"Something akin to the marriage of The Clipse, Carl Craig, and Peter Gabriel, the music of DJ Blaq Starr is a messy but a true product of the American inner city. Baltimore club music is a world that has no proper release at all -- but all the local kids can hum the lyrics by heart. It's a strange phenomenon now in its second generation, a black inner city subculture with roots in Motown and house.
