When Shake Some Action blasted onto the tired 1976 music scene, the Groovies' Dave Edmunds produced an update on British Invasion style, along with the Ramones debut that same year, were the early tremors of the punk shockwave that has resonated for decades. Detailed liner notes by music historian and current Groovies bassist Alec Palao."

Title: Supersnazz
Label: SUNDAZED
Format: CD
Price: $13.50
Catalog #: SC 6130CD
"Supersnazz, according to group leader Roy Loney, was to be 'the Flamin' Groovies' Sgt. Pepper' -- a chance to blow out the doors of a major label studio with songs running the gamut from the decadence of 'The First One's Free' and 'Love Have Mercy' to the exotica of 'Bam Balam', the harmonies of 'A Part From That' and the Beatlesque shimmer of 'Laurie Did It'. Now with four bonus tracks and a dazzling array of previously unseen pics, Supersnazz is a Groovie grab-bag from the golden era of San Fran rock, circa 1969."

Title: Replay: Groovies Greatest
Label: THE GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC CO.
Format: 2CD
Price: $17.50
Catalog #: GA 204CD
"Replay is a 2CD set -- one studio, one live -- and puts its primary focus on the band's later faux-British Invasion albums. By giving equal time to the Groovies' more raucous efforts for Buddah (Flamingo and Teenage Head, arguably their two best albums), and throwing in some excellent lesser-known tunes, you have a handsome collection. Pick it up, crank it up, and let the good times roll."

Artist: FLAMIN' GROOVIES, THE
Title: Grease
Label: VINYL LOVERS (RUSSIAN FEDERATION)
Format: LP
Price: $24.00
Catalog #: VL 900984LP
"One of the best bands to come out of San Francisco in the 1960s. The Flamin' Groovies were part of the whole flower power scene, but as a band, they couldn't have been farther from it. Instead of dressing like hippies and playing like the Grateful Dead, the Flamin' Groovies dressed like mods and played like a cross between Little Richard and the Yardbirds. Despite never gaining the fame and fortune they dreamed of, the Groovies are often cited as important precursors to the punk scene. This album is a collection of the complete Skydog singles from 1973-1981. The singles were originally issued on the French label, with some produced by Dave Edmunds in the legendary Monmouth Studio in Wales, and some recorded at Phil Spector's Gold Star Studios. It includes a mix of classic pop covers and Groovies originals. Includes extensive liner notes by Skydog's Marc Zermati."
