Title: Sandy
Label: ISLAND (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: IMCD 132
Island Remasters series. Originally released in 1972 on A & M. Sandy Denny's quintessential solo effort, Sandy is the follow up to the Island LP The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, which was her first post-Fairport Convention release. Features covers of Bob Dylan and Richard Farina as well as 8 originals. "A beautiful blend of the traditional style with which she is most often associated and a slightly more lavish sound that would become more prevalent in her later work. Trevor Lucas does an excellent job of balancing the two and creating an exquisite backdrop for Sandy Denny's gorgeous songs and majestic voice. Nearly every track has the radiance and timelessness of her best Fairport Convention work, along with an accessibility she had merely hinted at prior to this...Sandy Denny's definitive (solo) musical statement." -- Brett Hartenbach/AMG.

Title: Gold Dust - Live at the Royalty
Label: ISLAND (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: IMCD 252
Island Remasters series. Recorded at the Royalty Theatre in London on 11/27/77. "This was the last date in a November '77 tour after a two-year absence as well as the final performance of Denny's career -- she died less than five months later. Unreleased for 21 years, the concert tapes required guitar and background vocal repairs to remove some sonic disturbances. With a steel guitarist among the band members, there's a gorgeous sweep to the arrangements on Gold Dust. And Denny's voice, fragile at some moments and powerful at others, is simply an awe-inspiring instrument. Drawing from British and American folk, pop, and more, Gold Dust has a regal and spiritual quality that makes it timeless."

Title: Like An Old Fashioned Waltz
Label: ISLAND (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: IMCD 315
Island Remasters series. 2005 digital remastering with 4 bonus tracks, sleevenotes and enhanced packaging. Originally issued on Island in 1973. "For her third solo album Sandy was increasingly sure of herself as a songwriter. The gently poignant songs on Like An Old Fashioned Waltz are minor masterpieces. Several of the albums' best songs -- including 'Solo,' 'Friends' and the heavily orchestrated 'Carnival' -- tap a reflective, confessional mood. Vocally the album captures some beautifully embroidered singing, full of subtle inflections and emotional nuances. The recording and arrangements display a growing assurance that belies the oft-repeated tales of Sandy's nervousness in the studio...Like an Old Fashioned Waltz captures a remarkable artist at the top of her game." -- from the liner notes. Bonus Tracks: "At the End of the Day," "King & Queen of England," "Like An Old Fashioned Waltz" (unreleased Fairports track from '74), and "No End."

Title: Rendezvous
Label: ISLAND (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: IMCD 316
Island Remasters series. 2005 digital remastering with 5 bonus tracks, sleevenotes and enhanced packaging. Originally released on Island in 1977. "Rendezvous is a majestic, dignified production, occasionally let down by some over-ripe arrangements. Much of the album was cut with the orchestra and backing band playing together in the studio with guest musicians on the sessions including many long-time Fairport / Fotheringay colleagues and several fellow Island artists who were also recording during the same period, including Steve Winwood of Traffic, John 'Rabbit' Bundrick of Free and Bronco's Jess Roden. Like so many of Sandy's best songs 'All Our Days' has a haunting, melancholy quality; the remarkable seven-and-a-half minute performance on Rendezvous was recorded live with the full orchestra in CBS' expansive Whitfield Street Studios." --from the liner notes. Bonus tracks: "Still Waters Run Deep," "Full Moon," "I'm A Dreamer," "Easy To Slip," "Moments."
