"This is a really special goody: an unreleased magical rec. made in 1972 by Indian-born guitarist Amancio D'Silva (1936-1996) with some of the most renowned jazz musicians from the UK scene of the time: Don Rendell, Stan Tracey & Alan Branscombie. It was supervised by fabled producer Denis Preston and originally planned for release on Columbia/EMI but that never happened, probably due to Preston's passing... Qbico is really pleased to be able to present for the 1st time this really fascinating music as it was originally supposed to be: on LP. This had been possible thanks to Amancio's son Stephano, who fortunately still owns the original 1/4" stereo master tape. It was rec. @ the famous Lansdowne Studios, London where many legendary sessions had been cut (there was even a 'Lansdowne Series' issued by Columbia: Don Rendell/Ian Carr 5ets, Joe Harriot, Neil Ardley). Unfortunately, Amancio's music is not so well known but he rec. fantastic records such as Integration, Cosmic Eye, his solo Reflections and Hum-dono with Joe Harriot (one of the cornerstones of British jazz) and he's surely a cult figure; in fact, all these mentioned records are really sought after and usually fetch high prices (all issued by Columbia/EMI). Konkan Dance in particular is a very airy and exotic set with longish tunes, featuring tabla & sitar, often trip-hop-esque kit playing, a canyonous guitar ambience and a one-of-a-kind psychedelic feel throughout! For sure one of the most exciting example of advanced jazz influenced/infected by Indian feelings/flavours!"
