the
Knobbers
EP, for their current label Southern Fried, when they really made an impact. There's footage on YouTube of their appearance at I Love Techno in 2008, with 10,000 people singing the riff to "Knobbers." Crookers usher in 2009's I Love Techno at the Flanders Expo in Ghent with an incredible mix of tracks by

Title:
Dr. Gonzo
Label:
MAD DECENT
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
MAD 149CD
"Dr. Gonzo is the brand new album from Italian two-piece Crookers aka Bot & Phra. Working with producers from across the world, this album sees Crookers returning to the fun club sounds that they first took over the world with back in 2008,
Knobbers
, the Mad Kids EPs and later their game changing remix Kid Cudi'
Day N Nite
. Rather than just ducking back to that style though, Crookershave brought in a host of top notch production guests, combining their tech house bangers with bunch of new styles. Carli of the Swedish group Savage Skulls has been one of our Mad Decent favorites for a long time, and he his hand in a bunch of tracks here. We also get features from French champions Surkin & Bobmo, Style of Eye, His Majesty Andre & Lazy Ants and Neoteric & Wax Motif."
