"Originally released in 1969 on the famous German MPS label
The Oimels
presented Dauner & co. in a very different setting, namely as a psychedelic pop band. Full of surprises, this collection even included a version of The Beatles' 'A Day In The Life' alongside twisted pop, beat and ethnic music. Over-the-top fuzz guitars, one primal punky stomper and sitar-drenched lounge freakouts are the order of the day. Truly superior stuff, especially the great guitar work from Siggi Schwab, who appears on
Vampyros Lesbos
, Roland Kovac Set and numerous MPS label releases. An outstanding album!"

"1969 free-for-all all directed by this somewhat overlooked keyboardist/electronics salesman (previously notorious for his
Output
LP on ECM, THE classic ring-mod jazz example...). We're treated to five Dauner originals (notably, 'Take Your Clothes Off to Feel the Setting Sun', which seems to be his hippy-dip anthem; wouldn't be out of place on the OST to any European take on the whole 60's drug-cinema experience), tunes by Gershwin/Beatles and a version of 'Greensleeves' (in that morose 'Girl-from-Ipanema/Ibiza' stylee). Pseudo-psychedelic touches all around (sitar, extended jams, primal-scream-a-thons) and plenty of exploratory guitar, courtesy of Sigfried Schwab (of
Vampyros Lesbos
fame...). Plenty of that 'Oh, we're still recording?' vibe. And stoned chanting. Positively 'kraut' in presentation (far more so than ANY inhabitants of the post '73 Dieter Dierks produced hard rock junk-boat). Cryonically preserved via time-capsule and placed on your supper table for late-nite inspection/consumption." -- Hrvatski.
