contains many rarities from artists and labels who influenced the developing electronic dance sound. The title for this compilation series was inspired by the classic twelve inch single 'World 2 World,' which sonically links NYC, Chicago & Detroit. The music on this compilation is universally soulful, yet the songwriting is influenced by the musical traditions of each city. This is not house music of the variety that directly descended from disco -- it may have echoes of it, but it is driven more by DJs than musicians. It is stripped down, raw with no fancy sounds or gimmicks. Sonically it descended from the technological developments of Robert Moog who launched the first synthesizer in 1967, and Roland's first pre-set drum machines made available in the early '70s."
